Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer-Chapter 1220: Rootless assumptions
[OP: ]
(Somewhere on the eastern continent: )
The east is the land of nature, swords, cultivation, factions, sects, and trade.
Being even larger in trade compared to the west or the most resourceful north, the east is the connective point that connects all three of the continents with each other through various sea, sky, and land routes.
The east is larger than the north but not as much as the west. While the eastern continent does not contain a forbidden zone like the Great forest of the west, it still has more forests and old trees than the other two continents.
Just like the southern region of the western continent, the eastern continent also contains deep forests and special places and ancient sites… the east actually possesses the most ancient sites to have been discovered until now.
There are countless attractive things about this continent, countless things that one cannot help but admire. Many of the adventurers also wish to visit this continent at least once in their life and go against the strong monsters that appear in the forests of this continent.
Thanks to the denser Mana on the entire continent, the clean nature, as well as the relatively more preserved nature of the continent, the creatures there have stayed relatively unchanged as well.
They are strong and they pose a great challenge to the adventurers of all around the world. There are many strong teams famous around the world that come from the east.
The east, despite being divided into nations and empires, is not governed solely by these powers. There are sects, there are orthodox and unorthodox factions, and then there are royalties who have preserved their ancestral lineage.
In some areas, the sects and factions exert more influence than the crown while in places like the central empire, the influence of the crown is above even the authority of the existing factions.
The east, thus, is a diverse place where all kinds of things happen and all kinds of people gather.
The markets of the continent, whatever city or state one chose, were always bustling, filled with tourists and natives searching for new things.
The eastern theme, the tall buildings of the rich and the smaller houses of the poor, the packed neighbourhoods where many people live in smaller houses, families of a dozen living in a one floor house wasn't new in this continent either.
The continent boasted a higher population than both the west and north. There were simply a lot of people, just like how there were a lot of beasts and monsters on this continent.
'Perhaps their population was the reason the cultists chose to operate mainly in this place.'
Demons were an inherent part of human society. They lived within the humans to gain something precious, something they could only get from the humans– a pure lifeforce filled with a life's worth of emotions.
However it may actually seem like, the demons were simple beings. They lived for themselves, enjoy, for pleasure, for fun, and for their own goals.
They did what they wanted, even going against the natural laws sometimes, doing things that they should not. It was a pretty common thing within the low ranking demons that had been roaming the world since ancient times.
Even for the Rakshasas, the demon that they have contracted with needed something in return for providing their power to these mortals.
While they might have given themselves to their demons, they were not demons themselves. The Rakshasas were dumb bunch of people that did things for the supremacy of the demons.
They wanted the demons to prosper with all their lives, so they gave what they had to the demons and moved for thor lords.
The cultists, on the other hand, were nothing like that…
Wanting the destruction of the world as well as the annihilation of everything, they wanted to see everything end for reasons that the people opposing them did not know yet.
They were strong, they were organised, they were deep rooted, and they were spreading with each passing moment.
'The east was the hub of their activities.'
While one could not see their movements in the light, they were present everywhere in the dark.
"Smuggling banned things, operating in the name of divine justice, they are doing whatever the hell they want!" The natives were angry at the whole situation.
The cult here wasn't hiding as it was on the other continents. It was operating in the broad daylight, however what they were doing wasn't the same as what they had been doing on the other continents.
Here on the east, the cult had established itself as a trademark in the underground world.
Be it acquisition of illegal substances, distribution of such elements, assassinations, corporate sabotage , whatever inappropriate thing that the criminals of the east could do, the cult was doing it better than them.
"They are so damn good at what they are doing that it's making everything impossible for us, damn it! My women wanted to go on a vacation but I don't even have money to feed them expensive delicacies!
Those damned Fanatics have trampled over everything we've built up over so many years in such a short time!"
The native criminals who ran their own organizations were all frustrated right now. They did not know what they were supposed to do when faced with an enemy that was so obviously better at what they were doing.
