Meanwhile, deep beneath the rushing waters, the River Lurker go through the currents. Its massive jaws held him tightly, weaving around sharp rocks and tangled roots with practiced ease. The water grew darker as they descended, sunlight fading away.

As they reached the riverbed, the Lurker swam toward a large crack between two massive rocks. It squeezed through, its slippery body fitting perfectly as it pushed forward into an underground tunnel. The water pressure changed, and the current slowed.

[You have entered a Hidden Dungeon: Lurker's Nest]

The tunnel opened up into a massive underwater cavern, its ceiling dripping with strange glowing moss that lit the water in an eerie green light. Fish-like creatures with translucent bodies scattered as the Lurker passed by, hissing and snapping their needle-like teeth.

The River Lurker thrashed wildly in the depths of the cavern, its huge body twisting and turning. It screeched loudly, the sound echoing through the water, making bubbles rise to the surface. Its fins slapped against the rocky walls, sending clouds of dirt and small rocks floating around.

Other River Lurkers nearby stopped what they were doing. They turned their glowing eyes toward the noise, slowly swimming closer. Their jaws clicked together as if communicating, but they kept their distance, watching the panicked Lurker.

The screeching grew louder, almost painful to hear, even underwater. It was like the Lurker was in deep pain, its body jerking and flailing with no control. It slammed into the cavern walls again and again, shaking the moss-covered stones and sending vibrations through the water.

One of the Lurkers moved in closer, sniffing the water cautiously. It swam around the screeching Lurker, clicking its teeth as if trying to understand what was happening.

But the Lurker only thrashed harder, its tail whipping around and cracking against the rocks. Its glowing eyes flickered, and its screeches grew desperate, almost like a cry for help.

The other Lurkers clicked nervously, circling the panicking one but not getting too close. They seemed confused, unsure if they should help or stay away.

Suddenly, the Lurker stopped thrashing for a moment, its body floating still. The others paused, watching closely. But then it jerked again, screeching louder than before, the water around it bubbling and shaking.

The River Lurker thrashed wildly, its massive body slamming against the rocky walls of the underwater cavern. Its screeches grew louder and more desperate, sending vibrations through the water. The other Lurkers circled closer, clicking their jaws nervously.

Suddenly, with a burst of force, something sharp and bright pierced through the Lurker's thick skin from the inside. A glowing crimson light cut through its scales, and the beast's screech stopped abruptly, its body going limp.

Bubbles rose rapidly as a figure emerged from the Lurker's massive wound, stepping out into the murky water with not a single scratch.

The other Lurkers froze for a moment, their glowing eyes locking onto him. Then, as if understanding the danger, they screeched loudly, the noise echoing through the cavern. It was like an alarm—an intruder alert.

Seojun's eyes narrowed. "Noisy," he muttered.

Seojun stood inside the massive cavern, the air thick with dampness and the distant echo of rushing water. The River Lurker's screeching grew louder as it twisted in agony, its body thrashing against the cave floor. Seojun wiped a bit of sludge off his shoulder and using the crimson dagger he stabbed the lurker ending its agony.

The other River Lurkers surrounding it began to shift, their glassy eyes turning toward him. Their screeches grew louder, reverberating off the stone walls as if calling out a warning—an intruder had appeared. Their scales shimmered with a slick, oily sheen, muscles tense and ready to pounce.

The first Lurker lunged, its massive body sliding across the stone floor with surprising speed. Seojun's eyes flickered. In a single fluid motion, he sidestepped, the dagger slicing cleanly through its side. A spray of dark liquid hit the floor, sizzling as it made contact. The lurker let out a shrill cry before collapsing.

Another one came from his left, jaws snapping wildly. Seojun ducked low, spinning on his heel and slashing upward with perfect precision. The blade cut through its underbelly, and the creature crumpled before it could even register the strike.

He moved like a shadow—silent, lethal, and quick. Each step calculated, each strike executed with deadly accuracy. His movements were smooth, not wasting an ounce of energy. One by one, the Lurkers fell, their screeches silenced in mere seconds.

As the last one lunged desperately, Seojun shifted his weight, leaping up and landing gracefully behind it. His dagger flashed crimson, and the monster slumped over, unmoving.

Seojun flicked the blood off the blade, his gaze scanning the cavern. He remained cautious, mindful of the vibrations his strikes caused. A cave like this could easily collapse if he wasn't careful. He glanced around, noting the jagged stone formations and the distant sound of water trickling from the entrance and exit points.

As Seojun walked deeper into the cave, the silence was interrupted by the System's voice.

[Host, I want to say something,]

Seojun raised an eyebrow. "What?"

[I won't get over it if I don't tell you. Honestly, Host...] the System paused,

Seojun frowned. "Just say it."

The System sighed dramatically and an annoyed emoji popped in [Your acting in the river... it sucked, Host!]

Seojun stopped walking. "What?!"

[You call that acting? Falling into the water and flailing around like that? My data suggests even a toddler could do better. And the fake 'I'm hurt' look? Please, I almost wanted to facepalm if I had hands.]

Seojun's eyes narrowed. "I wasn't exactly aiming for an Oscar performance," he replied dryly.

[Well, it showed. If you're going to pretend to get dragged away, at least make it convincing. I felt secondhand embarrassment. Do you want me to pull up the replay?]

Seojun rolled his eyes. "No, thanks."

[You're welcome! But really, Host... work on it. That was just... painful to watch.]

Seojun smirked a little. "Since when did you become a critic?"

[Since you decided to play the damsel in distress in front of half the guild,] the System replied, adding a laughing emoji that bounced across his view.

Seojun shook his head and kept moving. "I'll make sure to practice my 'damsel act' next time," he replied sarcastically.

[Please do. I can give you pointers if you want!] the System chimed, almost too eagerly.

"Oh shut up," Seojun said flatly, picking up his pace.

Seojun moved quietly through the dark cave, his eyes narrowing as he spotted the main nest below. He hid behind a large rock, peeking out to observe the scene.

Below him, the nest was sprawling—clusters of large, slimy eggs spread across the ground, pulsing faintly with life. In the center rested a massive Lurker, easily three times the size of the ones he had fought earlier. Its skin was thicker, its claws sharper, and its eyes were a glowing red.

Around it, dozens of guards patrolled. These ones were slightly bigger and bulkier than the regular River Lurkers he had fought before.

Seojun's eyes scanned the area, counting each one silently. "Is it done?"

[Yes, Host. I have controlled and adjusted your level,]

"Good," Seojun murmured. Without wasting another second, he leaped down from the rock, landing silently on the cavern floor. His movements were smooth, almost like water flowing between stones.

He stuck to the shadows, his footsteps soft and measured. The first Lurker child came into view, oblivious to his presence. Seojun's hand flashed, and the crimson dagger was in his grip. In one clean motion, he slid the blade across its neck, pulling it back into the shadows before it could even screech.

He continued like a shadow, weaving through the nest.

[Host, I don't get you,] almost sounding annoyed. [With just one spell, you can end them all. Easy, fast, and done within seconds.]

Seojun wiped the dagger on his sleeve, slipping it back into its sheath. "Where's the fun in that?" he whispered back, a slight grin on his face.

[Fun? I thought efficiency was your thing.]

Seojun sliced through another Lurker child before it could even flinch. He dragged it back into the shadows, his eyes never leaving the path ahead. "Sometimes," he replied, "it's nice to do things the old way."
