Invincible Soul Emperor-Chapter 55: Joining the Qingyun Sect
"What! Li Zhe is dead!"
"You killed Li Zhe?"
Upon hearing this, Ye Changyun and the Supreme Elder couldn’t help but exclaim in shock as they looked toward Ye Qingchen.
Ye Qingchen nodded. "Yes."
He then recounted the events of the past month to Ye Changyun, the Supreme Elder, and the others, though he omitted the part about Xiao Xiao being taken away by people from the Wuji Immortal Palace.
Listening to Ye Qingchen’s story, Ye Xiao and Ye Ying’s hearts pounded with fear. They knew that if it had been them, they would have been long dead under Li Zhe’s pursuit, let alone managing to turn the tables and kill him.
Ye Changyun and the Supreme Elder exchanged a shocked glance. They had thought that without their protection, Ye Qingchen would be incredibly lucky to just escape Li Zhe. They never imagined he would actually kill him.
Ye Changyun’s gaze toward Ye Qingchen, in particular, had changed completely. He and Li Zhe were both Eighth-Layer Martial Artists. If Ye Qingchen could kill Li Zhe, does this mean he could also... The speed of Ye Qingchen’s cultivation was so fast that even Ye Changyun felt a jolt of alarm.
The Supreme Elder then thought of something and asked, "Hm? Where’s that little girl, Xiao Xiao?"
Ye Qingchen was about to answer when a cheerful voice came from outside the door.
"Supreme Elder, I’m right here!"
As the voice fell, Xiao Xiao skipped in joyfully, much to Ye Qingchen’s disbelief.
"Weren’t you...?" Ye Qingchen instinctively asked.
Xiao Xiao’s eyes curved into smiling crescents. "Sister Yao Yue from the Wuji Immortal Palace knew I couldn’t bear to leave the Young Master, so she gave me a special three-month vacation! For the next three months, I can stay by your side!"
Ye Changyun frowned. "Yao Yue? Wuji Immortal Palace? What kind of power is that?"
Xiao Xiao blinked her long lashes. "The Wuji Immortal Palace seems to be a Nine-Star Sect, but I’m not too clear on the details..."
"A Nine-Star Sect!" Ye Xiao and Ye Ying gasped in unison.
A Nine-Star Sect was a colossal existence that even the Qingyun Sect had to look up to. They were stunned that Xiao Xiao had encountered such a heaven-defying opportunity and been recruited by one.
"You want to stay by my side?" Ye Qingchen was taken aback. "But I’m leaving for the Qingyun Sect to report in tomorrow..."
The Supreme Elder chuckled. "That’s no problem. I’ve already made inquiries. Disciples entering the Qingyun Sect can bring one attendant to take care of their daily needs. You can take Xiao Xiao with you."
Ye Qingchen’s mouth twitched. Let an unparalleled genius with the Vermilion Bird Holy Soul be his attendant, taking care of his daily needs? The Supreme Elder really had some nerve!
"Great! I’ll go pack my things right now! I’ll go to the Qingyun Sect with the Young Master tomorrow!" Xiao Xiao declared, already looking impatient as she scampered off.
Ye Qingchen was left speechless.
If Yao Yue and her companion knew what the Supreme Elder was thinking, they would probably skin the old man alive!
...
While Ye Qingchen prepared for his journey, Ye Changyun and the Supreme Elder were not idle. They immediately led a large group of Ye Family experts out of the estate. Judging by the direction they were heading, their destination was clear: the Li Family’s estate.
...
「The next day.」
Du Pengcheng personally came to the door to pick up Ye Ying and Ye Qingchen. "Ye Qingchen, let’s go! Time to set off!"
Du Pengcheng greeted Ye Qingchen with a smile, but his gaze froze the next moment when he saw Xiao Xiao standing behind him. The peerless genius with the Vermilion Bird Holy Soul! Didn’t she join the Nine-Star Sect, the Wuji Immortal Palace? Why is she back?
Swallowing hard, Du Pengcheng pointed at Xiao Xiao and asked, "Ye Qingchen, is your handmaiden a twin? Did they take one, and this is the other?"
Ye Qingchen just rolled his eyes. Du Pengcheng’s imagination was really something else.
Xiao Xiao smiled. "I couldn’t bear to part with the Young Master, so I plan to accompany him to the Qingyun Sect. From your expression, Steward Du, it seems you’re not happy to have me come along..."
Du Pengcheng was overjoyed. "Welcome! The gates of our Qingyun Sect will always be open for you!"
Du Pengcheng had specially recruited Ye Qingchen for two primary reasons. The first was the young man’s incredible talent and combat strength. The second, and more important reason, was to use him as a bridge to get closer to Xiao Xiao. This would give the Qingyun Sect a priceless opportunity to build a connection with the Wuji Immortal Palace. Now, it seemed his goal was within reach without him even having to try.
Du Pengcheng was in high spirits. He quickly led Huang Xiaoshuai, Ye Ying, Ye Qingchen, Li Teng, and their four attendants onto a carriage bound for the Qingyun Sect.
...
「Three days later.」
The Qingyun Sect was located on the far side of the Qingyun Mountain Range, occupying a vast territory that spanned over a hundred miles. Du Pengcheng brought Ye Qingchen’s group to the foot of the mountains where the sect resided. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"We’re here! This is the Qingyun Sect!" Du Pengcheng announced proudly, gesturing toward the sect grounds, which were shrouded in dense Spiritual Energy.
Ye Qingchen looked up. Peaks of varying heights were faintly visible through the Spiritual Energy. Countless precious, unidentifiable birds flew through the clouds, soaring over the mountaintops. The entire Qingyun Sect was like an Immortal Realm on earth.
"It’s so magnificent! Truly worthy of being the number one sect in our Northern Desolate Country!" Huang Xiaoshuai exclaimed in awe. "Even though the Qingyun Sect isn’t too far from our Qingyun Town, the difference between them is like heaven and earth. There’s simply no comparison!"
At that moment, Huang Xiaoshuai felt that all his previous efforts had been worth it.
Ye Qingchen’s group followed Du Pengcheng through a massive mountain gate over a hundred feet tall and into the sect proper. As they entered, they passed other Qingyun Sect stewards leading their own newly recruited disciples.
Du Pengcheng led them around a mountain range, and a gigantic white jade plaza, so vast it seemed to stretch beyond the horizon, appeared before them. Countless youths were already standing on the plaza, forming a dense, dark mass.
"These people are this year’s new recruits, just like you," Du Pengcheng explained. "Join the others in the plaza and wait. I’m going to report in and get you all registered."
After giving his instructions, Du Pengcheng walked toward the front of the plaza, where several Qingyun Sect Elders were handling the reception.
It was the first time Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao had seen such a grand and imposing place. Like many of the other youths, they were filled with curiosity and excitement, looking all around.
Just then, however, a harsh shout suddenly reached everyone’s ears.
"Just ninety-ninth place in the trial tournament, and he gets to join our Qingyun Sect through special recruitment? This is absurd!"
Everyone turned toward the voice and saw an Elder with a long, upturned white beard berating Du Pengcheng.
"I don’t care what the reason is. Unqualified is unqualified! Someone like that doesn’t meet the criteria for special recruitment! This Elder refuses to allow it! You can tell him to pack his things and get lost!"
