Chapter 31: Temptation

Terrence’s eyes swept across the door in front of them. It was massive, luxurious, and made of translucent crystal so clean it almost looked unreal.

His curiosity flared instantly.

"So what is this place, Queen-"

"Call me Miyoko.."

She turned toward him with a smile.

But it wasn’t just a smile.

Her cheeks were faintly flushed, and for some reason..she held his gaze a little too long. Just long enough to make the air shift. Just long enough to make it feel like something unspoken had slipped into the space between them.

Then she quickly turned away, as if she realized what she’d done.

As if she was hoping no one noticed.

[Yeep she wants to fuck you.]

Terrence’s expression didn’t change but inside, his instincts tightened.

’Guess I gotta leave here earlier than expected.’

He liked King Lars.

And no matter how tempting the situation might become, Terrence wasn’t the type to betray someone behind their back. Not like that.

Miyoko cleared her throat, regaining control of herself.

"This is what is known as the Royal Vault. It contains various weapons, items, artifacts, and more from past fallen heroes. Every single one that died."

She turned fully toward the group now, her voice was steady and royal again.

"We would like for you all to have everything inside of here for free."

Silence hit the moment her words landed.

Ariel blinked.

Eiselle’s eyes widened.

Treasure looked like she was about to ask if this was a joke.

Terrence raised an eyebrow. "No catch? I mean wouldn’t these be useful for your own people? Like I said, I’ll be fine on my own. I didn’t kill the Demon King for a reward."

Miyoko’s lips curved slightly, but it wasn’t warmth.

It was something sharper.

"Now that the Demon King is dead, we no longer have use for them and it would be a waste letting them rot away."

She paused.

Then continued like she was choosing her next words carefully.

"There’s actually only one catch. Follow me if you will, Terrence..just Terrence."

That made the atmosphere shift again.

Terrence stared at her for a beat, reading the tone underneath the words.

Then he nodded.

He turned back to the others, offering them a calm smile like this was nothing.

"I’ll be back in a second."

Ariel looked at Eiselle.

Eiselle looked at Treasure.

Treasure didn’t even blink, just watched.

And as Terrence and Miyoko walked away into the vault, disappearing deeper into the crystal-lit halls..

Only one knowing thought sat in each of their minds.

Queen Miyoko led Terrence through a transparent crystal tunnel, the walls glowing faintly like frozen moonlight.

The air inside smelled strangely fresh, like flowers blooming on a blazing summer day.

It was clean and peaceful.

Like the world outside didn’t exist.

"You all must love each other and are close.." she said quietly, her voice softer than before.

Terrence noticed the shift, but he didn’t call it out.

"Yes indeed. We have each other and I’m closest to them than anyone else."

He let that sit for a second.

Then added, deliberately-

"Similar to how you and the King are."

He watched her closely after that.

Watched the way her shoulders tensed.

Watched the way her expression flickered.

She gave a light scoff, like the words tasted bitter.

"How can I love someone my parents forced me to be with in order to get out of poverty?"

Terrence didn’t respond or interrupt.

He just looked at her, fully focused now.

Miyoko smiled, but there was no joy in it.

"Oh you didn’t know? The facade Lars put out towards everyone else is different to how he really is behind closed doors..at least to me."

Terrence lifted a hand slightly, a silent gesture telling her to continue.

So she did.

"Lars never really loved me. He’s from a wealthy and prestigious family that uses women like us as tools to have just for the fun of it."

Her voice stayed calm, but her eyes didn’t.

They carried something deeper.

Something heavy.

"Unfortunately for me, I was his most favorite ’tool’ that he decided to breed with and marry."

They finally stopped.

A medium-sized crystal door stood in front of them, smooth and polished like it had never been touched by dust or time.

Terrence stared at it, but his mind wasn’t on the door anymore.

He was still processing her words.

He never would’ve guessed King Lars was like that.

Miyoko’s hand rested on the handle.

"But today is the day I decide to live my life on my own terms..at least for this particular moment."

The door opened.

Inside was a clean bedroom, elegant and silent, dominated by a snow-white king-sized bed that looked untouched and almost ceremonial.

Miyoko stepped in.

Then she threw her crown to the side like it disgusted her.

It clinked against the floor and rolled away.

And in that single sound, Terrence felt it.

This wasn’t a queen anymore.

This was a woman who had reached her limit.

She turned toward him and slowly undid her gown with no hesitation or shame.

The fabric slipped down, revealing her naked, curvaceous body, smooth and glistening like she’d prepared herself long before this moment.

Terrence’s eyes widened slightly, caught off guard by the sheer boldness of it.

Miyoko brushed her long moonlight-black hair out of the way.

Her purple eyes were clouded with lust, longing, and need.

Her face and even her skin began to flush red, like her own desire was burning her from the inside out.

"So I ask you Terrence..will you help me?"

Damn..

Now what was the right way he went about this?

Suddenly both of them heard footsteps and Terrence knew he no longer needed to make that decision anymore.

"Queen Miyoko-" The voice was Ariel’s and Terrence could sense the other two with her. "how dare you try to make love to my Master without inviting us?"

She stepped beside Terrence, her hands were on her hips. She was smirking with an eyebrow raised.

Treasure stepped on his other side and Eiselle was behind him.

[Hahaha happy fucking birthday!!]

Welp..duty calls
