Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System-Chapter 373 - 4/7]
Upon returning to the high-reaching bleachers of the Pit of Tartarus, the way Cassius viewed Zaraphina had changed quite a bit. He still saw her as a formidable foe, but not to the point that he felt any modicum of fear while looking at her.
To him, she was just another potential Loot Bag. A very delicious one, one might add.
Then again, considering her status as a daughter of Great Demon King Astaroth, perhaps it would be wiser to use her.
Smirking evilly, he watched intently as Zaraphina exploded with an enormous amount of killing intent. Her terrifying aura enveloped the Arena of Tartarus, sending slight tremors through the body of her opponent.
However, for the briefest of moments, her ferocious gaze got sidetracked, finding itself peering into the swirling blue abysses that were Cassius's eyes.
They locked eyes, time seemingly freezing for the two of them.
But with the billowing roar of Thundercrest, Zara's attention returned to the duel. Though, in the back of her mind, she kept a deadly intent meant for the man garbed in black. Part of it was due to his well-hidden strength, but the majority of it could be attributed to the fact that he was a man. And that he was… standing right beside Exisia.
Overflowing with anger, Zara's face twisted, becoming livid.
CRACKLE—
A giant mass of lightning materialized above Thundercrest's head, merely awaiting the go-ahead from the Announcer to unleash divine retribution on the Demon.
"Is everyone ready for this battle!?" the Announcer asked, building large amounts of hype among the crowd. "Because I sure am!! This could very well be the fight of the century!!! Ex-Angel Noble General of the Heavenly Court versus the Prodigy Daughter of the Great Demon King Astaroth—who will come out on top!?"
HOOOORAAAAHH!
Grinning from ear to ear, the Announcer raised his right arm from atop his floating platform. And after receiving the green light from the VIPs in the VIP stands, he dropped his arm:
"Commence the fight!!!"
The VIPs and everyone else in the guest stands watched with bated breath as ridiculous amounts of lightning crackled.
Then, with the blinking of a single eyelid, the two absolute powerhouses blurred toward one another.
Yet…
SHING! SHING!
"!?!?"
Sword smacked out of hand, Thundercrest's eyes widened in horror as Zaraphina's furious expression filled his vision. In her hands was a large, glowing purple-and-black Godlike-rank sword—one that had nearly cleaved Cassius in two on more than a single occasion.
"How is this possibl—"
SPLIT!
The audible sound of two parts of something gory being split in half bled into the ears of everyone spectating the fight. They looked on in pure astonishment, not entirely sure how they should react to what they had just seen.
FWOOOOM!
The remaining force behind Zaraphina's incomprehensible sword slash dug a chasm into the Arena—one that appeared so instantaneously that none of the spectators realized the only thing preventing them from being diced-up chunks of meat was the near-indestructible barrier separating the Fighting and Spectating segments of the Arena.
"What… What just happened…?" A Heavenly Commander in the VIP section couldn't believe his eyes. "How could Thundercrest lose in a single strike…!?"
Many others were just as taken aback as he was. One second, they were immersed in the beginning of a fight, and the next, Zara had somehow reappeared behind the deceased Thundercrest.
Impossible!
Insane!
Cheating!?
None could decide what to think anymore.
All they knew without a doubt in their minds was that Zaraphina, daughter of Great Demon King Astaroth, did not become the 102-time Champion of the Tartarus Arena without something to back her up!
Those who had bet on Zara's winning streak finally ending cried tears of blood. Some even took out their frustrations on others, causing widespread brawls to break out around the colossal arena.
Though, in the midst of the descending chaos, Cassius stood as aloof as ever. His mind seemed to completely zone out the stuttering of the Announcer, with all his focus on the violet-haired woman now glaring at him with a vengeance.
"How very amusing," Cassius grinned, making sure the fierce Demon Princess fully understood his intentions.
Her aura rapidly expanded, clearly not responding well to his greeting. However, treating their brief interactions like a joke, Cassius walked away from the scene. He called out to Yimin and Maxy to follow, whereas Raijin was already perched atop his shoulder.
Nyxvoldar, on the other hand, continued doing whatever he did in the Evomon Space.
Not even needing to check behind his shoulder, Cassius said, "Come on, Little Miss Angel. You want that problem of yours dealt with, do you not?"

Startled and in a daze, Exisia replied, "Y-Yes…"
Cassius chuckled, his smile growing colder. "Well, then, you're in luck, because I just so happen to be the perfect man for the job. I do, however, wonder just how you'll thank me for helping you."
Exisia froze like a deer in headlights, naughty thoughts surfacing inside her mind. However, when she realized he was just teasing her, the smallest of pouts formed as she huffed.
Cassius's laugh became even more irritating to her as he casually strolled through the pandemonium that was the outrage of the crowd. She didn't want to, but with a threat like Zara tracking her with a pair of vicious eyes, she had no choice but to catch up to possibly the only person who could protect her right now.
While on their way out of the huge Arena that lay suspended somewhere in the Abyss of Tartarus, Cassius prompted a question:
"You never did say: why is it that you're so averse to getting together with that Demon babe?" he inquired, hands holding the back of his head, a faint whistle leaving his lips. "I've heard of the promiscuity of Angels and Demons, and as far as I'm aware, you'll get together with anyone who's strong or capable enough. And as you know, strength doesn't see gender in this world we live in."
