Infinite Slaughter System: I Kill, Therefore I Ascend!-Chapter 154: Triumphant Return!
The spectacle was over, and the skies were clear now.
It was time to deal with the inevitable aftermath of these shocking yet short events, so when Li Ling shooed away the golden mist, he found many auras rapidly approaching his location.
Turning to face them, he only really paid attention to the one in the lead, which was that of Gu Yin. Her towering yin aura was reminiscent of Bai Yegui’s but multiplied by more than a thousand times, meaning she was most likely of the Hungry Ghost Path.
Indeed, when Li Ling scanned her, he confirmed his suspicions.
「Name: Gu Yin
Status: Anxious, Excited.
Age: 1459/3300
Slaughter Points Value: 1,001,000
Cultivation Base: Dao Integration Wood Vein (76%) || Golden Body Perfection (100%)
Cultivation Methods: Hungry Ghost Soul || Yin Ghost Silver Body Mantra
Remarks: Gu Yin is a clanless cultivator who rose up through the ranks on her own merits, but was forced down the elder path due to a lack of talent and ability to compete in the middle layer. She has no special traits nor any special destiny, but has taken an interest in you and wishes to make use of your talent to rise once more and enter the upper layer of the sect!」
Immediately, Li Ling showed a positive expression toward Gu Yin, not because she had helped him or anything, but because she was probably the first person the system had scanned in a while who didn’t have some ridiculous background or motive toward him.
As for wanting to jump on his train after seeing the results of this breakthrough, he would rather be extremely vigilant and cold if she didn’t harbor any intentions toward him.
"Greetings, esteemed Elder Gu. I have to say, you are extremely reliable, clearing the area for my breakthrough like that! It truly shows you are someone worth working with!" Li Ling said frankly, and although his tone was respectful in terms of intonation, one could also feel the pride behind them.
However, Gu Yin thought nothing of this. Rather, she was extremely delighted by the fact that Li Ling was proud, meaning that his standards would be high and he wouldn’t easily be swayed by cheap propositions.
Likewise, his ability to show respect despite whatever backing he may have also showed that he was clever, mature, and intelligent—someone who would not give you headaches as a pig-headed teammate once you worked with him.
"Indeed, Junior Li is quite remarkable. With such talent, it is natural to receive preferred treatment. Now that you are done, I assume you would like to return to the sect’s main base as soon as possible."
Li Ling gave Gu Yin an appreciative glance, rating her even higher in his heart. Most would try to invite him to their bases or abodes under the guise of needing to rest or to host him, but she literally allowed him to ’escape’ her grasp, which showed incredible confidence and risk-taking.
Because once Li Ling left, she wouldn’t be able to follow for some time due to the sect’s policy on movement once signed onto a battlefront.
By the time she could get herself clear, everyone and their mother would have gotten news of Li Ling and sent their representatives to present their offers, and a clanless Dao Integration elder like her could not compare to some of the intra-sect clans and factions.
But she still made the offer, because not making it would directly eliminate her from Li Ling’s considerations entirely. Gu Yin had once been hailed as a genius before she hit her bottleneck, so she knew how geniuses thought and felt, so she simply put herself in Li Ling’s shoes and assumed what he wanted at this time.
"Indeed, it’s best to return to see my people before I get held up here by the hangers-on as well as the naysayers. Can I rely on you to get that done, Path Elder Gu?" Li Ling took her up on her offer, whether she really intended it or not.
He didn’t feel confident continuing to break through in the Shen Clan Estate, because anything could happen here in this outpost.
Gu Yin paused for a split second, something which Li Ling noted with internal amusement, but nodded her head.
"Indeed, I can handle your expeditious return to the sect. Come with me to the Teleportation Square." Gu Yin could only say this regardless of whatever unwillingness she felt, taking Li Ling to the nearby Teleportation Square.
This one’s size was about twice that of what had previously been at the Black Heaven Sect War Outpost, but then again, that was a given.
One was merely for the Six Paths Halls, and the other was for the Six Paths Demon Sect—the lower sect versus the middle sect. Not only did the gap in cultivation change drastically, but so too did the scale of things both sides needed shift as well.
Li Ling felt the strong spatial aura and nodded his head with satisfaction internally, feeling that this outpost lived up to its name. Just as he descended with Gu Yin and was about to leave to head back, their group was hurriedly stopped by someone.
"Hold on a moment!"
An unfamiliar voice shouted, causing those who operated the teleportation hall to stop, but neither Li Ling nor Gu Yin paid them attention.
Li Ling continued to step through the calibrated portal and disappeared from the hall, Gu Yin looking at his back with a deep gaze. She had a feeling that this young man was interested in working with her, but not now.
Which struck her as extremely strange, since it would theoretically be better for him to work with her now that he was weaker and needed more help rather than later when her utility would decrease, but unless she forced him to stay, there was no way to get an answer to her thoughts.
As for the ones who shouted to stop, their faces paled seeing they were overtly ignored, and they too could not leave this area until they sought permission from the sect.
They glanced at the cold-faced Gu Yin, who was contemplating her own matters, and didn’t dare to scold her, so they could only take their anger out on the teleportation hall staff, who were aggrieved because they had no idea what was even going on!
Meanwhile, Li Ling stepped out of the gigantic teleportation hall in the Holy City, feeling extremely nostalgic despite having only been here once around two weeks ago.
More than that, with his upgraded cultivation talents and especially his secret Void Seeking Physique, the entire place felt very different to him now compared to how it had been two weeks ago.
The first was the ambient spiritual energy, which had seemed extremely viscous and near mist-like to former Li Ling, giving the entire city an ethereal feeling, and which was now being sucked by his voracious core like it was a milkshake going down the gullet of a city girl.
Even as he stepped, many others glanced at him with furrowed brows or annoyed frowns, feeling the greed of his suction, which directly hijacked the flow of spiritual energy for others.
However, seeing the white-and-gold sect robes, they didn’t dare say anything, because how could they complain about someone enjoying the boons of their own territory?
Secondly, Li Ling could not help but glance back at the giant space behind him, where cultivators were coming and going with different expressions, situations, and power levels from all over the continent.
What dazzled him was the aura of spatial power that radiated from this place, how stable it was despite the continuous usage, and the sheer magnitude of its operation.
It was like a modern person who understood PCs and cooling, standing before a huge rig that was running the latest ray-tracing at the highest settings at perfect performance while the fans were near inert and soundless.
It was just a miracle of operation!
Li Ling sighed deeply, feeling that different qualities made for different understandings. With a step, he traversed the boulevard of the city, able to take in its sights much more slowly and more deeply compared to the first time he came with Bai Ruyi.
After all, even if it seemed like he had escaped back then, anything could have happened. Until the moment Tang Huo bestowed him the Asura Blood Token, he did not have any feeling of security.
Now, coming back, he was a full Path Ascender of the Six Paths Demon Sect, with many eyes looking at him with envy!
Now, his head was even held high, with a hint of disdain in his heart! 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Now, all that was left was to return to the sect, spend all his Slaughter Points on his cultivation and unique immortal arts, then capture that woman Bai Ruyi to give birth to an entire football team!
Feeling an urge to laugh uproariously, Li Ling reached the front of the Asura Blood Hall when his eyes fell upon a banner that was boldly displayed at the gates.
