Infinite Slaughter System: I Kill, Therefore I Ascend!-Chapter 204: The Round of 32! - End
Meanwhile, on the sidelines, the other competitors waiting to fight in the next round were deeply moved by the sight of this daoist art.
Hu Lili whistled. "That thing’s cool as hell!"
Cao Xian’s eyes narrowed. "He turned their entire offensive arsenal into a joke with no punchline. Heh, typical Asura War Demon behavior."
Bai Yegui’s lips thinned. "If he has a perfect defense and overwhelming offense... ours will not be a pleasant rematch."
Shi Gaolin and Wang Feng both wore extremely ugly expressions because as offensive specialists, there was nothing more humiliating than watching attack after attack vanish like pebbles into a bottomless pond.
Shi Feng panted heavily with sweat beading his brow, his Hungry Ghost Avatar strained by the continuous output and beginning to flicker around the edges. However, the jeers from his enemies and fearful whispers from the stands stabbed at his back like needles.
"I refuse... to be made into a clown by you after all I have been through to get here!"
He bit his tongue hard enough to bleed, spitting the blood into his avatar. The avatar’s eyes flared, and an oily purple-black sheen emerged over its surface, which was the sign of him burning his own life force for power.
"Hungry Ghost Path: Netherworld Feast!"
The avatar exploded into a tide of shrieking wraiths that hurled themselves at Li Ling from every direction, claws outstretched, jaws unhinged, ready to devour his flesh to the last bone.
Unfortunately for them, the Chaos Barrier didn’t even ripple as, one by one, the specters hit the pitch black surface and came apart like sand sculptures struck by a tidal wave, dispersing into particles of primordial qi that were promptly absorbed and neutralized.
When the last ghost vanished, Shi Feng’s knees buckled because his Dharma Power was completely consumed and his already pale body became withered due the forced burning of vitality.
As for his Hungry Ghost Avatar that still stood tall behind him, it collapsed entirely and retracted into his body.
He stared stupidly at Li Ling, who hadn’t taken a single step since the fight began.
"I...can’t... even crack it..." Shi Feng muttered weakly as blood leaked from the side of his mouth, his body swaying then toppling forward and hitting the tiles face-first, falling unconscious.
The arena became deathly silent and even the previously bloodthirsty and noisy Asura Blood Hall section looked shaken.
After all, this was something that transcended paths or affiliations. To fight a foe that could negate all your attacks until you drained all your energy and became a helpless lamb at their feet, who could cheer for that?
Li Ling chuckled as he allowed the Chaos Barrier to fall into its pool like state, forming a black inky mass beneath his feet that extended for around five meters around his body.
"Is that it? I did tell you to go all out." He asked the collapsed youth mildly.
Still tormenting the fellow and taunting him after he was unconscious? Just how cruel and malicious was this Asura War Demon fellow?
The Divine Deva Overseer lips twitched as he raised a hand to call a halt. "Match—"
"Ah Senior, that wont do! Allow me to finish what I started." Li Ling cut in, eyes glinting as he stepped forward with purpose.
For some reason, a deep instinctive chill ran through the crowd as they felt their backs become cold.
Finish what he started? What... what did he mean by that?
Li Ling casually strolled across the arena toward Shi Feng, each step echoing loudly in the ears of listeners, seemingly echoing with their heartbeats.
The Chaos Barrier emerged, this time the ten tendrils coming together for form a wide pane like liquid blackness that loomed over the fallen Hungry Ghost disciple like the sky about to fall.
Somewhere in the stands, a Hungry Ghost Path sect elder finally shouted! "Enough, Li Ling! He has already lost—"
Sha Ren’s blood-colored eyes turned toward the sect elder, and the shout died in the fellow’s throat.
Shi Feng’s eyes weakly opened just in time to see Li Ling’s shadow fall over him as the young man had bent over with a smile.
"You remember my announcement, don’t you? Anyone who stands across from me on this stage shall die?" Li Ling asked, voice soft.
What chilled everyone was the fact that while Li Ling wore an amicable smile that was entirely pleasant, his eyes held intense malice and belligerence as if he was a butcher killing another pig for the day’s quota.
The extremely thick, tree trunk like tendril of Chaos Barrier slapped downwards like a whip, enveloping Shi Feng completely without actually damaging him physically.
Strangely, for a moment, nothing seemed to happen.
Then the black tendrils ’jelly-like’ nature began to activate as its mass began to move back and forth like a rumbling stomach, rubbing all over the still visible Shi Feng encased with its form.
Immediately, the young man screamed with such agony that it shattered the silence of the arena.
It wasn’t the scream that came from being slashed by a sword or punched in the face, but a rather was a high pitched and near inhuman sound that came from his throat as his body began to break down away from the outside in.
His skin, pale and withered as it was due to his crazy power release earlier, now actually began to turn into dust.
What was worse was that this dust disintegrated even further, vanishing in tiny motes of elemental light between the heaven and earth!
Horrifyingly, the entire process was slow and deliberate from Li Ling, targeting the arms first, then the legs, and after that came the torso.
Each layer of physical existence was taken apart into more and more basic components, fed into the endlessly rotating mass of the inky black tendril.
No blood was spilled, no gore was splashed... there was simply less and less of Shi Feng with each passing heartbeat.
Yet his screams never stopped, somehow existing in that high volume and high pitch even as his throat was unmade.
"Stop... please stop..." Someone couldn’t help but whisper, their voice shaking terribly.
"This is worse than being blown up in one hit!" Another was chilled down to the bone, barely able to speak with his teeth chattering.
"He’s... unmaking him." A True Inheritor pointed out with a look of morbid interest and shock at such cruelty.
Even hardened demonic cultivators felt their stomachs clench in terror, because what kind of death was this?
The slow inevitability of it, the way Shi Feng’s screams remained thunderous even as his lungs themselves were unmade, had carved itself into their minds far more deeply than an instant death would have.
On the high platform, a few Path Elders sighed and turned their heads away, while others forced themselves to watch, faces pale or grim.
Bei Dongshi’s blindfolded head tilted slightly, as if memorizing the pattern of Shi Feng’s vanishing karma, not passing a comment nor looking uncomfortable at all.
Bai Yegui’s eyes sparkled with a hint of a crazy smile. "How cruel... how beautiful!"
Hu Lili shivered, then licked her lips. "He’s so evil!"
"Why do I suddenly feel like mating with him?" she muttered to herself with confusion.
Shen Ziyan’s fingers dug into the armrest of her seat, holy light flickering around her like a barely restrained storm. Her eyes, however, remained calm as they watched and measured her new ’husband’.
Bai Ruyi simply shook her head with lament, having known more about Li Ling heartless cruelty than anyone else. What surprised her thought, was Li Lingyi laughing and clapping her little hands in joy as the sound of Shi Feng’s screams.
In the Seven Sins Box, Su Meiluo’s expression became one of strangness. "How banal and crude... but quite effect in intimidation."
Within the Chaos Barrier, Shi Feng’s voice finally broke into hoarse whimpers, then into pure silence.
His head, the last remaining piece of him that was yet to go, came apart like a sand sculpture in the wind, his spirit dispersing between heaven and earth.
When nothing remained, the Chaos Barrier shrank back into Li Ling’s body and vanished, leaving only smooth tiles where a living person had lain moments before.
Li Ling looked up at the stunned arena, his dark blue eyes shining with cruel amusement.
"First opponent down!" He said lightly.
He then raised a single finger up. "That’s one kill."
At that moment, even among the Six Paths Demon Sect, even among hardened killers and demonic prodigies, most people finally understood.
Li Ling wasn’t posturing when he made his declaration!
