Infinite Slaughter System: I Kill, Therefore I Ascend!-Chapter 198: The Seven Sins True Inheritors!
The rankings on the stele flashed one last time, the list of thirty-two names fixing into place as a roar swept through the arena like a tidal wave.
"Senior Brother Liang Yue, crush them!!"
"Wild Beast Hall’s Hu Lili, rend them to asunder!"
"Shi Gaolin! Show those hypocrites what real manliness is!"
"Bei Dongshi, don’t blink! ...Ah, right."
The minor geniuses who made it to the top 32 were cheered on by their fellow disciples from the same halls who basically tried to ’will’ them to glory.
True Human Hall disciples chanted for Cao Xian, Divine Deva Hall disciples shook jade fans and called for ’Judge Shen’, while the Asura Blood Hall section was the loudest, half of them howling Li Ling’s name and the other half crying for Wang Feng’s blood.
Above, the arena shifted again as the tournament array was substituted from the previous formation to a new form. The flat stage sank, re-forming into a broad circular platform surrounded by thirty-two smaller stone disks that rose from the ground, becoming personal battle platforms for the upcoming one-on-one duels.
"The round of thirty-two." The Divine Deva Overseer’s voice rolled out, amused.
He raised his eyebrows. "From this point, it is simple. You win and advance upward, but lose and you remain in the lower layer for another year. As for life or death... it will be decided according to the sect’s rules."
Hearing the word ’death’, the crowd only grew more excited.
On the lower sect Hall Masters’ platform, Tang Huo’s expression was not so good, as he compared his own disciple, who was being ostracized due to his messy choices versus Li Ling who was being uplifted.
Wild Beast Hall’s Hu Wulei threw his head back and laughed, muscles bulging under his tight robe. "As long as someone makes that little lioness of mine go all out, I’ll be happy!"
Gu Mugui sat with his back straight and eyes half-lidded, faint yin mist seeping from his sleeves. "My Hungry Ghost juniors should not embarrass me either. One is a second-life monster and the other is my disciple, a proper butcher... this should be acceptable."
Yan Moqing of Desolate Hell merely folded her sleeves, purple hair shimmering faintly beneath her veil as her eyes tracked Bei Dongshi’s tall form. Complex emotions flickered in her gaze before she severed them resolutely.
Cao Tian of True Human Hall flicked a talisman fan open and closed, smirking. "With Little Sis and those other brats, the lower layer won’t lose all face."
The Divine Deva Hall Master, Shen Taixu, leaned back with a mild smile, gaze lingering on Shen Jian. "As long as that boy doesn’t die stupidly, I’m content. The rest... hah."
Higher still, the Six Paths Path Saints sat in a line, the true pillars of the middle layer.
Asura Blood Path Saint Sha Ren lounged with one leg over the other, crimson hair spreading around carelessly, his blood-colored eyes locked on the lone youth in white below. "That brat’s karma cloak was pleasing. Let’s see how much he can stain the arena with blood."
Path Saint Hei An of the Hungry Ghost Path tilted her hooded skull slightly, her empty eye sockets gleaming with an eerie light as she gazed at Bai Yegui and Shi Gaolin. "Second life existence, Yin Warrior... hungry souls indeed. I expect a feast."
Pang Po of the True Human Path stuffed another spiritual pastry into her mouth and talked around it. "As long as they don’t destroy the formation cores I engraved, they can kill as much as they like."
Zhang Luo, the Divine Deva Path Saint, sat straight-backed, her white hair falling elegantly over her golden scarf. Her silver eyes were cool as she watched Shen Jian, her expectations high but unspoken.
Wild Beast Path Saint Wang Kuangnu bared her canines in a grin. "Hu Lili, don’t disappoint me. If you lose without at least tearing off an arm, I’ll beat you myself."
Desolate Hell’s bandaged Path Saint, Zhen Mingshen, chuckled faintly, voice like gravel. "Karma Killer, Infinite Slaughter, Reincarnated Evil... this generation is amusing. It was a good idea to gouge out my eyes back then and sacrifice them to karma, or how could I witness their grand fates like this?"
Finally, all gazes slid to the man seated at the highest throne.
Sect Master Ming Yue leaned his cheek on one hand, golden eyes half-closed, the corners of his lips holding an enigmatic smile.