"They have clients from all over the continent, they have absurd resources, whatever they do they can do it so well that it's making my head spin! And that's not even everything!"
Contracted killing, looting of villages, stealing, doing unethical raiding within different territories, torturing, mass genocide, arson, and many more things… They were doing everything all around the continent and there was nothing stopping them.
"They're clearly connected to the demons but there's no fucking proof of that!" A gathering of all the people affected by these cult calling themselves Followers of Salvations was happening right now.
There were all kinds of 'artists' here. Killers wanted in various states. Criminals with a bounty of thousands of gold on them… those who killed for pleasure, those who collected souvenirs from their victims, there were collectors and there were simple businessmen who dealt with special goods.
The underworld, as a collective entity, was a gathering place for people with similar taste. They weren't good enough to be called humans, and they weren't bad enough to be compared to the cultists either.
At the very least, they weren't directly connected to the demons or demonic powers. They did not want the destruction of the world.
There were other things that they wanted and they worked to achieve those things– pleasure, money, satisfaction, relief, experience, secession, their goals were different and they did destroy the world and society for that.
However, their end goal was still not the destruction of the world, making them different from the damned cult.
"We should just get rid of them!" Gathered in a unique underground place made with the best artifacts and with the best possible security, they were gathered here by the request of the top-guns of the eastern underworld.
Their business and movements were being affected because of the cult's movements and they could not take it anymore. They were the sole reason all these people, all these strong, crazy, and influential people had been gathered here.
"We would have gotten rid of them if we could do that a long time ago. But… it's not that easy." A deep voice spoke up, attracting attention from everyone present.
Of the ruling powers of the underworld, this person, master of spear, a strong knight King, operated the biggest Greens business.
Each leaf that was lit up on this continent had passed through his hands, making his authority within the room more prominent than most of the small fries.
"They are strong already, but their corrupted bodies make us vulnerable in prolonged combat. They move as if they are one entity. They have artifacts that we have never seen. And if that's not enough, they know almost everything about us!"
For each association of the underworld that tried going against them, the results had not been good.
Not only did they lose a large chunk of their forces, they also ended up wounded in an unexpected manner.
"They already knew about us, and that's where we fell." Another authoritative voice spoke, trying to attract the attention of the masses. But, as soon as this person spoke, a strange beam of white light cut his entire body vertically.
-Zaaaaaaa…!
{ "It's not that you all fell because they knew more about you all." } A voice that shook them from the inside indiscriminately spoke up from somewhere.
The origin of the voice was unknown, but the feat that was induced with each and every one of the people present who saw one of the untouchable kings of the underworld fall without any resistance spoke for the powers of the speaker itself.
{ "You may be good at what you all do, but the people you're trying to go against are an entity that not even the empire and crowns could touch carelessly." }
The only reason the underworld was left untouched for the time being was the seriousness of the situation that went beyond the authority of the various nations and sects.
One wrong move and the cult would have all the chances that they needed to spread all around the world and proliferate.
They already had scary methods and resources, the eastern powers did not want to be the first to fall to the hands of the likes of them because of their own mistakes.
{ "If you try moving, the ones watching all of this from above will only target you and stop whatever you would try." }
The leader that was just cut down by the one speaking– the thing that revealed its true nature with the black blood of corrupt nature– was suddenly revealed to be someone from the cult's side.
A revelation so soul chilling that most of the people present froze in their places instantly at the sight.
{ "If you want to get rid of them or do anything about them, I suggest you do as I say." }
They did not know what this voice was. None of them present could recognize the cultist aside from her either.
And this one wasn't the only cultist that this voice had discovered.
-Ooooooooooong!
-Thud. Thud. Thud.
Many black blooded corpses appeared around them. Some of their heads exploded out of the blue, while some were cut in half like the first one.
The damage was blocked by a simple barrier so the corrupted blood did not spread, but this entire scene as well as this voice was something that shook even the most unhinged people of this continent…
The gathering of the underworld had just changed into something else. The propagator of which, unexpectedly, was a pureblood who coincidentally found herself in this palace.
