Chapter 473: Chapter 473 - Block The Runner Game

By day break, I was already all dressed up and prepared for my long day of work ahead. Just when I was about to exit my wagon, my senses have already warned me that somebody was standing outside and waiting for me to appear.

Damn. Why does he have to keep his promise and be here this early to talk?

I exited my wagon with my back first, slowly walking backwards to avoid meeting the guy’s eyes and make him believe that I did not notice his presence. He stood still, not making a sound while just watching my every move. When I finally closed the wagon door, that was the time he made his move towards where I am. Of course, I also started my own move and the first thing I did was to teleport away and my destination was the military hospital.

I could only imagine his surprise and most likely anger at my sudden disappearance from where I was standing earlier. As for me, upon reaching the area near the entrance of the military hospital, I simply walked inside and went straight to the alchemy workshop and pharmacy so that the fresh medicinal herbs can be processed into potions and pills as soon as possible to get optimal benefits out of them.

I could have just left everything in the hospital but since it is the fruit of my hardwork, I want to make sure that the inventory is done transparently. To make the work faster, I also helped out in processing the herbs. I stayed inside the alchemy workshop the whole day to help out in making medicine.

The two alchemists and their apprentices showed a visible sign of relief on their faces when I arrived since there is one more helping hand. My initial plan was only stay for about 3-4 hours but I ended up cooping inside the alchemy lab for 8 hours. I am a workaholic in both lifetimes I guess so I can’t just stop as long as I can see that there is some work that still needs to be done. It took a lot of time because besides the haul I gave them. the haul from the teams assigned out of the 60-man team have also been surrendered last night.

My meals were brought to the alchemy lab together with the food for the other workers since we all declined to leave our posts and the things we were working on. As for my stalker, I heard that he dropped by the military hospital several times throughout the day, checking on the injured and offering any help that his team can provide since they are not that busy nowadays. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

I am sure he wasn’t busy. Surely not in the slightest since he has been following me around for more than a week now. At first I thought it was fun but honestly, it is taking more and more of my energy just to avoid him and it is starting to annoy me.

So, one fine evening during the middle of my second week at the military camp, as I am making my way back to my wagon from a day of work, I grabbed Caius collar, pulled him in a secluded area and slammed him on to the perimeter wall of the camp. He gasped and coughed violently, his face was stunned as he never thought that any person would dared to attack him from the dark. A flash of anger showed on his face but when he saw it was me, it dissipated as if it was nothing but an illusion.

After he has stopped coughing from having the air being snuffed out of him by being slammed to the wall, he carefully asked, "Umm... Ms. Envoy... Can you... Umm.. Could you please release my collar? It is getting harder to breathe."

I looked at him with cold eyes and an indifferent expression as I replied, "I don’t feel like it. It has always been my motto in life to get rid of nuisance to keep myself sane. And, unlucky for you, I have started to feel like you are too annoying to keep around."

Caius’ face was surprised then his face gradually paled from the words that he just heard. He looked down and did not utter a word for a few seconds. When he lifted his gaze, his eyes looked like they were about to cry but he smiled instead as he replied, "I am sorry for sticking around. I have been looking for you since I saw you in the entertainment district in Hoffen. I honestly wanted to be your partner but I understand that you don’t want me. I thought that maybe if I just stick around more, you will like me even a bit but I guess I was wrong. Who would even want an old, rough and scarred war soldier as their partner anyways? I... I’ll leave. I’m sorry again."

Damn this guy and his emotional blackmail. I swear these men are getting more and more creative in their ways to grate on my nerves. Then, at the end of the day, I end up taking them in so they won!

I looked at him still with no feelings showing on my face. I slowly released his collar and the guy leaned on the wall weakly as if he was grieving. He was acting as if the world is about to end! I already knew how fast his act will change if I gave him what he wanted though. Should we try an experiment then?

I spoke softly, enough for just the two of us to hear, "I don’t hate you. I also don’t mind being around men who are old, rough and scarred from war. I will no longer deny meeting you in Hoffen City. I thought it was just a one time thing, that you just found it fun and then that’s just that. Why are you looking for me anyways?"

He looked up and with the most innocent eyes I ever saw, he looked at me straight in the eye. He spoke with his modulated and husky voice as he softly said, "To marry you, of course."

Wow. That was as blunt as anyone could go.
