Immortality Starts From Making Money.-Chapter 327: Arrival of the Evil Sect Powerhouses.
Southern Region.
At the border, soldiers moved back and forth with solemn expressions on their faces. Their long gleaming spears shone brightly under the bright sky.
For the past several days, they had intercepted many evil cultivators who tried to sneak into their region.
Thus, all four leaders had increased border defenses with both elders and disciples from the three sects.
Now the garrison boasted thousands of cultivators ranging from Peak Core Refining to the lowest Foundation Realm.
For each team, a Core Refining warrior would be the captain. This was to tackle any unforeseen event.
Moreover, every team was coordinating with the central command, which consisted of the four leaders.
All orders came from them.
With this solid change of command, the border had become an impenetrable shield against the evil cultivators from the Northern Region.
Inside the largest wooden house, the four leaders sat with solemn expressions.
"Why do you think the evil cultivators are not trying to enter our region again?" the Wind Spirit Sect Master asked, studying the others' faces.
"Perhaps they are tired," the Nine Mountain Sect Master said, his voice filled with confidence and pride.
"I don't think so…" the Governor shook his head. "I don't think it is that simple."
"Why do you say that? Do you know how many of them died in our hands?" the Nine Mountain Sect Master scoffed.
Previously, he had been wary and afraid of the evil sect's attacks, but with the terrifying formation from the Thousand Wealth Chamber, and how easily they had taken down even Peak Golden Core Experts, his pride swelled and he no longer looked at the evil sect with fear.
"Don't get complacent. We have only killed the lowest cultivators among the evil sects. If their powerhouse decides to turn their attention on us, what will you do then?" the Frost Moon Sect Master said coldly.
Listening to her, the arrogant smirk on the Nine Mountain Sect Master vanished immediately.
"D-do you think their powerhouse will think of us when they are still fighting with the central region powerhouse?" he replied, but his voice was heavy with uncertainty.
"Why wouldn't they? Have you forgotten they need to conquer the whole continent before their plan can be completed?"
"With the South and West out of their grip, do you still think they would sit and do nothing?" she scoffed, her voice dripping with disdain.
"If you think they wouldn't attack, you're naive. Right now, our main worry should be the powerhouse attacking us."
Instantly, the room sank into a dead silence. The Nine Mountain Sect Master frowned deeply.
The more he thought, the more he realized she was not lying. Unknown to him, his palm was sweating profusely.
Against a Nascent Soul powerhouse, they were nothing but ants.
What would they do against a formidable array formation strong enough to tear them apart as if they were ripping a useless piece of paper?
The Governor turned and looked at the Frost Moon Sect Master. "What about the Young Master? Did he tell you anything?"
When she heard about Mo Jian, her heart skipped a beat, but she managed to maintain her cold, aloof expression.
"Didn't he reveal anything to you?" she asked with a puzzled expression.
The Governor shook his head. "He only mentioned an artifact. People from the chamber arrived, and no one knows what they are doing."
This was what three of them knew, but the Frost Moon Sect Master had been frequent with the chamber.
Thus, they hoped she would have more information.
"The Young Master mentioned the price for using the artifacts," she revealed.
"Price? At this stage, is there anything we can give him?" the Wind Spirit Sect Master asked.
"People and resources," she responded. "That's what he demanded."
People and resources?!
Everyone looked at one another, the room filled with confusion.
"If that is the case, he can have as many people as he wants, and every resource in the region can belong to him. It's not as if we can stop him if he wants to take anything in our region," the Governor said matter-of-fact.
The others nodded. They had been too indebted to the Thousand Wealth Chamber to imagine repaying them with mere spirit stones.
The Frost Moon Sect Master nodded in agreement. Right now, the threat from the evil sects was too great for them to worry about mere resources.
Besides, it was not as if he would take them for free. His chamber was helping them fight against the evil sects. That alone made him a hero.
"Very well. I'll pass the information along to him. Also, we need to give the chamber one hundred thousand middle-grade spirit stones."
Huh!
A sharp gasp echoed inside the room as the leaders widened their eyes in disbelief.
"Don't react that way. I heard it is for the artifact when activated," she explained.
The three leaders sighed and resigned themselves to their fate.
The southern region's spirit vein was limited, and with continuous mining it would soon be exhausted.
"Very well, let us do as you say. Let's hope the mysterious artifact can defend against a Nascent Soul powerhouse," the Governor said.
The others did not respond, but everyone's heart was filled with doubt.
Is there really an artifact that can defend against a Nascent Soul powerhouse?
None believed it possible.
…..
Meanwhile, over the Desert of Fallen, two powerhouses were flying at awe-inspiring speed toward the Southern Region.
Their speed was so great that ordinary eyes could not track them.
"When we deal with the Southern Region, I will move to the Western Region," the old woman with a deep scar on her face whispered to the old man.
"No problem. I just hope there are enough people in the south to improve my technique," the old man replied, his face filled with longing.
"Hmph! So those ants are guarding their border," she said, her gaze sweeping over the garrison in the distance.
Although they were still thousands of meters away from the border, it was no problem for them to see it.
"Let's clear them quickly and continue our journey."
With that, they increased their speed, shooting forward like comets.
At the garrison, a Peak Core Refining Warrior stood at the wooden wall, looking in the direction of the Desert of Fallen.
"What's happening to the Qi Sensing Compass?" he muttered, watching the Qi Sensing Compass vibrate and turn a golden red.
This was the first time he had seen such a color.
Just then, he saw two figures flying toward them, radiating a suffocating aura.
Sensing their aura, he froze for a moment before he rushed toward the leaders' building.
"Sound the alarm!" he screamed.