"The preliminaries have been... interesting. From here on, the real show begins."
As the noise of the crowd started to rise again, a new wave of whispers rose from the fourth box in the Six Paths Demon Sect’s high platform.
Seven figures in luxurious crimson and black robes stood there, the insignia of blooming roses and inverted halos marking them as the Seven Sins Sect’s true inheritors.
At their center sat a woman in form-fitting black dress bound tightly over an hourglass waist, over which a split scarlet gown that bared pale thighs was sheathed in lace-topped stockings.
She wore a black lace veil that covered the lower half of her face, accomapnied by a blood-red gem on her forehead.
Her long pink hair flowed in loose waves down her back, threaded through a black coronet tht was incidentally shaped like demonic horns and roses.
Her eyes, a calm yet detached red color, watched the arena with bored amusement, as if everything beneath her was a stage play.
This was Su Meiluo, True Inheritor of Lust.
To her right sat a tall young man in immaculate crimson and black robes, his dark hair slicked back, and his brown eyes like cold stars.
This was the True Inheritor of Pride, Rong Aotian, whose very posture was as if to say that existence itself was beneath him.
Beside him lounged a broad-shouldered youth with wild indigo colored hair and a scar running across his nose, the fellow’s arms folded, highlighting the flame-pattern tattoos that crawled up his neck.
This was the True Inheritor of Wrath, Yan Liehu, whose aura was like a nuclear warhead cooked in wine!
On Su Meiluo’s left, a thin man in the embroidered robes of the Seven Sins Demon Sect sat, his ten fingers weighed down by various spatial rings and jade bands.
This was Qin Taishou, True Inheritor of Greed, whose pupils shrank to slits whenever profit was mentioned.
Next came a green-robed, sharp-eyed woman whose beauty was marred only by the evil covetousness and rapaciousness in her gaze, constantly measuring and comparing all things.
This was Liu Qingying, True Inheritor of Envy, who only had eyes for Li Ling.
Half-slumped in a cushioned chair was a sleepy girl with blue hair and a fluffy pillow tucked under one arm, eyelids drooping even as she watched the stage.
This was Zhou Lanxue, True Inheritor of Sloth, and she was only able to stay awake thanks to her mild interest in the upset that was this tournament.
Finally, nibbling unconsciously on a skewer of spirit beast meat, stood a plump yet strangely alluring girl with round cheeks and bright eyes, Guo Manman, True Inheritor of Gluttony. She was not overweight nor obese, still retaining the curvaceous figure of a woman, but she had some blubber on her body that almost formed folds.
A Grand Elder of the Seven Sins Demon Sect stepped forward and cupped his fists toward Ming Yue’s throne. "Our Seven Sins Demon Sect thanks Sect Master Ming Yue for the invitation. To see the Six Paths Demon Sects tournament with our own eyes is an honor."
Ming Yue smiled faintly and returned the gesture. "Our two sects share many... interests. Watching your little seeds react to ours should provide some entertainment."
The focus of thousands of disciples naturally swung to the few Seven Sins inheritors.
Rong Aotian snorted with derision. "Hmph! A bunch of demonic bumpkins playing house with karma wheels and talent tests! If not for that Asura brat and the karma-less one, this would barely be worth my time!"
Yan Liehu grinned, grinning widely. "As long as someone bleeds and continues fighting, I’m satisfied. That Li Ling fellow... his slaughter cloak smelled pretty good!"
Qin Taishou’s rings glinted in the sunlight as he counted them on his fingers. "So many future Immortal-tier prospects... if our sect can snag even one in marriage or alliance, the profit margins..."
Liu Qingying’s lip curled slightly as her gaze passed over Shen Ziyan, Bai Ruyi, and finally Su Meiluo herself. "Hmph, so many supreme beauties... they should all be mine, how dare others take them from me!"
Zhou Lanxue yawned. "Wake me up when someone does something that shakes the arena again..."
Guo Manman chewed thoughtfully. "Do you think that Infinite Slaughter guy tastes like... spicy?"
As for Su Meiluo, she simply watched Li Ling’s distant figure, her crimson eyes narrowing behind the lace. "That is the Asura War Demon huh?"
"Somehow, I feel like I should avoid him at all costs..." She murmured, not sure why her spirit and soul recoiled at the sight of the young man.
