Chapter 26: Skill Master

Now he could finally let out a sigh of relief.

His awareness gradually stabilized.

And then he could see Luna.

Her expression was twisted with worry. She was hugging him tightly against her chest, her arms wrapped protectively around his small slime form.

"Luna," he said gently. "It’s okay now. Everything is okay. Thank you."

She looked down at him, her eyes still glistening.

"Dad is putting himself in danger because of me," she said quietly. "I don’t mind being stuck in this form for the rest of my life."

He was surprised by her intelligence. She really had grown.

As a father, he was proud.

"Don’t worry," he told her. "I’ve already found the solution."

"Really?"

"Would I lie to you?"

Well, in reality, he wasn’t sure if it would work yet.

He focused on her.

Unlocking Spatial Domain was just the first step. Now that he had complete awareness of space around him, it could be seen as an extension of his storage.

And this meant...

[ Congratulations ]

Skill Merge: Appraisal + Analysis → Analytical Appraisal

That’s right. His Appraisal could finally function just like Analysis.

He felt smug.

This meant that even without putting someone into his storage - which would be difficult if a strong individual resisted - he could analyze them while on the outside.

And just like he had done with Luna, he could acquire their skills.

Still, there were some restrictions. Being outside also applied some form of latency, and that was on top of the already existing latency added by storage itself.

The hierarchy of analysis worked something like this:

Innate Absorption - the fastest.

Storage - a little slower.

Analytical Appraisal - the slowest, but with the most versatility.

Now, as for solving Luna’s problem...

He thought of his Shapeshifting.

After unlocking the beast form and now the beastman form, he used the data from both to map out a transformation from beast to beastman and vice versa.

Then this data was compiled in the form of a skill.

This should allow Luna to transform freely between her two forms.

As for how to give it to her - there was no need to waste time teaching her the skill. Just like how he had taken her skills in binary form and loaded them into himself, he figured he could do the same for other people.

Treating the skill as a compiled binary, he just had to write the skill directly onto her and tell her the address. Then she would be able to easily access it.

His slime body extended, forming a small appendage that reached out and touched her.

Then he began writing the skill directly into her.

Luna winced slightly.

"It’s done," he announced.

"That fast?" she asked, blinking in surprise.

"Try transforming."

She closed her eyes and concentrated.

Instantly, her form shifted. Fur sprouted across her body. Her limbs elongated. Her face stretched into a snout.

In seconds, a massive white wolf stood where Luna had been.

"Whoa!" Lunaris exclaimed. "Quickly, transform back!"

She had grown even larger since he last saw her beast form. If she fully transformed, she might destroy the church. Then they would never get to hear the end of it.

Luna shifted back to her human form and immediately scooped him up, hugging him tightly.

"Dad is the best!"

He cleared his throat.

"Ahem. It was no problem at all."

[ Congratulations ]

Unique Skill Acquired: Skill Master

...

Lunaris observed his current stats:

[Name: Lunaris]

[Extra Skills: Mana Manipulation, Shapeshifting, Rapid Regeneration, Moonlight Cloak, Fang of Severance]

[Unique Skills: Mathematician, Spatial Dominion, Skill Master]

[Spatial Dominion: Storage, Isolation, Spatial Domain]

[Skill Master: Skill Creation, Skill Unpacking, Skill Loading]

He was already D rank. He wondered how this ranking system even worked anyway.

He looked at his skills. It seemed he had accumulated quite a few of them. He wondered if this was the standard for ranking. After all, it didn’t seem to be physical strength - his physical strength had never improved.

And it didn’t seem to be mana either, as he had plenty of that from the Eternal Moon.

He sighed. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Well, I’ll figure it out sooner or later.

He looked at his new unique skill. He wondered if it was normal to have this many. He hadn’t encountered anyone with a unique skill, so he figured they were rare. But wasn’t he accumulating too many of them too fast?

And from the newest one he had gotten, he could tell things were only going to get more insane.

The new skill, Skill Master, had three sub-skills.

The first was Skill Creation. It wasn’t as straightforward as it sounded - meaning he couldn’t just think skills into existence. It was more like a compiler. If he could create the mechanism by which a certain effect occurred, he could compile said mechanism or its process into a skill, making it easier to use.

He guessed a skill was like some kind of macro. It just allowed him to do what he could already do, but much easier, without paying attention to all the details.

This made him think that Skill Creation wasn’t actually all that useful. Most of the time, if he created a mechanism, it automatically got acknowledged by that weird voice and turned into a skill anyway. It was the same with Mana Manipulation and Mana Sense.

Well, it might have its own use that I don’t know about yet.

The second sub-skill was Skill Unpacking. If the first one was a compiler, this was the decompiler. It allowed him to break down a skill - which he saw as a macro - into the actual mechanism the skill used to achieve its effect.

Looking at it, wasn’t this the same situation as before? If he analyzed someone, he could already do this.

And the same was true for the last skill, Skill Loading, which allowed him to load skills into others. Just like he had done with Luna.

Looking at it all, weren’t skills kind of useless?
