Invincible Snake Emperor-Chapter 70 - 69: Snake King
’Hmph. Did you think I couldn’t do anything to you just because you’re hiding behind your men?’
Tu Xiao’an sneered inwardly. He was calm, indifferent, and saw everything with perfect clarity. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
’Electric Bee King!’
WHOOSH...
An Electric Bee King, clad in gleaming Golden Battle Armor, suddenly appeared and shot straight up into the sky.
In broad daylight, under a clear blue sky, the sun hung like a ball of fire. The clouds seemed to have been burned away, vanishing without a trace. Suddenly, a flash of white light flickered in the sky above Jiang Xingze. Like a bolt of Thunder from a storm cloud, it struck him right on the head.
"Aaaargh..."
Jiang Xingze let out a piercing scream, his whole body shuddering. His knees gave out, and he collapsed to the ground again. White smoke curled up from his head, his eyes glazed over, and a faint electric current crackled across his body.
"This..."
The group of lackeys beside him were stunned, their eyes wide, as if they had just witnessed something incredible. Jiang Xingze’s hair was standing on end, and it was still giving off white smoke.
"Did I just get struck by lightning?"
After a long moment, the kneeling Jiang Xingze spoke in a daze, his eyes filled with confusion. His whole body felt numb, as if he’d been given an anesthetic.
"Uh... Young Master Jiang, I think so?"
The lackeys swallowed hard, glancing up at the azure sky as they answered uncertainly.
Jiang Xingze and his men were the ones involved, and the sudden event had left them completely dumbfounded. But the Snake Catchers of Bai Town were even more astonished.
They had clearly seen a flash of white light and a thin bolt of Thunder strike Jiang Xingze on the head.
Many thought their eyes were playing tricks on them, but Jiang Xingze’s hair standing on end and the white smoke proved otherwise.
For some reason, everyone’s gaze turned to the Silver White Snake that had snatched the Supreme Profound Snake. This bolt of Thunder once again shrouded the Silver White Snake in a veil of mystery.
Jiang Xingze had feared the Snake’s retaliation, and in the next instant, a bolt of Thunder came down.
"This Snake can control Thunder?"
"Could this Snake be the Snake King?"
As soon as this thought emerged, the Snake Catchers of Bai Town stared at the Silver White Snake in utter disbelief.
The strike of that Thunder was so bizarre. If the Snake didn’t unleash it, who else could have?
The people of Bai Town believed in the legend of the Snake King. The Snake King could control Thunder and command all snakes; it was both a God and an Immortal.
This belief was highly superstitious, but every household in Bai Town had a statue of the Snake King. They firmly believed the Snake King would protect the people, just as ancient people believed the Dragon King would bless them with favorable weather for their crops.
In ancient times, snakes were divided into four tiers.
The lowest was the Snake. Next came the Snake Spirit. Above that was the King. At the highest level, a Snake could ascend to the heavens, transform into a Dragon, and become an Immortal.
An ordinary Snake uses Cultivation to eliminate all internal impurities and negative energy. After absorbing nature’s spiritual energy, it can become a Snake Spirit. As the Snake grows older and sheds its skin repeatedly, its Snake Skin becomes vibrantly colored.
A dazzling and bewitching Snake is actually a common form taken by a Snake Spirit.
The people of Bai Town believed the Snake King truly existed. It would relieve the world’s sorrows, resolve hardships, offer guidance to the lost, and, most importantly, protect the peace and safety of the local people.
The so-called House Snake was believed to be an avatar of the Snake King.
In ancient times, the people of Bai Town made a living by catching snakes, and in modern times, Bai Town’s economy is also driven by industries related to the Snake Race.
"What Snake King? It’s obviously just a Snake Spirit, a Snake Demon! It’s a Demon! How could something like a Snake King possibly exist in this world?"
Jiang Xingze was cursing his rotten luck. He struggled back to his feet, the sound of crackling electricity still audible from his body.
