Chapter 102: Father is amazing.

Rugbeard stared at the drop of blood on the dirt, then at Lucuis. A slow, toothy grin spread across his face.

" Hah, point taken." Rugbeard nodded lightly before sheating his own blade as well.

He watched Lucuis return to the little ones side.

" Daddy that was incredible." Emily embraced him without hesitation and praised his stunning display.

" You’ve improved far more than I expected young master." Su did as well, though not as enthusiasticly.

" Can I learn swordsmanship too daddy?" Said Emily in a sweet yet innocent tone. One which directly plucked at Lucuis’s heart strings.

" That..." Lucuis didn’t know what to say, to think she’d be interested in such a thing after watching his match.

" I’m afraid I’ll have to discuss it with your mother first, alright sweetheart." Lucuis lifted her into his arms and said.

" No... Can we not?" The little one poured puffing up her cheeks, her eyes glistening while she pleaded.

Lucuis chuckled while the three of them left the training grounds. " I’m afraid it’s only fair my dear. Wouldn’t your mom be upset if she learned you did such a thing without telling her first? You wouldn’t want mother to think your not thinking of her anymore, would you now?"

" Fine... Your right." She reluctantly gave in to him. Seeing this made him relieved.

Afterwards, the trio had a harmonious lunch, which Lucuis hadn’t had in awhile. Throughout the moment, for once, he felt like he didn’t want it to end, to think having the little angel treat him as a parent would get that addicting.

The following day, Leo sent someone to inform him that they’d be leaving for the academy in a few days time. He also had the servant inform him that he’d already taken care of the acceptance fee for everyone including him, to which Lucuis merely chuckled.

This brother of his sure hated to owe him one it seemed.

The day after, Lucuis continued his daily pattern but when it came time to practice his swordsmanship, he politely asked Rugbeard to begin teaching her a bit of swordsmanship upon his departure.

His actions surprised both Rugbeard and Emily since he’d already avoided the matter all together, she had never expected him to agree with it instead.

After the night earlier, Lucuis had given it some thought and believed it’d be best to have her around someone he could trust while he was away, besides Su of course. Being the head guard, he felt reassured having her as her new teacher.

While he’d normally wouldn’t take such a thing to heart, Rugbeard who’d already grown fond of the little one, gave in under her constant pleading.

Lucuis also gathered quite a huge amount of his savings and gave Su a certain portion of it to use and initiate a plan he had in mind, he feared that going to the academy would eventually stir some unexpected situations his way so this was his way of preparing beforehand. Which was why he conducted this plan ...a plan he had in mind to secure alternative resources and safe houses, should the family’s support ever be withdrawn.

The night of that same day, a black cat emerged on his window ledge with a package wrapped around it’s back. Having expected Silvia to make do on her word, Lucuis took the parcel before the black cat leaped off into the night, within the package was the items he’d requested from her, 3 necklaces which he believed would be able to do as they had discussed.

Day after day went by like that, each time he came to practice, Rugbeard would teach him more and more from their sparring sessions. Not only sparing but he also made sure to use the rest of his time wisely, like reading more to gather more vital information he would need later on.

Though he refrained from using the grimore due to his daughter’s presence, he didn’t want to cause any sort of incident that would put her in danger.

While the days passed, all those within the manor began having different views towards him. His mother for one grew more and more unsettled. She’d thought this act of his to adopt a supernatural was merely some sort of phrase but the more she saw, the more conflicted she became, wondering to herself when she’d wake up from this nightmare.

Lily and Lavender didn’t try to bring up the matter anymore since non of them dared to upset their big brother. Leo actually took a liking to the little one himself, especially when she addressed him as uncle. The expression on his face back then could only be described as blissful. Although he made sure to quickly hide it away, afraid of his half brother seeing. While Lucuis did see, he decided to be merciful and let his brother off just that once.

Lancelot on the other hand was silent towards the whole matter. Even during dinning time, he made no effort to ridicule nor congratulate Lucuis, to which he was already used to since that was how he’d been treated by him most of his life.

Occasionally, lily would come bearing gifts for the little one. To which Lucuis was curious towards, of course the thought of her trying to get into his good graces so he wouldn’t spill the beans, didn’t cross his mind. Emily who was the one who benefited the most developed a tendancy to cling to this aunt of hers, Causing lily to not know whether to be glad or depressed.

Lucuis arranged for a tutor to come to the mansion while he was away, to help her further her education. At first, Emily was against it, but after he convinced her that a proper lady of the house should be able to inspire awe and reverence in the eyes of their guests, she reluctantly agreed, though very reluctant. Lucuis naturally found her reaction back then to be quite amusing, a memory he promised to cherish with his heart.

Eventually, the due day was finally upon them.
