Chapter 100: Battling before the angel.
He was smart enough to realise that ones combat power increased far more quickly with actual experience.
Emily watched her father from the corner of her eye, as if able to notice his worries, she could tell at a glance that non of the men here wished to exchange swords with him.
" Papa, why don’t I help you?" The little girl gathered her courage and said with a determined look.
" You want to learn swordsmanship?" He asked, clearly bewildered. Was there nothing she wouldn’t learn?
Emily shook her head. " No, I mean I do, but not now. Why not I help daddy find someone to train with."
" Ah..that.." Lucuis wanted to refuse her but seeing the eager look on her face to help, he let out a reluctant sigh and nodded his head.
" Alright, go ahead." He smiled lightly.
"Yes!" Emily said enthusiasticly before going off to find someone.
Lucuis’s found something to sit on and watched from a distance, but deep down he really didn’t want to see her hopes crushed when no one agreed.

" Will you please spar with my father?" Emily asked a tall and gaunt guard who was holding a spear.
" Pardon?" The guard blinked, not understanding why the little one approached him.
" My daddy doesn’t have anyone to spar with, can you please help him?" Emily’s cute big eyes stared at the man with a pleading expression.
The man was taken aback but when he saw the person she was pointing at in the distance, he sucked in a breath of cold air and shrinked.
" I’m sorry little one, but I just happen to be feeling under the weather, I’m sure you wouldn’t want the young master to catch a sickness right?" He says nervously, already skirting off before Emily could say another word.
Emily’s shoulders dropped right after but she forced a smile on her face the next moment and went to ask the next person. She was well aware that it would be hard to get someone to willingly spare with him but that didn’t stop her from trying.
And that she did. Again.
" Could you please spare a moment to–"
" Umm I think it’s about time I returned to my shift." A guard coughed before running off.
And Again.
" Might you–"
" What’s that dear? I’m sorry but your gonna have to speak up." Another denied.
And Again.

The more Lucuis watched, the more his gloomy began turning to displeasure, seeing her going about the large Training grounds all on her own, working tirelessly for him only to be rejected time and time again.
Su who stood next to him had a slightly pale expression became from this close, she could feel the dark aura slowly permeating from him. Unbeknownst to her, the necklace around his neck was gradually absorbing this dark aura as well.
" Well aren’t you all a bunch of lazy sewer rats." An angry voice suddenly spoke just as Lucuis was about to stand up.
All eyes turned towards the entrance of the training grounds where the head guard could be seen.
" Can’t you all see how tired this young lass is, yet non of you would even step up to help her poor father." He said in an admonishing tone that had some guards shrinking backwards.
" Just who is her father by the way. I thought I trained you all to be comrades, don’t tell me I wasted all that time only for you all to suddenly develop this level of stigmatism."
" Sir... That’s."
" What? Got something to say?!" The head guard instantly silenced the guard who’d just tried to speak up. He then let out a breath and approached Emily before squatting Infront of her.
" Don’t you worry young lass, these cowards are nothing but mere rodents who fear to face your father so don’t take it to heart. If they won’t fight him, then let me." He said with a charming smile which was unlike someone his age.
" Really?" Emily blinked her eyes, newfound anticipation growing within her.
" Of course." He said with a smile, Emily happily thanked him before running over to Lucuis’s side.
" Daddy, I finally did it!" Emily said with a smile. Lucuis’s negative emotions quickly dispersed upon her arrival, he smiled a little before giving her a soft pat on the head.
" You sure did, sweetheart." He said warmly.
" What in tarnation...." Rugbeard stared in disbelief. It was now that he actually noticed Lucuis and only then did he realise why the guards were so against sparing with the little lasses father.
How was he supposed to know that her father was non other than the ruthless young master?! He thought to himself.
But recalling his position, he calmed himself before placing his hand on his swords sheath.
" So, are you going to sit there all day, or are you going to make this little angels efforts worth it." Rugbeard said. First of all, he’d spare with the young master, as for the rest.
’ I’ll have to figure it out later.’ he said to himself.
" I was about to say the exact same thing." Lucuis said with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. His eyes briefly glanced at all the other guards for a moment, causing them all to gulp down in fear. The meaning was as clear as day, he would definitely remember what had occured here today.
" Are you always one to talk so much during a battle." Joked Rugbeard, trying to lighten the mood and save his mens asses.
At the same time, they all formed a wide encirclement around the two. Su took Emily out of the encirclement so the both of them could safely watch from a distance.
" Depends on who I’m fighting." Lucuis said back with a smile, causing Rugbeards eyebrows to twitch.
’ This bastards still as cocky as ever.’ he said to himself.
" Best two out of three then." Rugbeard said.
As the sun’s rays glistened off his bald scalp, he unsheathed his blade and entered a fighting stance.
Lucuis did the same, the both of them began circling each other, their sharp gazes focused on one another.
