Infinite Regeneration In The Apocalypse-Chapter 121: Arrested!
Stunned and completely speechless, the impaled soldier died with absolute shock frozen in his eyes. His mouth hung open slightly, his final expression one of utter disbelief that a newly awakened Level 1 Stellar Knight could have possibly killed him so easily.
At first, nobody in the chaotic stadium noticed the dead soldier among all the confusion. Students were still awakening from their trials, some transforming into radiants, others celebrating their survival. The sounds of combat, cheering, crying, and dying all blended together into overwhelming noise that made it difficult to focus on any single event.
But then one of the patrolling soldiers happened to glance in the direction of Vogue’s cage and noticed his fallen comrade pinned grotesquely against the metal bars with a spear through his torso. Blood pooled beneath the body, dripping steadily onto the concrete.
The soldier’s face went pale. He immediately called out to the other guards stationed nearby, his voice carrying alarm and urgency.
"Fuck! It seems a student who turned into a radiant managed to escape detection and hide among the survivors! Find it before it gets out into the streets and starts killing civilians!"
Several soldiers immediately began searching through nearby cages, weapons raised and ready, looking for the radiant they assumed must be responsible for killing their colleague.
"Stop searching," Vogue’s calm voice cut through the commotion. "I did it."
Every soldier within hearing range froze and turned to stare at him. Confusion was written clearly across their faces. Vogue wasn’t a radiant—his eyes were normal, his behavior was rational, and he showed no signs of corruption. So why would he kill a soldier?
"That man was a member of the Shadow-Wing Gang," Vogue explained casually, his tone matter-of-fact as though discussing something mundane. "He was sent here specifically to assassinate me. I killed him purely in self-defense when he attempted to murder me in my cage."
The soldiers exchanged uncertain glances with each other, unsure how to process this information. This kid had just awakened mere hours ago at most. How could he possibly have the strength to overpower one of their colleagues, a 6th-level Stellar Knight with years of combat experience?
It didn’t make logical sense.
One of the senior soldiers, a grizzled man with a scar across his jaw, stepped forward and made a decision. "Seize him. Once we conduct a proper investigation, we’ll naturally determine whether what he’s saying is true or not. Until then, he’s under arrest for killing a guard."
The other soldiers moved immediately to comply with the order. They opened Vogue’s cage door, rushed inside, and grabbed him by the arms. They roughly pinned him face-first against the cage wall and pulled his arms behind his back, slapping heavy metal handcuffs around his wrists that clicked shut with finality.
Vogue didn’t resist at all. He allowed them to restrain him without any struggle, knowing that fighting back would only make his situation worse and lend credibility to the idea that he was dangerous and out of control.
The soldiers had just finished securing him and were beginning to escort him out of the cage when a familiar figure suddenly appeared and blocked their path.
Teacher Raine stood there with her arms crossed, her expression completely neutral. Her glasses reflected the light from the two crimson moons that had risen in the night sky, making it impossible to see her eyes clearly.
"Release him," she spoke with complete indifference, as though she were commenting on the weather rather than contradicting armed soldiers.
The soldiers’ faces changed slightly with a mixture of respect and irritation. "With all due respect, Teacher Raine, this student killed one of our own! We can’t just—"
"I won’t ask again." Her voice turned noticeably colder, dropping several degrees in temperature. She gazed directly at the soldiers with an intensity that made even experienced warriors uncomfortable.
The pressure radiating from her was subtle but undeniable. Teacher Raine was a high-level Stellar Knight herself, far beyond any of the guards present. If she decided to make this an issue, it could become very problematic for them.
The lead soldier grunted and gritted his teeth in frustration, but ultimately he made a gesture to the others. They reluctantly removed the handcuffs from Vogue’s wrists and stepped back, releasing him from custody.
"Thanks," Vogue said with genuine surprise in his voice. He hadn’t expected Teacher Raine to intervene on his behalf, given their somewhat complicated history.
"I saw the whole thing from my observation position," Teacher Raine explained simply. "The deceased soldier did attack you first with clear lethal intent. You were defending yourself. It’s not a problem."
She adjusted her glasses slightly, her expression unreadable. "I see you managed to survive the trial. That’s good."
With those brief words, Teacher Raine nodded her head once in acknowledgment and then started walking away, her heels clicking against the concrete as she returned to her duties.
At the same time, the school’s principal made his way to the elevated platform that served as the high table overlooking the stadium. He was an elderly man with white hair but a powerful presence that commanded immediate attention.
The principal raised his hands, and the stadium gradually fell silent as everyone turned their attention to him.
"Congratulations to all of you on awakening and successfully becoming Stellar Knights," he began, his voice magically amplified to carry throughout the entire space. "I’m pleased to inform you that thirty percent of this year’s class successfully completed their trials and returned alive."
He paused to let that sink in. "This is actually quite an average survival rate compared to historical data. While it saddens me deeply that we lost so many promising young students, I’m also proud that so many future powerhouses have been born from your class. You should all do well to live up to your potential and honor the memory of those who didn’t make it back."
The principal’s expression became more businesslike as he continued with practical information.
