Chapter 193: So hungry

Jasper didn’t take the beast core Xarion offered. Looking after Rory had always been his responsibility.

Besides, Jasper could already tell—Xarion and Rory had become mates the night before.

There was a noticeable change in Xarion. The man seemed entirely different now.

"Stay with Rory," Jasper said calmly. "I’ll go make something for her to eat. When she wakes up, let me know, and I’ll bring the food upstairs."

"Thank you."

Xarion watched Jasper head downstairs, then quickly returned to the room.

Inside the bedroom, Rory was sleeping—but not peacefully.

She was dreaming.

In the dream, a glowing orb chased her relentlessly, no matter how fast she ran.

Exhausted, Rory finally opened her eyes. The room around her was dark.

How long had she been asleep this time? 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

The moment Xarion sensed movement beside him, he immediately reached over and took her hand.

"Female Master, you’re awake."

He gently covered her eyes with one hand while using his ability to turn on the lights.

Only after her eyes adjusted to the brightness did he slowly remove his hand.

"Xarion... how long did I sleep?" Rory asked.

She had been running endlessly in her dream, and now her whole body felt drained.

Xarion’s voice was so soft it almost seemed to melt in the air.

"Female Master, you only slept for one day this time."

His Female Master was becoming stronger and stronger.

Only one day? No wonder her body still felt so exhausted.

Rory draped an arm over Xarion’s lean waist and rubbed lazily against the firm muscles of his chest.

"Help me get a nutrient solution," she murmured. "I’m a little hungry. I’ll drink it and go back to sleep."

Hearing that she wanted a nutrient solution, Xarion lowered his voice.

"Female Master, would you like to eat instead? Jasper has already prepared food. I can ask him to bring it up."

Food?

Rory touched her stomach, thinking for a moment before asking,

"Is there any sea beast meat? I want sea beast."

Xarion nodded immediately. "Yes, you can have some."

Jasper had sent him a message earlier saying he had cooked sea beast meat for the Female Master.

Xarion quickly retrieved a set of clothes and helped Rory put them on. Then he sent Jasper a message asking him to bring the meal upstairs.

Rory still felt incredibly tired and lay back on the bed without the slightest desire to move.

Before Jasper arrived, she took out two leaves from Yuel and swallowed them.

Yuel’s leaves worked quite well.

After taking them, the heaviness in her body eased slightly.

But strangely enough, her hunger seemed to grow even stronger.

When Jasper finally brought the food upstairs, Rory got up to wash up before sitting down to eat.

Jasper had prepared braised sea beast. This particular species had only a single row of large bones, making it very easy to eat.

When she saw Jasper, Rory suddenly remembered something.

"Jasper, is your older brother alright now?"

Jasper nodded. "He was injured, but it’s nothing serious. He’s in the hospital now and should be discharged tomorrow."

Only one day in the hospital—that meant the injury truly wasn’t severe.

Rory felt relieved.

She picked up her chopsticks and began eating in earnest.

The sea beast alone weighed more than two pounds, yet she finished it quickly. She also polished off most of the remaining dishes and rice.

It was the first time she had eaten so much without feeling overly full.

Once the meal was over, sleepiness washed over her almost immediately.

Rory waved lazily at Jasper and Xarion.

"You two should go rest. I’m going back to sleep."

"I’ll stay with the Female Master," Xarion said at once.

Jasper knew that the two of them had just become mates, and Xarion naturally wanted to stay by her side. He didn’t argue.

"Alright. I’ll head back to my room. Call me if you need anything."

With that, Jasper left.

By then, Rory had already fallen asleep on the bed. This time, she slept until noon on the third day before waking.

The fatigue that had weighed on her body was completely gone.

However, her scalp suddenly felt a little itchy.

Xarion wasn’t in the room at the moment, so Rory got up and took a shower.

Afterward, the itching eased slightly—though it hadn’t disappeared entirely.

