Chapter 389: Chapter 19: Isn’t everyone mortal!

"Knight Jet," Princess Tashina praised, "I know you all are warriors worth ten each. But precisely because of that, you cannot take on a hundred."

At this time, Kao said, "My master told me that no matter how many sheep there are, they are not to be feared."

"The situation has changed," Tashina said. "The followers of the Church Court are different from before."

Green remarked, "I don’t think those Church Knights are so fearsome."

The princess shook her head, "It’s not just the Church’s knights. The Conqueror’s magic spell has dissipated, and the sealed powers are now awakening. It seems you are not aware."

Roman, sitting in the main seat, asked, "What magic spell?"

"The one Iaos cast against the All Gods and the Church’s spells," Tashina glanced at him; since arriving in River Valley, she had faced repeated setbacks. She was not in a hurry, though, because she knew that sooner or later she would find her moments and make Roman realize her importance.

Roman immediately frowned, "Wasn’t he a knight?"

"The first king was the greatest knight of the Black Iron Age, that’s true. But he was also highly accomplished in spellcasting, stronger than some Seat Witches. He had the ability to cast such a terrifying magic spell."

Roman ignored her somewhat mocking gaze. "You’d better explain clearly."

"The first king cast an ancient curse when forging the Black Iron Crown, which could effectively restrain the powers of the gods in another world. From the time the crown was forged, the Church Court lost their proud divine patronage on this earth."

Roman looked back at the two witches. Shasta was cool-faced and silent, while Margaret whispered, "If the Conqueror truly did that, it means he severed the connection between the Church Court and the gods of the Netherworld."

She had long sought that world. If the gods truly existed, the Netherworld must be their dwelling place.

Tashina continued, "Throughout the centuries of being sealed, the Holy Seat yearned to destroy that crown incessantly, to unleash the mighty power from that other world, and now... the Church Court has succeeded."

Margaret asked, "Princess Tashina, how much do you know about the Netherworld?"

"My spellcasting is shallow; I lack the witches’ talent," Tashina did not conceal her knowledge of spells. Compared to the White Steel Princess’s martial prowess, spellcasting was insignificant.

She said, "It was the scholars who told me; they inherited the human wisdom of the Dark Age and have used the Sun Stone to project that world, but their eyes are clouded by darkness... I was about to ask you witches for details."

Those scholars understood medicine, practiced divination, and interpreted prophecies, bearing the knowledge from the human Dark Age in their minds, yet much knowledge is lost or incomplete.

Spellcasters call that world the Netherworld, scholars call it the Spirit Realm, and astrologers call it the Star Realm.

Shasta said, "Princess Tashina, then you will be disappointed. You’ve misunderstood witches—scholars from the Academic City might observe it with the Sun Stone, but most witches know nothing of the Netherworld. Even if it does exist, to us, it’s merely an invisible curse..."

"What about the Prophet?"

Shasta answered, "She is not here now, and she does not wish for us to explore that world."

"Ha! Lord Roman, it seems that you and your power are still kept in the dark."

Roman knew his own shortcomings; he had not yet gathered many talents. If he was ignorant, he would listen. He said, "By all means, share your insights."

"Mortals’ vision can only reach a hundred meters, yet those who are extraordinary can see for thousands of miles, for they understand how to receive revelations... My father, King Shasta, foresaw the end of the Black Iron Age years ago. He endeavored to prevent that grim future. Regrettably, his abilities were limited and he lacked the willpower to prevent the collapse of Black Iron. On the eve of the War of the Kings, scholars from Black Castle observed an endless darkness; the shadow tide arose, foretelling and reflecting many things—when the silhouettes of the Dragon Clan flew out from that shadow tide, the real Dragon Clan also appeared in the real world. When you look towards Divine Mysterious, you would see a different scene, with hymns lingering and glory shining, filled with joy and jubilation, for the Church Court has shattered the shackles that have been sealed for a century..."

Roman asked, "What does this mean?"

Tashina said, "It means we’re not only facing the Church Army but also the mighty power of All Gods. The mana of nuns and priests will grow to a terrifying extent. Fortunately, the stars have not yet returned to their places, and the Netherworld has not merged with reality, or else that would be the absolute worst."

"I don’t know if you’ve heard a saying. At certain times, the whole world can become unrecognizable—darkness rising, corpses decaying and reviving, Dead Souls reappearing, ancient races, Evil Gods, Devils..." The Princess listed these omens, believing that the Dark Age was near. She concluded, "The Conqueror system exists to ensure the maximization of the Human Clan’s strength. It unites the earth’s kings to watch over the darkness. For when that tide arrives, there will be no place for any life, and the earth’s kings will have to create a sanctuary."

Roman tilted his head slightly, clenching his jaw forcefully, his complexion somewhat pale.

What in the world is all this!

He thought for a moment and said, "I’m not considering what future you speak of, but the current situation is clear. If the Church Court wants to fight for my territory, let them come. It doesn’t matter who they send. This war is decided by the Holy Seat or the King of Divine Mysterious. They want to fight as long as they will, and I am ready to face them to the end!"

Life and death are nothing; if you can’t accept it, just fight!

What Roman was truly annoyed with was that he lacked the initiative, only able to take a beating rather than strike first.

As for other things, he had already prepared himself mentally, the worst outcome being the arrival of the gods, crushing him with a flick of their finger.

It doesn’t matter—dead is dead. Who doesn’t die?

"After all, I only want to kill them or be killed by them."

Upon hearing this, a rare smile appeared on Tashina’s face. "Lord Roman, I think the outcome will definitely be the latter." She admired Roman’s style; it immensely appealed to her.

Her father was a fool—when they came to destroy your crown, and yet you still thought about the big picture?

What is the big picture?

The order of the late king, that is the big picture!

Beat up all those disobedient kings!

Whether it’s the Holy Seat, the King of Divine Mysterious, or Riptide Fury, fight them all in the name of subduing the disloyal, and replace them with someone more obedient.

The first King of Ice Island came to power exactly in this way.

Did the Conqueror help the Pirate King to establish the Ice Island Kingdom and provide countless aid, merely in exchange for the support of the Ice Island Kingdom for the Black Iron Royal Family?

Lord Yerman died in Black Castle, as he should have. All the kings of the land had the duty to die for the Black Iron Royal Family; otherwise, where would their ruling status come from?

But Iolion was old-fashioned and weak at heart. He could not bear much, yet he stubbornly persisted... She should have killed him earlier, or kept him confined in the deep palace, if only her arm were not twisted by the leg...

Compared to him, Roman was much more pleasing to the eye.

A ruler with a strong character inherently possesses a great charm in this era.