He was going crazy. Getting struck by lightning in broad daylight—who could he even complain to?
"Bastard! How dare you! Do not disrespect the Snake King!"
The Snake Catchers of Bai Town immediately shouted him down. Whether this Snake was the Snake King or not, they would not allow their revered Snake King to be slandered.
"Haha... You country bumpkins, talking about some Snake King! That’s utterly ridiculous, absolutely hilarious! Superstition, nothing but feudal superstition!"
Jiang Xingze grew agitated. This Snake could talk and unleash Thunder—this was fucking unnatural! It was clearly a Snake Spirit that needed to be killed. Yet these country hicks were acting like they were worshipping a Divine Spirit.
CRACK...
White light flashed above his head again. Another thin bolt of Thunder landed with uncanny accuracy on the head of the roaring Jiang Xingze, forcefully slamming him back to his knees. An electric current surged through his body as white smoke billowed from his head.
Back on his knees, Jiang Xingze’s mouth was hanging open wide enough to fit a fist. The expression on his face was indescribable; he felt as if he’d just been slapped across the face, hard.
Getting hit by two bolts of Thunder in a row... that feeling was truly something else. He could even hear the sizzling sound of the current running over his body.
"Look, look! Another bolt of Thunder! I saw it clearly that time!"
The Snake Catchers of Bai Town grew excited. Everyone had seen Thunder before, but to see it strike a person from this close up was a first for them.
It was a truly satisfying thing to see.
"You bastard! Do you believe in the Snake King now?"
Someone questioned the kneeling Jiang Xingze. His lackeys were so scared they backed far away from him, afraid of getting caught in the crossfire.
They had no desire to experience the ’pleasure’ of being struck by Thunder.
"You scum! You must have done many terrible things to be punished by the Snake King and receive Celestial Punishment now!"
Just as people can be good or bad, snakes are divided between True and Evil. Evil Snakes, those with corrupt hearts, steal and eat livestock, devour human brains, and use illusions to bewitch people. They take shortcuts on their path, increasing their Cultivation by absorbing the True Essence of humans and animals.
A True Snake, on the other hand, undergoes deep Cultivation. Once it reaches a certain level, it will emerge to accumulate merit and achieve its righteous fruition, eventually becoming a Snake King that can take human form and travel the world healing people.
In many parts of the world, especially in countries with strong religious beliefs, snakes are deeply revered. The people of Bai Town were a prime example, true believers in Divine Spirits.
Ancient folklore told of a Snake King who would take the form of a young scholar to wander the mortal world.
It was said that anyone fortunate enough to encounter the Snake King, even if they didn’t become a high official, would be blessed with great wealth, nobility, and fortune for the rest of their life.
"Quick, quick! Let’s kneel to the Snake King! This must be the Snake King, no doubt about it!"
One by one, the Snake Catchers of Bai Town knelt toward the distant Silver White Snake, their expressions filled with reverence and awe.
Although this Silver White Snake wasn’t large, legend said the Snake King usually appeared in the form of a small, but clearly extraordinary, snake.
This time, it was Tu Xiao’an’s turn to be stunned. ’What the hell? Why are they kneeling to me? This seems to be getting out of hand.’
’The Snake King? The Snake Catchers actually think I’m the Snake King. This joke has gone a little too far.’
’Although I might become a Snake King in the future, I definitely wasn’t one now. I wasn’t even a Snake Spirit yet.’
Suddenly, a mischievous thought struck Tu Xiao’an. ’Actually, it wouldn’t be so bad if the people of Bai Town treated me as the Snake King. I’d get some pretty high-class treatment. I could do whatever I want in Bai Town.’
’Who would dare to catch me? Who would dare to capture me? Who would dare to disrespect me?’
’Even if I started talking, everyone would just think it was perfectly normal. After all, the Snake King is omnipotent and possesses the Transformation Technique.’
