Invincibility Begins with Mastery of Fist Techniques-Chapter 138 - 134: Stealing the Sky and Exchanging the Sun
"Is that so?"
Zhou Yuanjue frowned slightly upon hearing this. This world was more complex than he had imagined.
The resurgence of the Celestial Demons seemed to trace back to the world-sweeping war decades ago and the Ya'an Empire, which had played a dominant role. The waters here ran deeper than he thought.
Unfortunately, Donghua Country's research on the Celestial Demons had started too late. Although the Spirit Guardians followed the teachings of their ancestors, there had been a long period of disconnection, resulting in a massive loss of usable information.
"What do we do with these people?"
Zhou Yuanjue asked Lu Zhen.
"I'll contact Kekanai to send someone to handle this. We'll get back on the road after they're done."
Lu Zhen said after a moment of contemplation. Since there were survivors, it wasn't practical to just leave them here.
Zhou Yuanjue nodded. The group returned to the vehicle and waited for about half an hour before personnel from Kekanai finally arrived, utterly shocked that their convoy had been ambushed mid-journey.
What shocked them even more, however, was that Zhou Yuanjue and his small group had managed to annihilate their opponents without a single scratch, despite being ambushed in an extremely disadvantageous situation. Furthermore, not a single enemy had been taken down by a kinetic weapon—all were killed by hand. To them, this was simply unbelievable.
Logically, at this kind of distance and in this open of an area, kinetic weapons should have reigned supreme.
"Captain Lu, we understand the situation here. We'll report it to our superiors as soon as possible. But I'm very curious, what method did you use to kill these assassins?"
Before Lu Zhen and the others drove off, another squad leader from the Secret Inspection Bureau who had come to take over couldn't help but ask Lu Zhen curiously.
Hearing this, Lu Zhen glanced at Zhou Yuanjue, who was sitting in the car with his eyes closed in rest. His expression turned a bit strange. He kept a straight face and said to the squad leader, "Ahem, you might not believe me, but the method was actually very simple. We just rushed them and wiped them all out. That's it."
Without waiting for the squad leader's reaction, Lu Zhen started the military SUV and sped away, leaving the man standing there, utterly bewildered.
He looked at the Gobi rock walls on either side. The nearly two-hundred-meter area in between was completely flat, without a single stone tall enough to reach his knee. He then recalled the positions of the assassins' bodies.
'How is rushing out there any different from being a living target?'
"If you don't want to tell me, just say so. 'Just rushed them and wiped them all out?' Do you take me for a three-year-old?"
The squad leader watched the direction Lu Zhen's vehicle had gone, shaking his head helplessly.
...
...
Silence filled the car. Although they had been panicked during the incident, now that it was over, both Chen Hanhan and Wang Jiawang, being highly intelligent individuals, quickly readjusted. Chen Hanhan in particular, sitting not far from Zhou Yuanjue, began to size him up boldly.
It wasn't until Zhou Yuanjue slightly released his restrained Life Magnetic Field, exuding a terrifying, invisible pressure, that Chen Hanhan retracted her gaze like a frightened rabbit.
The rest of the journey was uneventful. After about two hours, they arrived in Duoka City.
Duoka City was not large, with a population of only thirty thousand. Its level of urbanization was still low, largely preserving the appearance of Donghua Country from twenty to thirty years ago. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
It was now early morning, and Duoka City was under lockdown. The streets were practically deserted, with only armored vehicles on patrol. The lights in all the buildings were out, creating a repressive atmosphere.
Lu Zhen drove the military SUV and soon pulled into a temporary military base on the northwestern outskirts of Duoka City, the one closest to the Kunlun Mountain Range.
As soon as he got out of the car, Zhou Yuanjue gazed into the distance toward the northwest. He could see a vast, majestic mountain range, undulating like a colossal dragon lying dormant on the earth. Its winding ridges resembled the spine of a giant beast. Anyone standing before such a majestic range would inevitably feel a sense of their own insignificance.
The Kunlun Mountain Range.
Zhou Yuanjue narrowed his eyes. At that moment, his keen Spirit, having reached the level of Saint Awakening, seemed to sense something. In the sky deep within the Kunlun Mountain Range, a faint, shimmering glow seemed to float. A feeling of dread and terror unexpectedly welled up in his heart.
'Just what kind of existence is hidden in the unexplored depths of that mountain range?'
Just then, a group of people walked out from the temporary military base. Several of them, who looked like scholars, approached Professor Qian and his team, greeting them enthusiastically. Zhou Yuanjue seemed to recognize a few of them as prominent figures in Donghua's historical academic circles. The group quickly escorted Professor Qian and the others away.
A remaining Secret Inspection Bureau captain of medium build and with a serious face walked up to them. He and Lu Zhen saluted each other and then shook hands. "Captain Lu, it's been a long time."
"Captain Zou, hello."
Lu Zhen smiled and returned the greeting.
After their greeting, Captain Zou immediately looked at Zhou Yuanjue, who was behind Lu Zhen, and asked Lu Zhen inquisitively, "Is this...?"
Lu Zhen nodded slightly.
Captain Zou's expression immediately turned solemn. He saluted Zhou Yuanjue and said with some excitement, "You're finally here, sir. There are several people waiting for you. Please, come with me."
'They're still waiting at this hour?'
Zhou Yuanjue glanced at the moon, which was already beginning to set in the sky, and narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Let's go. I was just thinking I'd like to meet them as well."
Zhou Yuanjue said calmly.
He then parted ways with Lu Zhen and the others. Led by Captain Zou, he soon arrived at the entrance to a courtyard in the center of the military base.
"After you, sir."
Captain Zou extended his hand, gesturing for Zhou Yuanjue to enter the courtyard.
Zhou Yuanjue nodded, pushed open the courtyard gate, and stepped inside.
However, the moment he stepped into the courtyard, his expression changed dramatically.
Inside the courtyard, the sun was shining brightly. Flowers and plants grew in abundance, a riot of purples and reds. The sweet fragrance of blossoms filled the air, and the gentle sunlight warmed his skin.
It was as if he had stepped into a worldly paradise, an Immortal Realm.
But it was clearly the middle of the night. How could there be sunlight?!
Zhou Yuanjue took a step back, out of the courtyard.
Outside, the bright moon hung high in the sky. A cold wind blew, and the plateau night air carried a distinct chill.
Captain Zou stood quietly outside the gate as if on guard. He glanced into the courtyard through the open gate and saw that it was dim inside, not much different from the scenery outside.
He took another step forward, re-entering the courtyard. What greeted his eyes was still the brilliant, warm sunlight. The warmth on his skin was undeniable.
One step, paradise; one step, Hell.
A single door seemed to separate two different dimensions.
This was "Stealing the Sky and Switching the Sun."
