Invincible Snake Emperor-Chapter 119 - 117: Controlling Thunder, The Snake King Manifests
After digesting all of the Crowned Snake's memories, Tu Xiao'an felt none of the joy he should have from devouring an Awakened Snake.
'What a shame to have devoured such a loyal pet snake.'
This snake's life was an inspirational story. To avenge its dead master, it began its Cultivation, transforming from a non-venomous House Snake into a terrifying Mutated Crowned King Snake with fearsome abilities.
One person a day, six people in six days. After seeing the Crowned Snake's memories, Tu Xiao'an actually thought this method of killing was quite gentle.
It was filled with such overwhelming hatred and had spent a full fifty years in Cultivation. Even if it had slaughtered the entire Zhao Family in one fell swoop, it would have been nothing.
Its master, who had died so tragically along with the child in her womb—what a terrible injustice. It was a true human tragedy.
No one sought justice for them, no one avenged them. Only this snake wanted to do something for its master.
And even so, the Crowned Snake still honored the promise it had made to its master.
It went to great pains to force Elder Zhao to commit suicide, and it would have succeeded.
But I ruined it.
Tu Xiao'an was overcome with guilt.
This was a kind snake, loyal and devoted to its master.
If it were possible, Tu Xiao'an would have willingly spit the Crowned Snake back out. He would rather his system mission fail, rather give up all the rewards, just to let this snake carry out its revenge.
But alas, what was done was done. It was all in vain.
"DING... Congratulations, Host, for successfully Devouring the Awakened Snake Species, the Crowned King Snake. Your Level has increased by two. The first stage of evolution is beginning..."
WHOOSH...
In the courtyard, the Gold and Silver Snake was suddenly enveloped in a scorching white light. The light slowly lifted it from the ground, leaving it suspended in mid-air.
The white light enveloped the Gold and Silver Snake, making it appear sacred, inviolable, and utterly holy.
Tu Xiao'an could feel the white light frantically remodeling his body, completely fusing the Crowned Snake's Snake Race bloodline with his own.
It made his bloodline even more noble and extraordinary.
His power underwent another qualitative leap. His body filled with inexhaustible strength, while his physical fortitude and Consciousness Power improved across the board. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Comfortable, euphoric... his body felt fantastic. The Crowned Snake's bloodline was like a second growth spurt. He could clearly feel the subtle changes in his body as it CRACKLED and POPPED, a thrilling sensation like breaking free from a cage.
But the feeling was hard to describe.
It was a transformation akin to a carp leaping over the Dragon Gate.
They say a Snake becomes a Flood Dragon, and a Flood Dragon becomes a Dragon, as if becoming a Dragon is the ultimate destiny for any Snake.
'But since I'm a Snake, why must I become a Dragon? Any creature, if its bloodline continuously improves and its power soars, can look down upon all creation, supreme and unrivaled.'
'In all of heaven and earth, Dragons aren't the only ones who can look down on the world. I, a Snake, can also make all of creation submit to me.'
'A Dragon can grow large or small, ascend or conceal itself. I can do the same.'
If you were to ask a snake its greatest wish, it would reply, "I want to become a Dragon."
A petty ambition. But if you were to ask Tu Xiao'an his greatest wish right now...
'To devour a Dragon.'
'A snake devours all things, but only devouring a Dragon brings true satisfaction. That is the kind of domineering spirit a Snake King ought to have.'
'Dragons are high and mighty, while a snake is but a lowly crawler. To rise up from the bottom—that is the true path of a king.'
'If Dragons truly exist in this world, then I will become the viper that devours them. How exhilarating would that be!'
RRROOOOAAAARRR...
Enveloped in the scorching white light, the Gold and Silver Snake let out a long cry. An intangible, kingly aura that looked down upon all creation surged forth.
In an instant, every snake lying dormant within a ten-kilometer radius began to tremble. Terrified and awestruck, they prostrated themselves on the ground, as if to welcome the arrival of their king.
"DING... Congratulations, Host. Your Level has successfully increased to Level 17."
"DING... Congratulations, Host, for completely fusing with the Crowned King Snake bloodline and completing the first stage of evolution. Now bestowing Thunder Attribute Ability."
