Interstellar Beastworld: Raising A Cub With My Mummy System!-Chapter 41: SO MY SON NOW HAS A SON
Mira bowed and left. Uriel stood and walked out of the study, his steps quick, his jaw tight. He found Lin Yue in the corridor outside the nursery, Auriel in her arms, her face pale but composed.
"They are here " she said.
"They are." He took her free hand and squeezed it. "Do not worry. I will be right beside you the whole time."
She nodded, but he could see the tension in her shoulders. "What do they want?"
"They want to see for themselves." He released her hand and placed his palm gently on Auriel’s head. "I did not formally tell them about you. Or about him. But they know. They have always known. They came to see what kind of woman their son has chosen and what kind of child he has fathered."
Lin Yue swallowed. "And what do I tell them when they ask about me?"
Uriel looked at her, his gold eyes steady. "Tell them the truth. As much as you can. My parents are intellectuals. They read people. They will ask many questions, and they will know if you are lying. Tell them what you know. I will be there to fill in what you cannot."
She took a deep breath. "And if they do not approve?"
He almost smiled. "Then they will have to deal with me. I know I’ll never suffer a loss."
He placed his hand on her lower back and guided her toward the front of the house. "Come. Let us meet them together."
They walked through the corridors, Auriel still sleeping in Lin Yue’s arms. The staff parted for them, bowing, watching.
Everyone knew what was happening.
Everyone wanted to see how this would
unfold.
At the front entrance, the doors were already open. The convoy had arrived, vehicles lined up in the drive, attendants unloading boxes and crates.
And there, at the center of it all, stood the King and Queen of Primus.
King Alistair was tall, broad-shouldered, his dark hair grey at the temples, his face sharp and commanding. Queen Lyanna stood beside him, elegant and composed, her eyes already fixed on Lin Yue and the child.
Her white hair was placed in a bun, Lin Yue could see where Uriel and now Auriel got it from.
Uriel stepped forward first, his voice formal. "Father. Mother. You should have sent word."
Alistair’s gaze moved from his son to the woman beside him, to the baby in her arms. "We wanted to meet our grandson. And the woman who carries his name."
Lin Yue felt her heart pounding, but she held her ground. Auriel stirred, let out a small sound, and settled again.
Uriel placed his hand on her back once more. "Then let me introduce you."
He gestured toward her. "This is Lin Yue. The mother of my son."
Lin Yue inclined her head. "Your Majesties."
Lyanna’s eyes studied her, missing nothing. "You are younger than I expected."
"And you are more beautiful than the portraits," Lin Yue said, the words coming out before she could stop them.
Lyanna blinked. Then she smiled. "Well said."
Alistair stepped forward, his attention fixed on the baby. "May I see him?"
Lin Yue looked at Uriel, who nodded. She carefully shifted Auriel and held him out.
The King of Primus looked down at his grandson for the first time. The baby’s tiny face scrunched, then relaxed. A dusting of white fur on his head. Ears that were already beginning to take shape. Gold eyes, barely open, looking up at nothing and everything.
Alistair stared at the small face for a long moment. Then his expression softened in a way Lin Yue had not expected from a king.
"It is like looking at Uriel all over again," he said quietly. "A miniature version. I remember holding him just like this." He looked at his son, then back at the baby. "So my son now has a son."
Lyanna moved closer, looking down at Auriel with a warmth that Lin Yue had not anticipated. "May I?"
Lin Yue nodded and carefully transferred the baby into Lyanna’s arms. The Queen held him with the ease of someone who had done this before, cradling his head, supporting his small body.
"He is so small," Lyanna murmured. "Uriel was this small once. It feels like yesterday."
Uriel stepped up beside Lin Yue, his hand still resting on her back. "There is much to discuss. But perhaps we should go inside first."
Alistair looked at his son, then at Lin Yue, then back at the baby in his wife’s arms. "Yes. There is much to discuss."
He turned toward the house, and the doors opened wider to receive them.
They moved into the main sitting room, a space Lin Yue had not spent much time in. It was formal but warm, with high windows that let in the afternoon light, comfortable chairs arranged around a low table, and a fireplace that had been lit despite the mild weather. Mira appeared with tea and arranged cups on the table before disappearing as quietly as she had come.
Lyanna sat in one of the chairs with Auriel still cradled in her arms, her posture perfect, her attention moving between the baby and Lin Yue with quiet assessment. Alistair settled beside her, his eyes fixed on his grandson for a long moment before he turned his gaze to the woman across from him. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Uriel guided Lin Yue to sit across from them and took the chair beside her, close enough that his knee almost touched hers.
"You must have questions," he said.
"We do," Alistair said. "But they are not the kind you might expect." He looked at Lin Yue. "We have read the reports. We know the sequence of events. What we do not know is you. What kind of person are you, Lin Yue?"
Lin Yue met his gaze. She had prepared herself for accusations, for demands, for hostility. She had not prepared for genuine curiosity.
"I worked in customer service," she said. "For a telecommunications company. People called in when their internet stopped working, when their bills were wrong, when they had been on hold for an hour and wanted to scream at someone. It was not just answering angry calls. I had to figure out what was actually wrong, navigate five different systems to fix it, and explain it in a way that made sense to someone who was already frustrated. I had to keep track of dozens of cases at once, document everything, and make sure nothing slipped through the cracks."
Alistair’s eyebrow rose slightly. "That is a more demanding job than I imagined."
