Infinite Game - Start With SSS Rank Class-Chapter 80: Weird things?
’Just one hit and the durability drops by 1. That’s terrifying.’ Rover flinched, a bad feeling rising in his chest.
BAM!
Another impact sounded.
[Durability: -1]
Rover frowned, trying to sit up, but his body felt glued to the mattress. He couldn’t get up at all.
’What the hell?! Don’t tell me... this is a rule of the game?’ Rover thought.
BAM!
[Durability: -1]
Rover gritted his teeth. It had only been eight seconds, yet it felt unbearably long. Then something clicked in his mind, and confusion surged. ’Wait! The defense tower... I should have a defense tower. Why isn’t it attacking the monster?’
Even though he could only lie there, thankfully he could still use his thoughts to open the info panel.
The moment he saw the "Defense Tower" information, he cursed under his breath. ’Damn it!’
The defense tower wasn’t free; it cost 25 silver coins to buy. The Mini Silver Mine was the same, costing 56 silver coins.
BAM!
[Durability: -1]
When Rover saw his silver coins had reached 10, he ordered in his mind, ’Upgrade the door!’
[Ding! Door upgrade successful.]
[You have received a normal iron door.]
[Durability: 20/20]
[Defense: 7]
[Description: A normal iron door. It can temporarily block monsters.]
With the door upgraded, Rover finally let out a relieved breath. He still couldn’t see what was outside, but based on the sound alone, it felt very humanoid, but not human.
BAM!
The pounding came again, but this time the door’s durability didn’t drop, and Rover felt a little safer.
As he watched his silver coins keep increasing every second, he felt a bit more at ease. ’Maybe... this mission isn’t that dangerous. It’s just... what do those hints actually mean?’
Rover sighed. He couldn’t contact the others, so he had no idea how they were doing. But if there was only one monster in the hallway, the others would have plenty of time to upgrade their doors and beds.
BAM!
The impact rang out, along with the System’s notification.
[Durability: -1]
’Two attacks reduce one point of durability. That’s fine. I still have time to gather enough silver coins to upgrade the door,’ Rover thought.
Just then, the broadcast speaker crackled to life: [Congratulations, the night warden has leveled up.]
’What?!’ Rover felt like he’d misheard. Monsters could level up? That was a thing now?
BAM!
[Durability: -1]
’For fuck’s sake!’ Rover cursed inwardly. He couldn’t believe monsters could level up. If that was the case, how were Survivors like him supposed to live?
But Rover steadied himself quickly. He frowned and immediately ordered, ’System, upgrade the door with Omni Points.’
[Ding! You need to pay 100 Omni Points. Do you want to pay?]
’Accept!’
[Ding! The normal iron door has been successfully upgraded.]
[You have received a normal iron door.]
[Durability: 40/40]
[Defense: 10]

"Kekekeke..."
Rover didn’t even have time to feel happy about the upgraded door before a deranged laugh rang out, followed by heavy breathing, as if some enormous monster was standing right behind the door, waiting for him.
Even though he was still lying on the bed, the door was tightly shut, and there wasn’t a single crack or hole to peek through, he could still feel it, as if the monster outside was staring at him.
The air grew heavier and colder. That horrific breathing continued for a while, and then...
KRIT!!!
A grating sound erupted, like something extremely heavy and metallic being dragged across the floor, piercingly loud.
Even though that monster had left, Rover grew even more worried, because he knew it had moved to another room.
Here, he was the only one who could upgrade far beyond everyone else. Nanoe, Morie, and Leng Yan didn’t have abilities like his, so he feared the others’ doors would be broken down by that monster.
Rover clenched his teeth, his fingers twitching slightly, but at that moment, he realized something: none of his superpowers worked here.
’This is bad! Without superpowers, then... how the hell can everyone survive?’
Rover knew Leng Yan was strong, but what if her superpowers didn’t work? Would she still be as formidable as before?
But unlike what he’d feared, the monster’s footsteps grew farther and farther away. Then came the sound of an iron door opening, and finally, its footsteps vanished. The space fell back into silence.
