Invincible Snake Emperor-Chapter 103 - 102: True Flight
If it weren't for the Giant Snake Gene, Tu Xiao'an's body would never have reached such a terrifying size.
Following a normal Level progression, even if he reached Level 15, he would at most be a large snake three or four meters long.
The Giant Snake Gene gave his body unlimited growth potential, with absolutely no restrictions.
But having such a huge body really wasn't a good thing for Tu Xiao'an. If he lived in a forest, then the larger he was, the more invincible he'd be—practically the most terrifying overlord there.
However, trying to get by in the city, his massive body made it difficult to move even an inch.
This was a thorny issue. It had gotten to the point where he couldn't even go home.
Even more noteworthy was how this shedding had completely transformed his appearance. He was originally covered in Silver White Snake Scales, but the pattern on his new skin was entirely different. It was now segmented, one section gold and one section silver. The two types of scales complemented each other perfectly, covering his entire body in an alternating pattern of gold and silver that shimmered with a faint luster.
It was as if he had donned an imperial Yellow Robe, giving him an imposing and majestic air.
He had transformed from a Silver White Snake into a Gold and Silver Snake, and his strength was now worlds apart from what it had been.
'It seems I've gotten even more handsome. I guess there's no escaping the title of "Super Hunk of the Snake Race" now.'
Amused by his own silly thought, Tu Xiao'an suddenly caught sight of a huge piece of Snake Skin lying nearby.
This was the Snake Skin from his first transformation. It still contained a dense concentration of Energy, making it fatally alluring to other creatures.
Snake Skin was an important ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine, capable of treating many illnesses and commonly used by people.
But the Snake Skin shed by Tu Xiao'an was something else entirely. Its value was immeasurable. If fed to a sick person, they would recover instantly. If fed to a pet, it could raise the pet's Level.
It was clearly on the Level of Heavenly and Earthly Treasures.
'Good stuff. Can't let it go to waste.' Tu Xiao'an's eyes narrowed, and he abruptly stored the massive Snake Skin in his system.
If he had simply left the Snake Skin behind in the forest, the moment he departed, countless animals would swarm the area and fight to the death over it.
Having done all this, Tu Xiao'an checked his stats again. Because his Level had jumped all the way to Level 15, he had earned two chances at the random lottery.
'This might be another great opportunity to increase my strength.'
He quickly focused his thoughts, and a virtual turntable materialized. It was the same old thing.
The turntable displayed four categories: "Functional Class," "Consumable Class," "Special Class," and "Attribute Class."
'Looking at the four categories, and remembering my first draw was from the Functional Class, I really hope my luck explodes this time and I get something from the Special Class.'
'I'm dying to know just how "special" this so-called Special Class really is.'
His Snake Gaze narrowed, and the virtual turntable began to spin rapidly. One spin, two, three... after more than a dozen rotations, Tu Xiao'an started to feel a little nervous.
'It's like checking a two-dollar lottery ticket, fantasizing about winning five million.'
'The whole process is a mix of nerves and excitement, filled with the thrill of anticipation.'
The turntable's pointer gradually seemed to tire, its speed slowing. Tu Xiao'an's breathing grew heavier, his Snake Gaze fixed and unblinking.
Finally, the pointer stopped. Tu Xiao'an was stunned, because it had once again landed on the Functional Class.
"DING... Congratulations, Host. You have drawn the Flying Technique ability."
Note: The Flying Technique allows any creature to soar through the heavens. The speed is incredibly fast, and it feels just like moving on solid ground.
"DING... Immediately bestowing the Flying Technique upon the Host!"
Tu Xiao'an looked completely bewildered, not a trace of excitement on his face.
'Is this fucking kidding me? I can already fly, you know? What do I need a Flying Technique for?'
'Did I really just waste my random lottery chance like that?'
The moment the Flying Technique was bestowed, the ten-meter-long Gold and Silver Snake on the ground instantly rose into the air, as light as a swallow. The sensation of being airborne was just like being on land; there was no difference at all.
Ecstasy immediately washed over Tu Xiao'an. 'This is different! This is completely different!'
Before, he had cleverly used his Consciousness Power to lift his body and fly. But that required him to split his focus. Even in the sky, he couldn't move as he wished, and his speed wasn't very fast.
Furthermore, it consumed a great deal of his Consciousness Power.
Especially now that he was a ten-meter Giant Snake weighing over three hundred kilograms. Even if he could still fly using his Consciousness Power, his speed would be no better than a turtle's crawl.
But with the Flying Technique, the feeling of complete freedom was indescribable. He felt like a bird, able to fly however he wanted, completely unhindered.
'Alright, let me test my flying speed.'
Tu Xiao'an's Snake Gaze grew brighter. 'It seems I was too simplistic before. "Being able to fly" and "flying freely" are two completely different things.'
And just like that, the airborne, ten-meter Giant Snake moved. With magnificent and immense momentum, it was like a Divine Dragon Tail Swing. He shot forward, streaking across the sky like a roaming dragon.
Fast. Incredibly fast. In the span of a single breath, Tu Xiao'an was already a kilometer away.
It was as if he had a pair of Formless, agile, and powerful wings, allowing him to soar freely and untethered through the sky. The vast world, the shifting clouds—it was all laid bare beneath his gaze. The pleasure of flying amidst the heavens and the clouds was simply indescribable.
Only now did Tu Xiao'an understand. *This* was true flight. *This* was what it meant to soar between heaven and earth.
He was like a Divine Dragon. 'Who says a Snake is inferior to a Dragon? Anything a Dragon can do, I can do, too.'
Besides, Dragons were just mythical creatures. 'Do they even really exist?'
Tu Xiao'an tore through the sky like a hurricane scattering clouds. Amidst the roiling mist, his massive serpentine body swayed, looking for all the world like a Divine Dragon being born.
He flew over the highest peaks, seeing the light and ever-changing clouds. He flew past majestic mountains, over tranquil forests, across vast plains, above bustling cities, and toward the distant horizon where sea and sky met.
'This is what soaring ambition should feel like.'
Once, there was a tortoise with a dream. All its life, it wanted to fly, to see for itself just how high and far the blue sky truly was, to see how the clouds drifted as lightly as swallows. It didn't want to spend its entire existence crawling slowly on the ground, right up until the day it died. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Later, an Eagle learned of the tortoise's wish and said it could take the tortoise up to see the sky.
The tortoise was overjoyed, completely unaware of the Eagle's treacherous plan.
The Eagle grabbed the tortoise and flew high into the sky. The tortoise saw the graceful dance of the clouds and the boundless expanse of the heavens above. It saw beautiful sights it could never have witnessed from the ground. A smile of fulfillment spread across the tortoise's face; for a moment, it even forgot it was the Eagle carrying it.
Just then, the Eagle gave a cunning smile and silently released the tortoise from its talons. The tortoise plummeted from the sky, smashing onto a hard slab of rock below. Its thick, hard shell cracked.
The Eagle's plot had succeeded, and it feasted on the tortoise's meat as it had planned.
The Eagle silently cursed the tortoise for being a fool, but it didn't know that the tortoise had actually died without regrets. It had fulfilled its dream.
Creatures that can fly can never imagine the yearning land-bound creatures feel for the sky above their heads. It seems so close, yet it is forever out of reach.