She didn’t pay much attention to it. After getting dressed, she headed downstairs.

In the living room, she found a silver-white wolf pressing Cotton Candy—still wearing his princess dress—firmly to the floor with one paw.

The once fluffy pink rabbit now looked pitifully miserable. His fur was dirty and one eye was swollen.

When he saw Rory coming downstairs, Cotton Candy immediately squeaked desperately.

"Chirp... chirp..."

Female Master, save me!

"Chirp!"

That pervert Xarion has been beating me up these past two days!

Aren had no idea what he had done to offend Xarion.

Ever since Rory fell asleep, Xarion had been finding excuses to beat him up whenever he had the chance.

His old injuries hadn’t even healed before new ones appeared.

Seeing that Rory had woken up, Xarion immediately shifted back into human form and walked quickly to her side.

"Female Master, this rabbit keeps trying to approach you while you’re sleeping. I wasn’t beating him—I was just teaching him some manners. As for his injuries, they’re mostly from the backlash when he tried to attack me."

"Chirp...!"

Female Master, he’s slandering me!

Aren felt utterly wronged.

Ever since discovering Xarion’s bizarre ability, he had no intention of fighting him again.

Yet for the past two days, Xarion had practically hunted him down just to beat him up.

At an angle where Aren couldn’t see, Xarion subtly shook his head at Rory.

During these two days, he had carefully observed the rabbit.

Aside from its persistent habit of trying to get close to Rory, he hadn’t noticed anything suspicious.

If there was something unusual, in truth, the real anomaly was Rory herself.

After he had become mates with her, his spiritual power had returned to normal overnight—and his abilities had surged significantly as well.

Such a thing had never been recorded anywhere in the interstellar empire.

Xarion knew this was a secret that absolutely couldn’t be revealed, so he hadn’t told anyone.

Seeing that Xarion still hadn’t uncovered anything unusual about Cotton Candy, Rory began to doubt her own suspicions.

Had she simply imagined it?

Was Cotton Candy really just an ordinary rabbit?

She walked over with a smile and lifted the rabbit from the floor. Taking out one of Yuel’s leaves, she fed it to him.

Until the truth was confirmed, she couldn’t allow Xarion to actually beat Cotton Candy to death.

After all, she was the one who had decided to keep the rabbit in the first place.

Until she determined its true identity, she still had some responsibility for it.

Aren had no idea Rory was already suspicious of him. After eating the leaf she gave him, many of his injuries began to heal.

He gazed at Rory gratefully. The Female Master really treated him the best.

Once she saw that his wounds had mostly healed, Rory stopped paying attention to him.

Not seeing Jasper anywhere in the house, she asked Xarion,

"Where’s Jasper?"

"He went to visit his older brother," Xarion replied.

Then he headed to the kitchen to pour Rory a glass of water.

Rory sat down on the sofa and opened her light-brain.

She sent messages to Nix, Yuel, and Vincent.

Rory: Nix, how busy are things on your end?

Rory: Yuel, how are things going over there?

After sending that message, she added another.

Rory: Yuel, I think Cotton Candy might be suspicious. He doesn’t seem like an ordinary rabbit. Xarion has beaten him several times but still hasn’t forced him to reveal anything. Do you have any ideas?

In matters like this, Yuel was the most knowledgeable.

After messaging him, Rory sent another message to Vincent.

Rory: Vincent, how is the battle going?

Nix replied almost instantly.

Nix: Rory, I’ll be done here in a few days. I’ll come back to accompany you soon.

Nix: When I return, I’ll bring you some awesome mechs—and a starship.

Reading his message, Rory smiled.

Rory: I’ll be waiting for you.

Neither Vincent nor Yuel replied—likely because they were busy.

After sending her messages, Rory began browsing through items on her light-brain, shopping for decorations to redo the rooms for Nix and Xarion.

By the afternoon, the items she ordered had already arrived.

She grabbed Xarion and dragged him along to start redecorating the rooms.
