Chapter 115 - Philip!

As Illia arrived, I ran toward my beatiful horse. "Philip! You are here!"

I hugged Philip as the horse and her carriage stopped. Illia spoke up as I petted Philip. "I guess I don't matter."

I waved at her, "You were coming back anyway, you wanted to stay at the college."

She jumped off the carriage and nodded, "Yeah, is that gonna be alright? Didn't you want me to do something in Solitude?"

I shrugged, "Truth be told about half the job I wanted you to do could be done by a child if I teach them magic. The real problem is hiring a dependable magic user that is good in combat for the other half of the job. It's fine if you stay business expansion is always good."

Illia paused and looked around, "No Viree?"

Viree yelled from inside a small shack. "What do you want!"

Illia made a face of understanding and I just shrugged. Viree came back an hour ago and she actually did find Chrysamere. She hadn't gone to the sightless pit though, which meant I had to drop by there.

"Yeah, we were just waiting on you. Stormcloak reinforcements will be here soon." Gwenn received a letter about their arrival, so i wanted to get out of here.

Illia nodded, "I saw them, They were preforming a march. I think they will be here in a hour or so?"

A march? "They are marching here in order?"

She blinked, "Huh? No, they are going through the snow. It was just really deep snow."

I stared and put whatever that nonsense was in the back of my mind. Viree walked up, "Is everything ready?"

I shook my head, "Place that Anvil in the back."

She looked down at the Anvil, "What is in this?"

I looked at the Anvil and looked back up at Viree. "An Anvil?"

She sighed at my humor, "It's magic?"

I nodded, "You saw it previously, why are you asking questions now?"

Illia shook her head, "I think I'll be a little glad to not deal with Vek's eccentricities."

I frowned, "I'm completely normal, now Viree let's go I wanna see if we can collect some Falmer corpses so I can experiment on them."

The two women stared at me, Viree eventually shook her head, "Let's just go."

I jumped onto the cart and Viree followed along. "I'll send a letter when we arrive back in Solitude. See you around Illia."

She waved as we left, as we left I began to turn right off the path. A trail was hidden in the snow, but I knew the way. Viree spoke as we moved, "So what is the plan?"

"Well, we will go up the mountian here and toward Saarthal. From there we will head toward the SIghtless pit as I mentioned. We will investigate it and see if we can confirm my suspicions about the Falmer. After that we head toward dawnstar, but we will stop at a place called Yngvild. I checked bounties in Winterhold and apparently women are going missing from the Dawnstar and Winterhold area."

I naturally knew the reason, but telling Viree the reason might make her want to head there instantly. The creep who lived there needed to be killed. Hopefully he was already dead though. Viree pointed behind us, "Looks like we left just before the Stormcloaks arrived."

I peered back and sure enough I could see 30 or so soldiers heading toward Winterhold. I nodded, "We could've handled it, but it is better to not deal with them."

She nodded and pointed ahead, "Which brings me to ask if that is Saarthal."

I nodded again as I spotted the excavated ice. Philip sped up toward the bottom of the mountian and the carriage bounced along. "We will likely get to the pit within 10 minutes."

Viree held out her hand, "Is that the pit?"

I looked at where she was pointing and paused, I made Philip slow as I watched the buried hole. "Interesting, yeah that is where it should be. It seems the entrance was sealed shut." I looked up where the other entrance was. "Sure enough the other entrance is sealed as well. The whole cliff is buried."

Viree frowned, "I'm guessing that confirms something for you?"

I nodded, "Let's head on."

Philip started moving again and we headed toward Yngvild. "We will leave Philip with a nearby imperial camp. From there we will head to a place called Yngvild, I know a necromancer is held up there. If people are going missing it is likely him. The bounty is old, which means the guy likely caused too much of a stir. It should be easy to kill him since I can just cast some Turn undead spells."

Viree nodded as she watched the snow, "God it is boring out here."

I watched her take out Chrysamere, "What are you going to do with this."

I had yet to put it into my inventory to save space. "Smelt it down most likely, it is a holy weapon after all."

She frowned, "I can understand that part, but are you going to turn it into a new weapon for me? You said you were going to reforge Volendrung too."

I nodded, "Chrysamere isn't that important of an artifact, but it has a lot of history so it is a good base item to use. Though not sure what it is going to turn into. For Volendrung though, yeah that will be used for your weapon. I did some study of it and realized it gets reinforced by mana. This increases its durability and strength. Along with several other effects that are hard to notice."

Unfortunately it seemed I had to study a few objects like this. Volendrung only listed one enchantment on it through the actually system. Shows how unreliable it is too, despite the use I realized the system really doesn't help on anything. Even the quests were unhelpful and it failed me greatly.

Viree nodded and leaned back into the carriage's seat. "Are we gonna stay in Solitude for a while?"

I shrugged, "Don't know, I have to revisit the Shrine of Meridia and eventually we may have to contact Canary. So I honestly could not say, why do you ask?"

She shrugged, "Eh, it feels like things might be a little slow for a while."

I nodded, "That is likely, do you want to go on your own solo adventure? That was a requirement for more perk points to unlock in your companionship skill tree."

She dug through her bag and lifted up a brush. "Eh, Maybe."

The carriage began to pull towards the Imperial camp. A solider held up his hand, "Who goes there?"

I took out one of the letters from Tullius. "On my way back to Solitude, I believe your superior would recognize this seal? I need someone to take of my horse for a day while I deal with a personal matter."

He looked up at the letter and nodded, "I will get the Legate."

He ran back toward the camp and a minute later the Legate came over. "Who are you? and what is this about a seal?"

I held out the letter again and he looked at the seal. "That is the general's seal, who are you though?"

I shrugged, "Vek Frostwane, I have some matters to attend to. The type that means I must travel by foot, is alright to leave my horse and carriage with you for the night?"

The Legate nodded, "I didn't expect to meet the Vek Frostwane." He held his hand out and I shook it. He continued speaking, "Yeah, we can take of your horse. I assume these matters are about your guild?"

I nodded, "It seems my reputation is growing. Yes, it is somewhat related. You see I am investigating the missing women from 6 months ago."

The legate nodded once more, "That case grew cold, I believe Dawnstar was struggling to solve it due to the nightmare curse that happened a while back ago as well."

I nodded, "Ah yeah, I solved that case and killed the cult behind it, but I wasn't able to do anything about missing women. I just came into some information in Winterhold about it." I paused, "I likely don't need to say this, but I wasn't in Winterhold."

I gave him a smile and he gave a grin of his own. "Of course, sir, you were never in Winterhold."

I paused, "How is the transport of the item."

The legate nodded, "It will arrive within the day. In fact the team briefly stopped by in our camp. I do wish to ask, how did you manage to use a dragon like that?"

Viree brushed her hair as she watched me lie through my teeth. "It was difficult let me tell ya. A complete surprise on my end really. One of those it just happened and I rolled with it."

I had to be vague since Paarthurnax could be watching right now. Ah, I should've asked for the Far Sight Thu'um. I smiled at the Legate and he nodded, "A secret? I can understand. Just leave your carriage and we will take care of your horse for the night."

I nodded moved Philip to a better position inside the camp. The legate motion, "Private Rodulf! Take care of this horses needs like the rest. The rest of you back to formation."

I jumped off my carriage, bowed toward the Legate as he nodded. He walked off, so I turned back toward Viree who stored away her hair brush. "So where are we going by foot."

My hands glowed with some magic and casted League-Step. "Just follow me."

Viree nodded and took a step forward and the distance she expected to traveled was doubled. "Whoa!"

I nodded, "League-Step an interesting spell isn't it."

She nodded, "Well, let's go."
