Infinite System Inheritor Return From The Abyss-Chapter 487 - 485: Divine weapon Candidates
"I… have a suggestion."
Everyone froze. All the gods and goddesses turned sharply toward the voice. It came from Zyraena, who was still kneeling on the floor, wrapped in golden chains. The bind that covered her mouth had dissapeared.
"She dares to speak during judgment?"
A few gods stepped forward, anger on their faces.
"Silence yourself. You have already caused enough trouble," another said sharply.
The chains on Zyraena glowed as if tightening again, reacting to the gods' anger. She winced but kept her head raised, her eyes locked on Zeus.
Zeus lifted his hand.
The whole hall fell quiet.
Even the chains stopped tightening.
Zeus leaned forward slightly from his throne, "Let her speak."
The other gods frowned, confused and irritated.
"Zeus, you cannot be serious–"
"Why listen to her?"
"She is the cause of this entire mess!"
Zeus raised his hand again, and the complaints stopped immediately. He kept his eyes on Zyraena.
"You said you have a suggestion. I am curious. What do you want to say, Zyraena?"
Zyraena took a slow breath, fighting the pain of the chains, She looked at Seojun… then back at Zeus.
Zyraena lifted her head. Her voice was soft but steady.
"There is something everyone seems to forget. The divine weapon trial is happening right now. Its result will decide many things for the future."
Some gods stopped talking. Others frowned at her boldness.
Zyraena kept going.
"The divine weapon chooses its owner. This moment is important. If we interfere before the trial ends, we might break the balance you all care about."
Inside, she was trying not to panic. 'I don't even have a real idea. I'm just trying to buy time. I don't know how to fix this. I just can't let them punish Seojun now.'
She forced herself to breathe and continued.
"The trial must finish. You all know what happens if it doesn't."
The room fell quiet. A few gods looked annoyed because they knew she was telling the truth.
Zyraena looked down. 'I don't even know what to say next. Please just believe this for now.'
Zeus leaned back in his throne, watching her closely.
"Go on," he said.
Zyraena froze for a second Her mind went blank. 'Great. He wants more. I didn't plan this far.'
Before anyone could speak, Zarion, the god of monsters, raised his hand. A large screen appeared in the sky above them. The glowing image showed the chosen mortals in a white room, circling the divine weapon placed in the center.
The gods and goddesses turned their attention to it.
Zeus narrowed his eyes at the screen. "Focus on the trial. We will keep watch on Han Seojun at the same time."
The others nodded, some with hesitation.
Zyraena felt her bindings loosen. Zeus finally allowed her to move. She wasted no time and quickly approached Seojun.
The moment she reached him, she grabbed his hand tightly. Her face looked desperate as her voice echoed inside Seojun's mind.
"I'm begging you Seojun. Do whatever I say. Do not speak for now."
Seojun frowned. He was clearly confused and about to ask something, but Zyraena's voice came again, more frantic.
"Please… master. Please listen to me."
Hearing her call him master and beg like that, Seojun let out a slow sigh. He lowered his eyes, accepting her request.
Zyraena squeezed his hand harder, relieved, though her heart was still heavy with fear.
The confident man reached out.
The divine weapon slowly shifted. Everyone leaned forward. Then the glowing blade suddenly shrank. In a blink, it turned into a simple stick. A shockwave burst out and sent the man flying across the room.
The goddess of fate stood up in anger.
"Useless mortal. How did I even choose you?"
The other gods tried not to laugh. The goddess only glared harder.
Another top ranker stepped forward. He walked with caution but still carried pride in every step. He reached out.
The weapon stayed as a stick. Another shockwave exploded. He flew back and rolled on the floor.
One candidate after another tried, but the divine weapon refused them leaving top rankers remaining and some.
People around the room started murmuring loudly.
"Why is it always the top rankers?"
"This is unfair. What kind of weapon is this?"
"Is it broken?"
The atmosphere became more chaotic with every attempt. Ssivar and Belgrom crossed their arms while watching. Grimzark only stared with a blank face.
Seoha smirked.
"Step aside. Maybe it is waiting for me."
Her confident voice echoed. She walked forward with the calmness of someone sure of victory. Her mana slowly leaked out and washed over the room in waves. The moment her aura touched the divine weapon, the stick trembled.
Then it changed. Flames erupted. The weapon grew into a giant sword surrounded by blazing fire. Heat surged through the air.
Seoha smirked even harder.
"As expected."
She wrapped both hands around the handle. Her fingers closed and pulled But her hands passed through the sword like it was made of smoke.
"What?" she whispered.
Her confident face slowly turned stiff. The gods above murmured among themselves.
"Wait. Is that the divine weapon choosing its candidate?" one god said.
"Yes. This is rare," another god muttered. "It appears in history, but this is the first time we witness it choosing a candidate before the bearer."
"So it is choosing early?" another whispered.
"That only means if the true bearer is not present, the weapon will stay with a temporary candidate until the end."
Seoha tsked and leaned against the white wall, a smirk on her face. "Try it, Dae-won. I dare you," she said, her voice teasing as her friends watched.
Dae-won stared at the giant flaming sword. He did not move. His expression was calm, almost serious. "Not for me," he said, his voice quiet but firm.
Seoha rolled her eyes. "I can feel it rejecting me," Gideon muttered, watching the flames flicker across the blade.
Alexa stepped closer, observing the weapon. "Well," she said, her tone careful, "taking the form of Seoha's sword means she has been selected as one of the bearer candidates. If the true bearer is not here or does not exist yet, that only means one of us can hold it temporarily until he or she appears."
Lee Min-joon's eyes shifted to Seoyang standing quietly beside Alexa. "Why don't you try it, Lauren?" he asked.
Alexa glanced at her aunt with a gentle smile. "Yeah, Auntie, you should try it," she encouraged.
Seoyang took a deep breath and stepped closer to the burning sword.
