Internet Breaking: The Powerful CEO Reveals His Supermodel Wife-Chapter 569: Drunk
"Uh..."
Ava was stunned.
She hadn’t expected that response.
However, Poe Vaughn’s words did remind Ava of who he was, and she found herself directly asking him such questions and discussing rumors with him, wondering if she might offend him.
Would he get angry?
See, see, she always forgot her own identity, always forgot Poe Vaughn’s identity, always being so reckless, and only realized in crucial moments.
But strangely, at this moment, even realizing this fact, perhaps because she’d been drinking, Ava still wasn’t overly cautious, feeling things were just going as they should.
Only in that very instant did she feel a slight tension, but once that moment passed, the tension disappeared.
Ava paused, then looked at Poe, her eyelashes fluttering, and said directly: "Of course, I was just placating you!"
"Sometimes you’re pretty easy to placate. As long as we talk it out properly, you won’t be too upset. You’re quite reasonable, worthy of being the noble son of a prestigious family, with excellent upbringing."
What she said was completely unreserved, direct, and open.
Poe looked at this woman who had no hesitation in giving reasons not to upset him one moment and then immediately praised him the next. His thumb stopped swirling his wine glass and instead started rubbing the surface.
He said, "Just like that?"
His voice softened, lacking the usual coldness and instead filled with silent coaxing, indulgence.
Ava was taken aback, then opened her lips and said: "Yeah! Just like that!"
"What else can there be?"
"If... if I can’t even placate you, it clearly means I’ve touched your sore spot, and once I’ve done that, nothing I say or do will matter anymore. So why bother? What else is there to say? Naturally, you can do as you wish."
"In our relationship, you hold the reins. If you’re unhappy, there’s nothing I can do."
"Furthermore, I’m not one to be shameless or without self-respect. If the other party is unwilling, I certainly won’t cling or devise any underhanded schemes."
"That stuff is too mentally taxing, not suitable for a simple-minded person like me."
"I prefer simple and straightforward solutions. If it can be solved directly, then solve it directly. If not, let it be. It’s not as if anyone can’t live without another in this world."
Ava said a lot in one go, genuinely unconcerned, not caring.
She was direct, carefree, and candid.
Just like she said, she’s someone with self-respect, and she wouldn’t throw everything away just to placate someone else.
Ava Sterling isn’t that kind of person.
After finishing, Ava picked up her wine glass and drank, then continued eating.
She didn’t feel there was anything wrong with what she said and once again forgot Poe Vaughn’s identity.
They were like friends, partners, people they could trust and share their thoughts with, with no need for secrecy. She said what she wanted without reservation.
Poe watched all of this, everything so natural and normal, looking at her cheeks reddening from all the wine she drank, he lightly gripped the glass and took a sip.
The two of them stayed in the private room for quite some time, and that bottle of wine was almost finished by Ava.
She was a bit drunk.
Poe supported her, letting her lean against him as they exited the restaurant.
Ava instinctively hugged Poe’s waist, burying her face in his chest, her eyes half-closed, following his steps.
Ava had good alcohol tolerance, but after downing an entire bottle of wine, with most of it in her stomach, it was expected for her to be drunk.
But as they walked out of the restaurant, the cool breeze outside blew past, sobering Ava up a little.
She groggily opened her eyes, looked around, then remembered something, reaching for Poe’s hand to check the watch on his wrist.
She wanted to know the time.
But being drunk, everything looked blurry to her, especially that tiny watch face.
Ava couldn’t see the time clearly and directly lifted Poe’s hand to her face, squinting to see the exact time.
But because she was drunk, the watch face seemed doubled, the hands skewed and multiplied, making it impossible for her to discern the exact time.
Ava didn’t give up, rubbed her eyes, then swayed unsteadily on her feet.
Poe watched her antics, directly pulling her into him, looked at the watch and said: "Nine forty."
His clear voice reached her ears, making Ava blink in surprise and then widen her eyes, lips parting in disbelief: "Nine forty? It’s that late?"
"The mall must be closed by now."
"That’s not good, I haven’t bought anything yet. We..."
Ava looked around, searching for shops that sold food, then said, "Let’s go somewhere else to buy food, snacks, fruits, instant noodles or something, I want to stock up at the hotel in case I get hungry."
Saying that, Ava pulled Poe’s hand, ready to head forward immediately.
Poe watched as she walked unsteadily, still not entirely clear-headed yet remembering to do this. He reversed his hold on her hand, directly pulling her into him, saying: "I’ll have someone buy it."
Ava bumped into Poe’s chest, already dizzy, felt even more so.
But hearing his deep voice, Ava paused, then seemed to suddenly remember, enlightened: "Oh right, you can have someone buy it, why didn’t I think of that?"
She was in a daze, her brain clearly slowed down from the alcohol.
Poe watched her silly and dazed expression, and since who knew where she’d end up walking herself, he directly lifted her up, swiftly heading towards the waiting car outside.
Ava felt herself suddenly lifted, her perspective flipped, and she was dizzy beyond measure.
But when she came to and recognized who was holding her, she frowned and said: "Having someone else buy is convenient, but I want to go with you."