Rover let out a long breath of relief. The tension in his nerves finally loosened, but right then, a wave of drowsiness crashed over him. He couldn’t resist it, and slowly slipped into sleep.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
"Hm?!" Rover jolted as someone pounded violently on his door.
He frowned and slowly woke up, only to see that the amount of silver coins he had had climbed to 350. His heart lurched. He hadn’t expected to suddenly pass out like that.
BAM! BAM!
The sound of something hitting rang out again. It wasn’t the sharp metallic slam of an iron door being struck, but more like... a wet lump of cloth being slapped hard against glass.
He frowned and looked toward the window.
The room wasn’t big. In fact, it was tiny. The only light came from a dim, flickering filament bulb above his head, swaying violently even though there was no wind.
"AGH!!!" Rover opened his mouth to scream, but no sound came out, as if an invisible barrier had sealed his throat.
In the room, under that faint, swinging light, a skinny woman stood with her back to him. She wore a white dress, but it was smeared with red-black stains, torn and ragged like a beggar’s.
Her bare feet were caked with mud on the floor. Her arms were thin as sticks, her nails long and dried so badly they’d cracked. Her hair was a tangled mess that hid her face, matted with fresh blood and dried blood.
BAM! BAM!
She stood at the window, repeatedly smashing her head against the wooden planks that had boarded it up. The force wasn’t strong, but the sound alone made Rover’s skin crawl.
BAM! BAM!
She seemed to ignore him completely, continuing to slam her head into the planks. Fresh blood from her scalp soaked the wood, and chunks of flesh even fell onto the floor.
Rover drew a deep breath, catching the stench of blood and a horrifying rot, like ten dead rats left to decompose for days.
His body felt a kind of cold. Not temperature, but a chill that sank straight into the mind and soul.
Rover gritted his teeth, his hand flicking slightly, but then he realized something terrifying: ’My superpowers... I can’t use my superpowers.’
That’s right. The superpowers [Mirror], [Shadow], and [Space Frezee] all couldn’t be used.
However, the superpower [Intuition] and the Class [Omni-Mechanic] were still functioning normally but he doesn’t know why.
BAM!!!
All of a sudden, the strange woman smashed her head hard enough that one plank snapped in half, bits of flesh and blood splattering everywhere.
Luckily, the bed Rover was lying on was far enough away. Otherwise, that flesh and blood would have sprayed onto him.
She froze in place, her body swaying as if she might collapse, but Rover didn’t dare move. He stayed on the bed, staring at her.
Then, she lifted her arm, thin as a twig, like it was nothing but skin and bone. Her trembling finger pointed toward the door.
Rover glanced at the door. He didn’t know when it had opened, but outside was pitch-black, impossible to see anything, like the mouth of a gigantic monster.
BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!
The woman ignored him and kept smashing her head into another plank on the window.
Rover took a deep breath, unsure what he should do next.
Leave the room?
But the rule was not to leave the room while the monsters were out.
Stay in this room?
But the door was already open. Staying here didn’t mean anything. And there was a bizarre woman in the room, slamming her head into the window. He didn’t even know if she was human or a ghost.
Crop! Crop! Crop!
Suddenly, something dropped from the woman’s dress and rolled toward Rover.
He frowned and looked closely, realizing it was a flashlight. It was smeared with blood and bits of flesh, along with some sticky slime he had no idea what the hell it was.
Beside it, an info panel appeared. Rover immediately glanced at the woman, then used his thoughts to open the panel.
[Normal Flashlight]
[Type: Item]
[Level: Basic]
[Upgrade Requirement: 200 Omni Points]
[Description: A flashlight used for illumination, with a maximum range of 5 meters. Occasionally, you can use this flashlight to see some weird things.]
"Weird things?" Rover frowned, picked up the flashlight, then used a towel from his backpack to wipe it clean.
He tried turning it on. A weak beam spilled out and shone straight at the woman who was smashing her head into the window.
"What the hell?!"
