I've Become the King of Villains in the Game-Chapter 292 - 213: Chocolate (Please Vote for Monthly Tickets!)
Chapter 292: Chapter 213: Chocolate (Please Vote for Monthly Tickets!)
Chen Lun gazed at the Dark Knight before him, lost in quiet contemplation.
The other was related by blood to Floey and was also the only family she had left in this world.
“It’s clear, she cares deeply about you,”
Bales said with a light chuckle.
“Such emotion is intense, I can feel it… the Wolf Clan members have an almost mad dedication to love.”
He paused.
“I have high hopes for you, Jack. You possess a very special quality, a fundamental line in human nature that is precious and rare.
And your progress is swift, so swift it astonishes me… Every step forward in the Mystic Realm requires tremendous effort, and you…”
The Dark Knight shook his head.
“Incredible.”
He slowly stood up, leaning against the tombstone, his hands resting on the hilt of his sword.
“Jack, is there anything else you want to ask?”
“Mr. Bales, why don’t you meet with Floey?”
Chen Lun spoke up.
The Dark Knight fell silent for a moment before answering with a single phrase:
“The time is not yet right.”
Without a word between them, Chen Lun pulled at the brim of his hat and approached the Dark Knight.
“I have no more questions, Mr. Bales. What do you need me to do next?”
“Aren’t you going to ask why I am being pursued by the Church and the Shelter? If I’ve done something heinous, would you still help me?”
The Dark Knight turned to look at him with interest.
“I would.”
Chen Lun revealed a small smile.
“Why?”
the Dark Knight asked.
“Because you are Floey’s only kin.”
He said it quite naturally.
The Dark Knight was momentarily taken aback, then chuckled softly.
“Actually, the reason I’m being chased is quite laughable… I’ll tell you about it next time. I don’t have much time left.
What I need from you is to transport an item for me. It’s in Sunflower City at the main city of the Flower State. After you get it, covertly deliver it to the ruins just outside Amber City in the Gem State.”
“What is the item?”
Chen Lun asked.
The Dark Knight handed him a stone coin engraved with some patterns, an object that recorded the current-world anchor points of Sunflower City.
After Chen Lun took it, the Dark Knight uttered two words:
“Coffin.”
He added:
“This body of mine won’t last much longer. My own body lies in that coffin in Sunflower City… Remember, don’t travel directly through the Spirit World when going between the two cities. There will be elite Transcendent squads lying in ambush at the edge of the city, in the Spirit World.”

“I understand, Mr. Bales,”
Chen Lun accepted the mission, nodding his head in acknowledgment.
The Dark Knight responded wearily and then sat back down against the large tombstone.
He held onto his sword, his head bowed, and looked as if he might have fallen asleep.

When Chen Lun returned to the real world, he found himself not at Jack Manor but in a suburb of Amber City.
Seeing this, he had no choice but to manifest wings and flap back toward the city.
Luckily, the speed of [Variegated Wings] was much faster than the former [Crow Feather], more than twice as fast. When he flew at high altitudes, there was even a faint screeching sound.
He quickly arrived at the city gates and joined the throng of people to enter.
The plague seemed to be getting worse; there were many guards at the gates, checking those who entered, and most of the underclass who used to live outside the city were nowhere to be seen.
Perhaps they had left under the pressure of survival, or maybe they had died of the plague and silently disappeared from the world.
Chen Lun sighed inwardly and entered the city.
He took a cab temporarily and spent forty Copper Kros to be taken back to Jack Manor in the Inner City District.
An hour later.
When passing a commercial street, Chen Lun suddenly remembered something.
There were many hometown dishes he yearned for but lacked special seasonings; Floey was “hard-pressed for lack of rice,” and Connie had also been unable to buy them.
‘I remember there is a grocery store here, affiliated with the Silver Dragon Trade Association. They have wide connections, and inside I should be able to find something like soy sauce… It would be even better if there were spices like cinnamon and star anise.’
Chen Lun couldn’t help but think, without these, the dishes always lacked a certain charm.
He signaled the carriage to stop, then got off by himself.
At a glance, Chen Lun quickly identified his target. Not far ahead to the left, there was a shop named “Vanodi’s Grocery,” with a small silver dragon head engraved on the side of the signboard.
He went straight in.
The grocery store was large, equivalent to a supermarket, but Chen Lun walked past several shelves without finding the seasonings he wanted.
Reluctantly, with the mentality of “better not to leave empty-handed,” he decided to buy some gifts for Floey on the way back.
Chen Lun found the shelf with candies and chocolates and picked out two boxes of dark chocolate.
‘This dark chocolate has zero sugar content; Floey should like it.’
He thought to himself with a light smile.
Just as Chen Lun was about to leave, he spotted an old woman with a stooped back next to him, hesitating over a row of chocolates.
“Too expensive…”
the old woman murmured to herself.
Chen Lun then subconsciously looked at the price tag; regular chocolate was priced at about 2 Silver Ducats per box, while the dark chocolate he held was even more expensive, at 7 Silver Ducats and 35 Copper Kros.
He shook his head slightly; indeed, this was not affordable for the lower class, but being in the Inner City District, ordinary residents should find it acceptable.
“Are you from out of town?”
Chen Lun casually asked.
It seemed the old woman only then perceived the tall, handsome young man standing beside her. She looked up in surprise, then smiled faintly, her cheeks lined with deep wrinkles.
“Yes… I came to visit relatives and wanted to buy some gifts.”
She was dressed in a simple yet clean black attire; a commonplace purple chrysanthemum was tucked at the border of her draped clothes and white hair.
She didn’t look wealthy.
Chen Lun, upon seeing the elderly lady, kindly took a few boxes of beautifully wrapped chocolates and gestured:
“Let me pay for these for you.”
“Oh, that’s too expensive, I can’t accept…”
The elderly lady seemed very surprised and kept waving her hands in refusal.
Chen Lun flashed his signature smile, didn’t insist, but then suddenly asked:
“Madam, forgive the intrusion, may I ask your age?”
The elderly lady had an easy-going personality and wasn’t offended; instead, she spoke softly:
“I am 81 years old, not far from death.”
Chen Lun shook his head gently with a sense of poignancy.
“It’s completely unnoticeable; if you hadn’t told me, I would have thought you were 18 this year.”
The remark amused the elderly lady, prompting her to chuckle softly.
Chen Lun continued:
“Your smile is beautiful and it has brightened my day. I think that definitely deserves a gift.”
He once again offered the boxes of chocolate he held to the elderly lady.
She hesitated for a moment, but finally said:
“You’re a kind young man, thank you.”
After accepting the chocolates, she put most of them back on the shelf, keeping only one box of sugar-free dark chocolate, the same kind Chen Lun was buying for Floey.
After paying,
the elderly lady stopped Chen Lun at the door of the grocery store as he was about to leave. She took the initiative to give him a hug and then said:
“Young man, may Moonlight’s Blessing be upon you… This city, despite its prosperity, has too few kind-hearted people.”
Chen Lun chuckled and responded lightly:
“You remind me of my grandmother, very warm, and I wish you health and safety on your journey.”
The elderly lady seemed very touched and asked:
“Please tell me the name of your grandmother so that every Sunday on the Moon Goddess’s worship days, I can pray for her and wish her well on your behalf.”
Chen Lun, having no grandmother in this world, simply blurted out a fabricated name:
“Her name is Margaret.”

