Josh cheerfully pushed the ghost towards Yuze: "Me and her."
The Flower Selling Ghost wore an unwilling expression and even bared her teeth growling at Josh when pushed.
Josh was amused: "Youβre so cute, just like my useless and enraged silly sons."
Bullet screen: [Got insulted again while watching a live stream.]
[fine, well, just an ordinary day of getting scolded.]
Yushi moved a little closer to Yuze with some fear: "Little Tactician, is this... a ghost?"
"Whatβs there to fear? Isnβt she quite cute!" Josh seemed puzzled.
Yuze raised his eyebrows high: "You want me to hit on her?"
Joshβs mouth twitched slightly: "Donβt be unwilling, Iβm doing it too."
Yuze glanced back and forth between her and the Flower Selling Ghost, reluctantly agreeing: "Alright then."
The Flower Selling Ghost, hearing Joshβs words, started to struggle violently as if provoked.
Her hair was messy with one of her pigtails undone, several shoe prints on her face, one eye swollen, and several yellow talismans stuck on the gaping hole in her chest pierced by the Rose Vine.
The ghost angrily said: "I disagree! I donβt want to hit on you! Violent stinky woman!"
Josh raised her fist high and slammed it hard on her forehead: "Keep babbling, and Iβll tear off the talisman on your chest!"
The Flower Selling Ghost instantly quieted down.
She should have been dead last night; it was this strange woman in front of her who stuck those talismans on her and miraculously kept her alive.
Those two talismans were now her lifeline.
But she didnβt want to hit on this woman!
Removing the talisman would mean death; staying with this woman was a fate worse than death!
Joshβs mouth twitched slightly: "Behave yourself, donβt always think about running away. I donβt want to hit you."
The Flower Selling Ghost shed two lines of bloody tears.
After eating, Josh looked at Yuze: "Iβll investigate the row of residents on the left side."
Yuze: "Okay, then we will investigate the row on the right side."
Josh headed left with the ghost, just as a couple ran out screaming, looking disheveled.
The woman was bruised and swollen, with knife wounds all over her body, while the man, pallor-faced, dragged her further away.
The man sighed in relief, still feeling lingering fear: "Luckily, we ran fast. That damned monster is insane!"
The woman glared at him, somewhat complaining: "What were you doing just now?"
The man hurriedly smiled and comforted her: "Look, that monster was clearly targeting you. Whenever he sees a woman, he wants to hit them. If I hadnβt pushed you, we would have both been beaten, which didnβt make any sense!"
The woman angrily shook off his hand: "You did it on purpose! You want me to die in this instance so you can go find that girl in the guild, Mian Mian, right?"
The man forced a smile: "No, donβt say that."
Josh didnβt listen to the gossip anymore and was about to step forward to open the door when suddenly another man and woman were thrown out.
The woman had lingering fear on her face, sweating profusely and looking terrifyingly pale.
The man beside her didnβt look any better, with injuries on his body, pulling the woman away: "We canβt deal with this place, letβs switch to another spot."
The woman clearly hadnβt snapped out of her fear.
Josh took the ghost forward.
The man stopped her, giving her a once-over: "You two girls better not go in. The monster inside specifically targets girls, and with both of you, its strength might double, and you might not even be able to get out!"
Josh laughed slightly and nodded: "Alright, thanks."
The man then left with the woman.
Josh turned and grabbed the ghost inside.
The ghost resisted with her foot against the steps: "Iβm not going! You go if you want!"
Josh turned her head, squinting her eyes: "You seem quite familiar with whatβs inside here?"
The Flower Selling Ghost snorted coldly: "Idiot! The butcher who lives here hates women the most in town. He has to beat his wife three times a day to vent his anger, heβs already beaten three of his daughters to death. We two women going in will only provoke him!"
"How intriguing!" A hint of excitement flashed in Joshβs eyes, dragging the Flower Selling Ghost forward.
"Ah!!" The ghost screamed miserably, forced inside.
Josh followed closely behind.
The butcherβs slaughterhouse was enclosed, with a glass-style door covered in blood-stained newspaper, making it look like red paper.
Josh pushed the door open and was immediately hit by the overwhelming smell, wrinkling her nose.
Upon entering, there was a half-human-height checkout counter, and the room was filled with hanging strips of pork, looking like a dense forest of pork at first glance.
The smell of blood mixed with pig sweat was incredibly pungent in the airtight room.
The newspaper on the door tainted red with blood, casting a sinister scarlet gleam.
There were sounds of a blunt knife chopping meat coming from the back.
Josh approached the cash register and saw the woman sitting inside.
She looked about thirty years old, with a sallow complexion, a numb expression on her face, and a large patch of hair along with scalp torn off from her head, with an inflamed, pus-oozing wound.
Her face wasnβt much better, bruised and swollen beyond recognition of her features.
She wore a simple pink coarse cloth dress, with visible scars of all sizes on her exposed neck and wrists, cigarette burns, scalds, knife wounds, and even her little finger seemed to have been chopped off, leaving only a bit of flesh preventing it from falling off.
The Flower Selling Ghost shivered in fear: "Letβs go, letβs go... before the butcher notices, letβs leave quickly!"
"Whoβs outside?" A manβs muffled, hoarse voice came from inside, as if there was a trumpet in his throat but clogged with phlegm, making it physically uncomfortable to hear.
The Flower Selling Ghost turned to flee, but Josh grabbed her by the collar and yanked her back.
Heavy footsteps approached from the back kitchen.
The Flower Selling Ghost screamed in fear, and a throwing knife shot out from the forest of pork, aiming straight for her left eye.
Josh quickly pulled her behind.
The butcherβs knife flew out and smashed into the door, emitting a loud "bang".
The woman sitting by the cash register didnβt even flinch, just continued counting money.
Josh raised an eyebrow, pulled a piece of meat from the pork forest, and handed it to the woman: "Big sister, weβre new neighbors. We brought you some pork to get to know each other!"
The Flower Selling Ghost: "...?"
The woman didnβt look up, continuing her money counting: "No need, we donβt lack pork here."
Josh smoothly nodded: "Alright, then Iβll take it back."
She switched hands for the meat, seemingly unconcerned about the man inside coming out: "Big sister, Iβm a witch diviner. Is there anything you need help with?"
