Chapter 373: Would you like to meet an Outer Devil?

"Are you curious, young Merrick?"

Theo heard a very familiar voice, which made him drop to his knees in a matter of seconds.

The emperor moved forward and chuckled while looking at Theo.

"Young Theo has such respect toward me. When will you be like this, Aldric?" The emperor spoke again with a sly smile, making a vein pop on the Baron’s head.

Both the Baron and the Baroness stood in one place and did not kneel.

The emperor looked toward the Baroness and smiled.

"It’s been a while, Seraphina." The emperor spoke, "How have you been?"

"Pretty busy because of your lapdog, your highness." The Baroness spoke in a tone that made Theo feel like his sweat was moving upward instead of down, in a miracle.

But in return, the emperor started laughing like crazy, making Theo and the attendants feel like they were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

"I missed this," He spoke while wiping away tears of laughter. "Truly."

"Let’s get back to the star of this party," he spoke again and clapped. "You can get up now, young Merrick." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"So can your attendants. Both level 10, huh... your family truly knows how to gain powerful allies." He spoke in a mysterious tone, and everything went silent.

Theo’s eyes moved toward the computer-looking thing again before he stopped. He did not want anyone to notice his gaze.

"And you being a foundation human... is quite tricky, young Theo..." The emperor spoke again, making another vein pop in the Baron’s head.

"I thought I already told you not to worry about that, Solarael," The Baron spoke in a serious tone. Theo felt like he was dreaming, listening to his father speak the emperor’s first name so casually.

The emperor only smiled, and Theo realized the fact that his status showed ’Foundation Human’ now.

’How could I forget that? I went to a whole noble gathering without using the tool father talked about....’ Theo felt like he had messed up bad.

But seeing how the emperor stopped pursuing it, Theo decided not to think about it currently.

"We should start with the evaluation now. If I don’t end it quick, you might snap in exhaustion, Aldric."

The more the emperor spoke, the more he felt human to him. It almost felt like he was desperately happy seeing the Baron and Baroness in the royal castle.

"Let’s go, Theo," The Baron spoke in a serious tone and started walking forward.

The emperor joined him, and it felt like the Baron knew more than the emperor himself.

’What the hell...’

The more they moved forward, the closer the computer-like machine came.

’Even if this is not a computer... that screen should not exist in this world... not when I have seen how far their technology has come. They are not close to something like this,’ Theo thought.

When they were right in front of the computer and a luxurious wooden chair that did not match the technology even a bit.

"Activate this thing," The emperor spoke, making one of the people who wore a red robe come forward and do something behind the screen.

Theo looked at it with sweat on his face. He did not want anyone to know about it, but since they were so close to it right now, he couldn’t help but sweat.

"Are you that curious about it, Young Theo?" The emperor spoke. "Well, that is a given, since you won’t see something like this in any library you can go to."

"And since I am more like an uncle to you, I will tell you the truth too," He spoke again, and Theo froze but nodded in respect.

"You’re not being evaluated right now, Young Theo," The emperor spoke, making Theo show a shocked expression, which he did.

"Then why have my family been summoned here, your majesty?" Theo dared ask with an innocent face.

He wanted to use his leverage at the moment, as the emperor had just told Theo he was like an uncle to him.

The emperor was silently looking at Theo for a moment before he came closer.

Theo saw the ripple in the air behind him again, yet he didn’t show anything on his face.

The emperor kept a hand on Theo’s shoulder, making Theo feel like making his spine a lot more upright.

"That’s because I see potential in you. And since you are so young, your father and I couldn’t help but expect more from you."

"So right now, we will use this ’machine’ that was salvaged from an Outer Devil ship, Young Theo."

Theo felt chills when he heard that, but his eyes widened. Not in shock, but there was something inside him that wanted more.

"Outer Devils? Our mortal enemy?" Theo asked in curiosity.

The emperor only smiled. "Let’s just say the Outer Devil’s language detection tool came in handy. We were able to get a lot from a prisoner." The emperor spoke, with his smile widening.

Theo did not know why he thought that, but it felt like the emperor was a little too cunning for his liking. Yet he was revealing so much to him, but why?

"Would you like to meet that ’said’ Outer Devil, Young Theo?"

"RAEL!" The Baron spoke in a menacing tone, making the emperor side-eye him with a smile.

"Guess we can leave that for later." He spoke and moved casually to the machine again.

"This here will show us your whole status screen, Young Theo."

The emperor spoke, and Theo looked at the Baron with utter shock.

’Check my status? Isn’t that worse than evaluating my strength?’ Theo thought.

"It’s a necessity for the next steps, Theo." The Baron spoke. "But don’t worry, we are with you." He spoke, making Theo look at the Baroness, who nodded at him.

Theo did not know what to say at the moment. The Baron and the Baroness already told him that it was okay, that it was a necessity.

But it still felt like too much. Yet soon, reality came forward.

’They have trusted me all this time. Guess it’s time I do the same...’
