Chapter 231: This Though... This Is Surprising

"Heh! Another week almost finished, and yet none of us seem that much smarter~!"

Anwen’s proclamation had all of us turning towards the already tipsy Harekin with wry smiles on our faces since she was the only one who thought that, and considering we were all currently going over our notes or finishing up some homework while she got halfway through that bottle of hers...

The Harekin seemed to realize that as she began to look around, and the one that really drove that home to her was her long time friend Ishtarnii, who was currently jotting something down even as she gave Anwen a raised brow.

"Wha..? When did YOU of all people start studying and doing homework?! I don’t..!"

That bottle almost broke against the table as she slammed it down, and after a moment of glaring at Ishstarnii like the futanari had done something wrong for daring to be a student at an Academy Anwen finally let out a huff and stood up, only to sway for a few moments and plop back down with a nod.

"Yup, I can be smart... tomorrow. I’ll do my homework tomorrow... I thought we said we weren’t bringing the good stuff home with us..?"

Rolling my eyes and returning to the question that had been plaguing me for almost ten minutes now, I dryly replied "We did, and I can promise you that none of us brought home a bottle like that.", which made Anwen click her tongue as she glared at the bottle now.

"Then how did this get here..?"

We all just ignored her and let her be as she flopped down onto the sofa, sprawling out and groaning softly as she covered her eyes; we were all able to get back to work rather quickly, and I had no idea how much time passed us by when we were interrupted again.

Hecate opened the door and closed it behind her quietly enough, but in the somewhat silent dorm that was enough to get us all turning towards her; the greeting I was about to speak died on my lips when I saw the violet haired Noblewoman biting her lower lip and staring at the ground, her golden eyes wide and filled with what seemed to be fright.

"What happened?"

Kha’Miero was the one to speak first, and she pulled the Noblewoman out of her own mind as she walked over to us, her hands shaking slightly; when she took a seat all of our homework and studying was forgotten, and even Anwen was sitting up straight and staring at Hecate seriously.

"There... Later today, the Headmistress is going to summon everyone to discuss it, but... a Cult has begun to occupy the mountains around us, and... there have been multiple reports of a Demon creeping around the mountains as well. Different reports, different locations... same sighting. Getting closer."

Immediately the room was silent again, but this time it was a heavy, cold silence that had us all looking at one another in shock, only for me to bite my lip as well since this might mean there was not only a Demon here... but also a Fiend nearby too...

And if they were both here, that meant that things were going to get very, very ’interesting’ in the near future, which also meant that my half assed attempts at getting stronger were now extremely laughable... and very much something I was regretting.

"The Cult... they kidnapped a student. Threatened to butcher them if the Academy doesn’t pay up. Promised to deliver their skull to the Headmistress if they don’t get what they want..."

That was even more harrowing, though there was little we could do now that this person was already kidnapped; instead we were now sharing glances that made it clear we were all thinking the same thing, which was that there was no way in hell we were going anywhere alone anytime soon.

Kha’Miero and Lu’Shaki in particular were staring at me hard before they looked towards the others, and I could tell that they were playing back what had happened on our last Dungeon run and imagining it being even worse...

For another few moments we were all silent, though eventually Anwen broke that silence as she said "There goes our plans for this weekend... because we all definitely need to train some more.", mixing some whining with some seriousness as she looked at all of us.

I nodded in agreement, knowing that of all of us here I was the one that needed to get the most amount of training in lest something bad happen again, though at the same time I was also thinking about how I was going to need to get better at Alchemy too since that was something that could be extremely useful.

If we were all going to be sticking together from here on out and preparing for the worst, then having some good potions on hand could become the difference between continuing to live as we do now or finding ourselves in a horrible spot... or even worse, ending up dead somewhere.

The only ’issue’ with me getting that good at Alchemy was that it cost money, and in order for us to make money we needed to get into the Dungeons to farm for some materials to then sell... and until we knew just how dangerous this Cult was - and how prepared they were - I don’t know if we were going to head into any Dungeons anytime soon.

Though really the main issue was the Demon, and that had my hand going instinctively up to the earring that the Sinner had given me; it had me hoping that the futanari that was molded into a weapon to be used against these very beings cared enough about me to come save me from said beings if they decided to target me.

I don’t know how much I actually meant to her since all we did was have sex, but the hope was there that she might somehow give enough of a fuck about me to come save me if something were to happen with a Demon... though that also hinged on how far away we were from one another...

This, however... this was definitely a development that I hadn’t foreseen, and it was making me very worried about the future since there was a chance this Cult was actually THE Cult that began to show up later in the game, which would then mean that this could be THE Demon that gets the player acquainted with the endgame.

It did so by simply being one of the hardest enemies in the entire game capable of destroying your game with long stretches of gameplay that had no saving areas, where it would promptly force you into dozens of difficult situations with little hope of saving everyone or making the ’right’ decisions...
