Invincible Dad-Chapter 628: Your Sword_1
This mouth was enormous—or rather, the entire Sea of the Moon was a mouth. It remained wide open, swallowing the Golden Sword Beam that Li Qingzhou slashed down. Once again, the Sea of the Moon was plunged into darkness and utter silence. It seemed as if everything that had just happened was merely an illusion.
"That was a mouth!"
"Sect Leader Li, this Sea of the Moon is incredibly strange. Are you sure we should go down?"
"..."
About ten of the three hundred Golden Core Realm Elders voiced their hesitation, their fear palpable. That huge mouth clearly didn’t belong to any ordinary Demonic Beast; it had swallowed Li Qingzhou’s Golden Sword Beam without suffering the slightest harm.
Its Boundary... was definitely above the Nascent Soul Realm!
Li Qingzhou offered no reassurance, only saying calmly, "It’s alright. It’s not too late to leave now."
He turned around. Glancing at the varied expressions on their faces, he chuckled lightly. "Those who aren’t leaving, follow me and jump."
"So what if it’s a Nascent Soul? We’ll just slay it."
With that, Li Qingzhou leaned back and plunged into the unfathomable depths of the Sea of the Moon, voluntarily throwing himself toward the giant maw of the unknown Demonic Beast hidden in the endless darkness.
It was a blatant act of suicide, yet it compelled the three hundred Elders from the three sects and Nine Pavilions at the edge of the Sea of the Moon to roar in unison, "Jump!"
No one was without fear of death, but they were willing to trust Li Qingzhou. They were willing to believe in this young Sect Leader who had reached the Peak of Golden Core at the mere age of forty.
The three hundred and one of them leaped, and endless darkness surrounded them. Even the starry sky beyond the Sea of the Moon dimmed in an instant, as if... it had been obscured by something.
Junior Sister, I never wanted to be the Sect Leader of the Yunxiao Sect. But you’ve been missing for five years, so I had to take your place, carrying this burden for both you and Master.
I began my cultivation at three and started practicing with the sword at seven, yet my sword has never been drawn.
This sword of mine...
I have nurtured it for thirty-three years.
Today, I shall borrow your Yunxiao Sword.
Deep within the Sea of the Moon, now engulfed by darkness, Li Qingzhou’s whisper was barely audible. The Yunxiao Sword in his hand was drawn.
At that very moment, the sword’s blade flashed with a boundless, cold light, making the heavens and earth themselves seem to change color as a terrifying presence enveloped the entire star.
The pupils of the three hundred Elders from the three sects and Nine Pavilions were wide with stunned horror. They only saw a flash of cold light before the air filled with the thick, pungent stench of blood. A mournful scream accompanied it—the dying wail of the giant-maw Demonic Beast. And then... there was nothing.
They floated for an unknown amount of time before finally landing. Suddenly, a brilliant light appeared before them. The three hundred Elders instinctively raised their arms to block the light, squinting as they slowly surveyed their surroundings.
The bottom of the Sea of the Moon was a lush, green meadow. A gentle breeze swept through, sending waves across the verdant landscape.
Li Qingzhou stood in silence. He sheathed the Yunxiao Sword and took a deep breath, gazing at the meadow that stretched out like a boundless, green sea.
The Spiritual Energy was incredibly dense. It was so potent that one could scarcely believe this was the Moon. It was even more concentrated than the Spiritual Energy in the territories of the One Sect, the Three Sects, and the Nine Pavilions—or even that of a Dragon Vein!
Li Qingzhou looked down, his pupils contracting sharply. There, nestled in the grass, he saw a beautiful embroidered shoe. It was stained with mud and worn by the passage of time.
A relieved smile spread across Li Qingzhou’s face. His Little Junior Sister was indeed here.
"This is a forbidden area."
A voice sounded from the sky, and everyone looked up to see a young woman of about eighteen or nineteen, dressed in a luxurious green gown. Her clear eyes looked down on them as if they were already dead. "You should not have trespassed."
"I am looking for someone named Gong Qiu," Li Qingzhou said, his tone neither servile nor overbearing. "Pardon my intrusion, but is she here?"
"There are no outsiders here."
"But I found her shoe."
"All who enter here die. Not just her, but all of you as well."
The young woman’s voice was melodious, yet it sent a chill of foreboding through Li Qingzhou. He called out in a deep voice, "Elders, set up the Formation!"
"Set up the Formation!"
The three hundred Elders chanted in unison, their bodies a blur as they shifted positions. Within three breaths, they had all found their places.
WHOOSH. The Formation snapped into place. Strands of starlight cascaded from the sky, exceptionally dazzling and beautiful.
"The Starlight Array?" Surprise finally colored the young woman’s voice.
She knitted her brows. "This isn’t the Star Origin Sect’s offensively-focused Starlight Array. It seems to be an imitation of the Zhoutian Star Fighting Formation, but a poor one at that. You haven’t captured a shred of its essence."
"I am only here looking for someone," Li Qingzhou stated. "Once I find my junior sister, we will leave immediately."
"This place is forbidden. Anyone who enters must die. It is true that a woman entered here five years ago." She added with a grin, "Oh, that’s right. I did grant her a great fortune—the fortune of dying by my hand."
"You killed my junior sister!?"
Li Qingzhou clenched the Yunxiao Sword, his deep eyes instantly blazing with killing intent. His junior sister had been missing for five years, and he had often wondered if she was still alive. He had never imagined that the news of her death would be told to him by her murderer.
"And what if I did kill that ant?" A smile played on the young woman’s lips. "Are you thinking of taking revenge on me? How absurd."
"She was not an ant! She was my junior sister! She had a name—Gong Qiu!"
Li Qingzhou flicked his wrist, unsheathing the Yunxiao Sword as he thrust forward in a fierce strike. Man and sword became one, transforming into a point of light that seemed to pierce the very void.
The young woman’s mocking smile only deepened. She didn’t even make a move, simply allowing the attack to come at her. It was as if she were watching an ant trying to ram a Divine Dragon—utterly amusing in its overestimation of its own strength.
DING—
A crisp sound rang out. The indestructible Yunxiao Sword could not penetrate the invisible barrier surrounding the young woman.
PFFT! Li Qingzhou’s face went pale, and he spat out a mouthful of blood. His sword had not only failed to harm her, but the rebound had injured him instead!
"The light of a firefly, daring to compete with the splendor of the moon."
With a sneer, the mysterious woman waved her green sleeve. The force sent Li Qingzhou flying backward, crashing into the defense version of the ’Zhoutian Star Fighting Formation.’
In the next moment, the starlit Defensive Array shattered completely.
PFFT! Including Li Qingzhou, every one of the three hundred Elders spat out a mouthful of blood, staring at the woman in the sky as if she were a Devil. The Defensive Array, controlled by three hundred Golden Core Cultivators, had been destroyed so effortlessly.
Just how high was her Boundary...?
Even Li Qingzhou, who had slain a Nascent Soul Realm giant-maw Demonic Beast with a single sword strike, was no match for this woman.
"You know, I am, in fact, quite kind," the mysterious woman said, looking at Li Qingzhou and cocking her head. "Since you’ve slain the guardian Demonic Beast, you can take its place and guard the gate for my clan."
"I would rather die than become your lapdog!" Li Qingzhou struggled to his feet. His injuries were not severe; he still had the strength to fight.
"Oh?" The mysterious woman’s smile blossomed like a flower. "What if I told you that to survive, your little junior sister became the guardian Demonic Beast?"
"That sword strike of yours killed her."
