Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?-Chapter 22 - The Snack Alley
“So, Sister Bai, are you just picking any guest room to crash in? How about the one across from mine—sound good?”
I thought it over and figured I’d set it up that way. After all, this was my dorm now, and since I was the only one here for the moment, I'd call the shots!
“This is your dorm—and your yet-to-be-met roommates’ too. How could I just barge in like that? Using a stranger’s stuff feels kinda rude. I was thinking… your bed’s plenty big... It’s set up like a double.”
“Huh? Wait, no, Sister Bai, that’s your plan?” Now I was freaking out.
It’s not that I was scared of Bai Yu doing anything—it’s just I’m not used to sharing a bed.
Seriously, I was not used to it at all.
Even when I stayed at Bai Yu’s place, I crashed on the couch out in the living room.
“Relax, I’m not gonna do anything to you~” she said.
I stared at Bai Yu’s smiling face. No weird vibes, just calm. Should be fine, right?
I mean, we were both girls—sleeping together shouldn’t be a big deal, should it?
“Well… okay then, as long as you’re cool with it…” In the end, I gave in.
I couldn’t exactly kick Bai Yu out, right? That’d leave me feeling guilty. Sharing a bedroom... Well, we've got problems here.
I couldn't just sleep on the floor.
It was a double bed, sure, but the thought of sleeping next to Bai Yu… I’d probably be up all night.
No way I could fall asleep like that!
“I don’t mind at all,” Bai Yu said, stepping closer and resting a hand lightly on my shoulder. “Hey, Yuehan, you’re not thinking about sleeping on the floor, are you?”
“Huh?” My heart skipped a beat.
Getting called out on my inner panic made me stumble. “No! I mean… why would I? There’s… no spare bedding anyway, right? Why would I even think that?”
“There’s extra bedding around,” she said. “So, you still want to sleep on the floor?”
“What? Then I could—”
“No floor sleeping. Girls need to take better care of themselves,” Bai Yu cut me off, pressing a finger to my lips before I could finish. It was less a suggestion and more an order—no room for debate.
Guess the floor’s off the table… and honestly, I was kind of excited about it.
I mean, I’ve never even shared a bed with my girlfriend before. Excited? Sure. Nervous? You bet.
I tried to calm down, telling myself it was fine. I used to be a guy—shouldn’t Bai Yu be the one worried? Now that she’s not fazed, so why should I be?
Plus, it was my room. What was there to freak out about with Bai Yu?
“Quiet now, so I’ll take that as a yes. But the night’s still young—want to check out Witch School after dark? It’s pretty lively.”
“Yeah.”
I nodded, a little unsure, but figured it’d be a chance to see more. I’m not big on loud, busy scenes, but trying something new didn’t sound bad.
We stepped out of the dorm area.
The campus was massive. If you wander around aimlessly, you’d be lost for days without covering it all.
This time, Bai Yu had a clear spot in mind: the college’s Snack Alley.
I’m a simple guy... or girl, or witch? Whatever—food’s involved, and I’m sold! Bai Yu totally gets that about me.
If I had to pick between a road to a fancy boutique or a food stall at the corner, I’d beeline for the snacks every time.
“This is the famous Snack Alley,” Bai Yu explained, all fired up. “It’s one of the four big alleys on campus. You can find pretty much any snack you’ve ever had from around the world here. It’s got a vibe like… uh, anyway, it’s a standout spot.”
“Four alleys, huh? Can I ask what the other three are?” Clearly, I was hooked on the topic.
If the campus seniors officially recognize these four alleys, they’ve gotta be something special, right?
Just walking down this one, I nearly lost Bai Yu in the crowd—it was packed, shoulder-to-shoulder chaos.
I eyed the weird snacks along the way, not quite getting why this place was such a hit. They smelled amazing, though.
Tons of people were lined up at stalls, waiting for some mystery fried thing to come out hot.
Maybe it was less about the food and more about soaking in the vibe.
“Well… you’ll figure it out eventually…” Bai Yu trailed off, looking a little awkward. I didn’t catch it, though, lost in the sea of people. “Anyway, Yuehan, wanna grab something to eat? My treat!”
“Alright…”
Since Bai Yu dodged the question, I figured it’s probably something like Charm Alley—whatever sketchy vibe that implies. Don’t blame me for jumping to shady conclusions here.
I couldn’t think of any other reason she’d clam up. Maybe Snack Alley’s the only normal spot.

“Well, then I won’t hold back.”
The street was clogged with seniors, but I finally parked myself at a little stall.
Guess tonight’s late-night snack starts with this odd-looking fried thing!
After a long wait in line, I snagged my first treat. The smell hit me hard—my stomach growled even louder.
This world’s food culture didn’t feel as refined as my old life’s, but I’ve got to hand it to their wild seasonings. They turn plain stuff into something tasty.
Yeah… it was a fresh kind of flavor.
The atmosphere here’s pretty great too—I’d love it even more if I were into big, noisy scenes.
Snack Alley lived up to its hype. By the time Bai Yu and I strolled to the end of the street, it was late.
We both reeked of that smoky, street-food smell.
No avoiding a shower now, and my skirt’s done for too—barely worn it once, and not even for long.
I did wonder, though—what if I set up a stall here?
My head was full of snacks from my past life that I hadn’t seen around. I’d never cooked for a crowd, but mix those ideas with this world’s spices? Could be magic.
No clue how to start a stall, though. Eh, I’d keep it as a backup plan. Bai Yu says it was only busy at night anyway—daytime was a ghost town for vendors.
“Still craving more?”
“Kinda, but my stomach’s maxed out.”
I rubbed my belly, puffed up for the second time today. Felt like Bai Yu went all out treating me again.
“Ready to head back? Car or my broom?” Bai Yu pulled out her broom and waved it at me. “If you’re nervous, I can fly low and take it slow.”
“Let’s BROOM!”
Translator's note: Almost every college here in China has a snack street. I've got one nearby and I visited very often. The food's quite nice, and very affordable. Not just students there—people from the whole city drive there to have a try.
I love that place.
If this novel gets popular someday, maybe I'd shot a video about the street and put it on YouTube.
And—yeah, there are some Charm Alleys around several campuses, too.
NOPE! Not gonna go there and get you videos!
This is the bonus chapter. Enjoy!