Nightfall.
Floey received the gift from Chen Lun.
She was delighted to unwrap the paper packaging and then sniffed the dark chocolate with some curiosity.
“What’s this?”
“Chocolate,”
Chen Lun explained.
Floey seemed never to have tasted chocolate before and appeared quite expectant.
She gently bit off a corner of the chocolate bar with her mouth.
Crack.
Chen Lun watched her quietly, her fair cheeks puffing out slightly as if she was savoring the taste in her mouth.
“It’s delicious, I quite like it,”
Floey said with a smile.
“Don’t find it bitter?”
Chen Lun asked.
Floey shook her head, then a bit sheepishly nodded slightly.
“Yes, a little bit.”
Chen Lun couldn’t help but chuckle a few times, finding Floey’s behavior inexplicably cute.
“Chocolate is supposed to be sweet, but it seems you don’t like sweet things, so I bought this sugar-free kind for you.”
Floey nodded as if she somewhat understood.
“I like this kind.”
“That’s good to hear… I’ll bring you some more next time,”
Chen Lun said.
Floey carefully put the unfinished chocolate back into the tin foil wrapper and stored away both boxes.
After they parted, Chen Lun returned to his room.
He briefly contemplated his next moves and decided to do something else on the way to Sunflower City.
‘Before the chaos truly begins, it’s best to remove the hidden threats around Amber City…’
Chen Lun took out the high-level token of the Silver Dragon Trade Association and flicked a silver coin.
As the central part of the silver coin spun rapidly, invisible sound waves reached the Spirit World, and soon, a deep blue crack appeared, followed by a pig’s head popping out from beneath Chen Lun’s feet.
Chen Lun looked at this scamming doll that changed its skin every time, twitched the corner of his mouth, and then communicated with it using “Beast Speech,” entrusting it with a task.
He sent the scamming doll to buy intelligence on the existing branches of the Red Apple Church around Amber City at the current stage.
The pig’s head gave an understanding look, nodded seriously, and burrowed back in.
Chen Lun sat on a chair, fingers tapping the armrest lightly, his eyes revealing deep thought.
‘With so much time passed, the players should have grown significantly; it’s about time to release the Circus’s new products, update their equipment… and take them to strike against the Red Apple Church as a warm-up for adapting to the pace of future game updates.’
He was satisfied with this plan.
‘Where could they find such a dedicated guide as me… I’m just too noble, too extraordinary.’

The next evening,
Floey awoke from her sleep.
After getting up and freshening herself up in the washroom, she walked eagerly to the table, pulled open the drawer, and took out the chocolate Chen Lun had bought for her the night before.
To her surprise, though, where there were originally two boxes, an extra one had mysteriously appeared.
Floey paused for a few seconds, then felt a warm feeling inside.
She thought that Chen Lun must have learned that she liked it and bought an additional box, secretly placing it in her drawer.
