Chapter 516: Chapter 522: The Unspeakable Secret Obstacle! (Third update)
The despicable cat lay in front of Yang Zhen, its face marked by an expression of surprise and uncertainty. One paw rested on Yang Zhen’s shoulder, while the other paw kept patting his face.
After waking, Yang Zhen pushed the despicable cat away, feeling a sudden shock as he looked around at his unfamiliar environment.
Everything about the secret treasure vault was the same. All the elixir bottles were still sitting in their haphazard arrangement, and Yang Zhen’s cultivation of the Undying Immortal Scripture hadn’t changed. In other words, he hadn’t gone anywhere, but had been sitting in Undying Clan’s legacy vault the whole time.
“Shit!”
Staring at the despicable cat with a stunned expression, Yang Zhen remarked incredulously, “Damn, I must have seen a ghost.”
“What do you mean you saw a ghost? You’re crying and lamenting like some saintly do-gooder. You scared me to death. This isn’t like you. Did you get possessed by something?”
Looking at Yang Zhen with a perplexed expression, the despicable cat extended a paw to feel his forehead, murmuring to itself, “No fever.”
Yang Zhen gave the despicable cat a speechless stare, his eyes flashing with uncertainty. He wondered what the correlation was between being possessed and having a fever. The despicable cat’s logic seemed to get weirder by the day.
With a deep breath, Yang Zhen relayed to the cat all he had seen and heard earlier, then asked, “Do you know what this monstrous beast is? Damn, it’s too powerful. A creature capable of blotting out the sky and sun. If such a creature exists, it could bring about the destruction of the entire world… Despicable cat, are you listening?”
The despicable cat sat there with a stunned expression, visibly at a loss.
“Damn, something big is happening, something big is happening…”
“What’s happening? What are you talking about?”
Yang Zhen was equally confused. From the expression on the face of this bastard cat, it certainly knew about the monstrous beast. Taking this into consideration, Yang Zhen instantly revived his interest and locked his gaze onto the despicable cat.
Unexpectedly, the despicable cat suddenly shook its head, looking at Yang Zhen with a serious expression, “Young man, I don’t know what monstrous beast you’re talking about. Don’t ask anymore and act as if you haven’t seen it.”
Infuriated, Yang Zhen slapped the despicable cat and shouted, “Bloody hell! Just because you say I haven’t seen it, doesn’t mean I haven’t seen it. The Sao Saint is very curious. What the hell is it? Why did it destroy the entire Undying Clan?”
“The destruction of the Undying Clan was most likely their doing. That being wouldn’t erase something for no reason, nor would it reveal itself casually. Kid, it’s not time for you to know this yet. I… dare not say.”
“Eh?” Yang Zhen paused. “There are things even you, you bastard, dare not speak of? Don’t tell me, this monstrous beast is related to the Great Catastrophe.”
It seemed that everyone in the realm of cultivation was interested in the Great Catastrophe, yet no one dared discuss it. It was as if mentioning anything about the Great Catastrophe would inexplicably lead to death.
Widening his eyes, Yang Zhen stared at the despicable cat unmoving, trying to discern any changes in the cat’s facial expressions.
To Yang Zhen’s disappointment, the usually expressive despicable cat didn’t reveal any information this time, and instead its expression deepened. After a prolonged silence, it finally spoke:
“Kid, your realm is too weak right now, all I can tell you is that you’re guessing correctly. But as for what that… is, don’t ever bring it up. Otherwise, not only will you and I die, but you will also implicate the entire Northern Island, even the whole of Nether State, and the entire realm of cultivation.”
“What the hell, is it that serious?” exclaimed Yang Zhen, his face full of disbelief.
In fact, even without the despicable cat’s reminder, Yang Zhen had more or less guessed something. Obviously, he couldn’t discuss it. This thing didn’t just want his life but also those of innocent people.
But now, Yang Zhen was even more intrigued. What happened to the Circulation Phase powerhouse of the Undying Clan who transformed into a black puppet? And what about the beautiful lady, who despite losing all signs of life, was determined to brand a mark on the monstrous beast? Was she… seeking revenge?
Putting aside if the deceased Ye Lingyin would be able to exact revenge, at least up till now, Yang Zhen had seen that stunning woman and that celestial beast only in the shadows. Furthermore, for thousands of years, no one had discussed that celestial beast or Ye Lingyin. It seemed that both of them had disappeared.
Yang Zhen took a deep breath, staring at the pesky cat and asked, “Ok, Sao Saint has one question for you. Was that celestial disaster related to that thing?”
Just as the pesky cat was about to speak, a thunderous boom filled the air, startling the cat so much that it startled and darted it into Yang Zhen’s arms.
“Damn it, son, get out of here. Don’t ask anything, don’t say anything. If you want to know about the celestial disaster, find the answer yourself. If you truly want to know, one day you will find out the truth.”
Yang Zhen was also frightened, not expecting such a level of conversation to stir the heavens and the earth’s discontent.
The heavens and the earth had too much narrow-mindedness, didn’t they?
Yang Zhen raised his head… only to realize he couldn’t see the sky because he was still inside a cave on the mountainside.
Looking at the pesky cat’s sneaky face, Yang Zhen didn’t pick on it. For this matter, he was destined to do as everyone else, and search for the answer slowly.
At the very least, Yang Zhen was one step closer to the truth.
What aroused Yang Zhen’s curiosity was that Ye Lingyin seemed to have practiced a unique martial skill. With a finger, she could destroy the world. In the Undying Clan, only Ye Lingyin had ever used the power of a single finger to pierce through the celestial beast. Although it recovered quickly, it was enough to make Yang Zhen envious for quite a while.
Sadly, that stunning woman Ye Lingyin possibly had been dead for tens of thousands of years. Furthermore, Yang Zhen was certain that he and the pesky cat had not found that unfathomable martial skill in the Undying Clan’s inherited secret treasures, which was this treasure pavilion.
Such a pity!
Just as Yang Zhen was collecting his thoughts, intending to revisit the Mountain Gate Ruins, an earth-shattering rumble erupted from the middle of the sky, shaking the entire cave.
Yang Zhen was afraid it would collapse like it almost did earlier and immediately turned pale. He grabbed the pesky cat and shot upwards.
Exiting the cave, he retraced the same way back. This time was even smoother compared to when Yang Zhen and the pesky cat entered. The pesky cat even jumped off Yang Zhen’s head. It folded its hands under its chin, and crossed its legs while hanging midair.
An eerie force carried the two towards the cliff. Just as they were about to ascend the cliff, another earth-shattering noise rang out. Yang Zhen watched as an ancient, weathered boulder fell from the cliff.
“I…damn it!”
Yang Zhen hastily leaped, clinging to the edge of the cliff with the pesky cat.
The force from that tunnel had indeed vanished without a trace.
The pesky cat was shrieking, laying on Yang Zhen’s shoulder with its eyes closed and wailing: “Damn it, boy, don’t let go. There’s no way to fly here. If you let go, we’re goners. Ah, my… the Sao Saint doesn’t want to die.”
Hearing the pesky cat’s words, if Yang Zhen could spare a hand, he would definitely toss this rascal off the cliff, swearing: “Damn you, when will you quit showing off? Hurry up and jump up there, then pull me up. What are you doing? Waiting for Chinese New Year!”
The pesky cat was suddenly stunned, opened its eyes, and said: “Oh, right!”
After saying that, with just a light jump, the pesky cat was on top of the cliff, pulling Yang Zhen up.
“Who the bloody hell is causing a commotion?” Yang Zhen sat on the ground muttering to himself, looked up, and his face suddenly turned peculiar.