CRACK...
A bolt of lightning flashed through Tu Xiao'an's mind, like a sharp sword plunging into his heart. He instantly felt a wondrous new power welling up inside him.
"DING... Thunder Power successfully bestowed."
Suddenly, Tu Xiao'an opened his eyes. They shone with a brilliant light, and deep within his serpentine pupils, a bolt of lightning seemed to struggle, ready to burst free.
Electric light flowed across his gold and silver stripes as the air crackled and popped. Bolts of lightning, like silver snakes, shot out as Thunder Shock manifested, coiling and darting around his body. A terrifying phenomenon erupted.
Space itself seemed ready to tear apart. The brilliant white light of the Thunder was so intense that even the pristine moonlight dared not compete.
Just like that, Tu Xiao'an had become a true Snake King, a master of Thunder. Flashes of Thunder Shock flickered around his body, illuminating the Zhao Family courtyard as brightly as day.
The CRACKLE and POP of the Thunder Shock was incessant.
For the members of the Zhao Family, the string of bizarre events that night had already left them numb, their entire worldview turned upside down.
They felt that at this point, nothing could possibly surprise them.
But now, every one of them was dumbfounded, their jaws agape. They could only stare in utter disbelief at the Gold and Silver Snake suspended in mid-air, crackling with flashes of Thunder Shock.
A snake bathed in Thunder, its majestic aura looking down upon all creation. The sight involuntarily stirred an overwhelming urge within them to prostrate themselves in worship.
"The Snake King! It is the Snake King made manifest! Everyone, kneel!"
Elder Zhao's stooped body trembled as he tumbled from his wheelchair, prostrating himself toward the Gold and Silver Snake wreathed in the thunderous spectacle in mid-air.
At this point, Elder Zhao didn't need to say another word. The Snake King, the object of faith for the people of Bai Town, had appeared. The spectacle alone was enough to make anyone bow in submission.
"Long live the Snake King! Long live the Snake King!"
The Zhao Family kowtowed frantically. The Snake King had descended, punishing evil and promoting good, helping them slay the Evil Snake and saving their family from the brink of death.
The Crowned Snake had been incredibly powerful, practically a Snake Demon. Yet it was defeated and then devoured by this snake of unknown origin. This could only be the Snake King.
This was all the proof they needed.
Only the Snake King could possess such Divine Techniques. When it came to faith and worship of the Snake King, the people of Bai Town were second to none.
Forget the people of Bai Town; even an ordinary person would instinctively submit upon seeing the snake above, wreathed in the spectacle of Thunder Shock, with its commanding presence and extraordinary majesty.
What was the Snake King, and why was it so revered by the people of Bai Town? Because the Snake King was the Divine Spirit that watched over them.
The Zhao Family's House Snake had turned into an Evil Snake and people were dying, so the Snake King descended to punish it.
And they were witnessing it firsthand.
No one knew when the people of Bai Town first began to worship the Snake King; the origins were lost to the distant past. But tales had long been told of the Snake King manifesting to save the common people from disaster.
Legend had it that the Snake King achieved enlightenment through Cultivation on She Mountain and became the region's guardian. At first, it merely ruled over the Snake Race, preventing venomous snakes from harming people wantonly. Then, one year in ancient times, a terrible plague of Huo Luan broke out in the Bai Town area, killing many villagers. The people prayed for the Snake King to reveal itself.
The next day, a massive serpentine shadow manifested in the sky. It spat flames from its mouth, driving away the plague.
The villagers were saved. They built a temple, enshrining the Snake King as a Bodhisattva, and the incense there has burned ever since. To commemorate the event, they established the Snake King Festival, held every year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month.
To this day, Bai Town still holds the Snake King Festival on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, and statues of the Snake King can be found in every household.
As the Snake King manifested in the Zhao Family courtyard, stirring the winds and summoning endless thunder, it wasn't just the Zhao Family who took notice. Every single villager in Zhao Village was kneeling on the ground, kowtowing and making wishes.
The manifestation of the Snake King was a once-in-a-century event. It was a sign of great fortune!
