Chapter Ch35.2 - I’ve got this Ancestor’s back (6)
Lu Deng lay in the bedroom until the evening until he finally decided to go to the study to have a look.
After holding him to take a bath and then sending him back to the bedroom, the pureblood ancestor shut himself into the study without a word and has yet to come out.
Although there wouldn’t be any grave consequences even if the vampire takes the matter too hard, it would still be difficult for Lu Deng to relax if he doesn’t take a look himself.
The system was still in its small black room polishing a cross. Lu Deng’s lips ticked up silently. Better just to leave the system to it. He put on his clothes and walked out of the bedroom.
He knocked lightly on the study room door. Unexpectedly, there was a sudden fit of choked coughing.
Lu Deng was startled slightly. Real concern rose in his heart. He raising his hand to the edge of the door. “Gu Ting?”
“…I’m here, wait a moment.”
It took a moment for his reply to echo from the room. His voice seemed particularly hoarse. Lu Deng’s brows furrowed even deeper. He couldn’t get the system to help him see what was going on inside so he was left with no option but to remain by the door, listening to the strange sounds from inside. The sound of footsteps quickly approached the door.
With a creak, the door was opened.
There didn’t seem to be much that was strange with Gu Ting. He simply stretched his arms and took him against his bosom. He gently rubbed his forehead. “Did you sleep well?”
Without the other by his side, even when he does sleep, he’s only ever half-asleep. After a short spell, he would wake with a start, making it difficult to truly sleep well.
Within the survival rules that have long been engraved into his basic data, silence was the law of survival. Revealing one’s own weaknesses was often fatal.
Lu Deng pursed his lips and met the concern in Gu Ting’s eyes. His brows smoothened out. He shook his head and hugged him. He then lowered his head against the other’s cool neck. “&#k2026;you weren’t there.”
The warning for rule violation transformed into instinctual unease that soared into his mind. However, it was stopped by a higher-level command statement. There was a revision in the interception network of his basic dataset and a new name was added.
He can say it.
If it’s to him then he can say it.
The fluctuation of mental power caused Gu Ting’s heart to stir a bit. He lowered his head to look at the slightly drooping eyelashes of the human youth. He held his hands together and lowered his head to them. “It won’t happen in the future.”
Smiling in his arms, Lu Deng closed his eyes and met the cool kiss, handing his body over to the other. Gu Ting hugged him firmly and they sat down on the sofa together. He slowly patted his back but it seemed that he still had something on his mind.
Lu Deng leaned on his chest for a while and then looked up at him. “The bottle thing—”
After all, it was he himself who took the initiative to purchase the baby bottle. Lu Deng wanted to apologize, but Gu Ting silenced him with a kiss, blocking the rest of his words. Gu Ting smiled helplessly. “It’s not because of that…”
Seeing the human youth standing in front of him, he remembered how Lu Huaiye couldn’t stop shivering, wanting to snuggle deeper into his arms and yet he was getting colder and colder.
The way it was done wasn’t important. What mattered was how much blood Lu Huaiye lost for him.
The body in his arms moved. Gu Ting lowered his head. A warm breath came near, gently releasing the knit of his brows.
Gu Ting let him spread flat the furrows from his brows. He lowered his head and snuggled against the warm cheek of the person in his arms. He held that hand for a moment and then raised his hand to pull at his sleeves.
His right hand was both his dominant hand and the one where the communication device was implanted. If Lu Huaiye wanted to get some blood for him, the left wrist would have been the most convenient.
The wound was almost completely healed. Only the last one was left as a pale mark. Lu Deng instinctively tried to block him but Gu Ting grabbed his hand and rolled up his cuffs to checked it carefully, touching the pale mark with his fingertips.
Just as he was about to open his mouth, the person in his arms had already guessed his question and replied in advance. “It doesn’t hurt.”
Lu Deng really wasn’t in any pain. He had deliberately used the drunken stargrass, which simultaneously caused the site of the wound to become numb. Basically he hadn’t felt anything at all. If there hadn’t been so much wasted blood, there wouldn’t have been anything the matter at all.
Gu Ting stroked the scar on his wrist that had yet to clear. As before, he lowered his head and kissed it, fumbling to intertwine their fingers. He said softly, “I will be going out on a long-distance trip. Will you go with me?”
No matter how little blood he sucks, even if it really doesn’t hurt, he will still feel distressed.
He knew the location of an altar, as long as he went there to supplement his strength, even if there were any special circumstances arose, he wouldn’t need to let Lu Huaiye get injured for him.
Lu Deng was held by him and his heart suddenly stirred.
The plot still reached this strategic pass. Once Gu Ting boarded the suspended pleasure boat to head for the altar, he would encounter that berserk superpowered being. He would force his powers to burst in order to protect the passengers and in doing so, put himself in danger.
His original intention had been to not let Gu Ting board the boat at all but the passengers on that boat were innocent, after all. Without this plot, he was afraid they would meet their demise in this incident.
It doesn’t matter even if he does go. Lu Deng can figure out a way to find that superpowered person and control the situation beforehand. Even if, due to the plot’s inertia, it wasn’t possible to prevent the situation from escalating up to that point, at least, he could stand in front of Gu Ting and serve as his shield.
There will be a way.
After straightening out his thoughts in his heart, Lu Deng raised his eyes and nodded. “Okay.”
Seeing him respond in agreement, a smile finally appeared in Gu Ting’s eyes. He grasped his hand. “I made you some stewed pigeon. I heard it can held to replenish blood. It’s still cooking. I don’t know if you’d like to eat it…will you try it?”
He hadn’t known that the other could even learn to cook despite his vampire identity. Lu Deng had originally planned to cook noodles for himself. Hearing this, his eyes brightened a bit. He nodded and got up, waiting for him so that they could go to the kitchen together.
Gu Ting smiled and got up with him. He reached out with his hands to fix his clothes for him, but the bandage faintly peeking from under the other’s cuff suddenly attracted Lu Deng’s attention.
When he had opened the door, Gu Ting had gone to hug him. That hand had always been behind his back and he hadn’t noticed when it had actually been wrapped in a bandage.
“It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it.”
Perceiving his gaze, Gu Ting’s expression went slightly stiff and he raised his hand to block it. But Lu Deng had already pulled his arm. The blade of an iron thorn grass flashed between his fingers and cut away the hastily wrapped bandage around his arm.
A row of neat bite marks were lined on his arm, from deep ones to shallow ones. And unexpectedly, to the side, they were also marked with the data of the bite strength and angle using a very fine marker. The bottom one had already begun to show signs of healing.
