John Wicked: Endlessly Evolving My Pet Monsters-Chapter 18: Evolution & Rank Up
Chapter 18 - Evolution & Rank Up
'So, how do I add Geno Points into Monsters?'
You can access a mysterious space where things related to the Rune of New Beginning are situated. Access it by feeling and then focusing on the rune's power. You can move things inside with your thoughts, and by having physical contact with your Pets, you can add the desired Geno Points to them.]
'Oh, nice.'
John could always feel that distinct power belonging to Rune of the New Beginning in him, so he focused and soon accessed the so-called mysterious space.
It was a white space with three sections.
When he curiously focused on the section with a myriad of glowing motes, he suddenly entered that section and saw it was way bigger.
'So the mysterious space has further space boxes in it? This one seems to be the one with all the Geno Points stored—the Genetic Pocket.'
John exited and looked at the second section. This mysterious space had hazy borders separating the two sections from each other.
The second section didn't have anything except for a giant mysterious symbol with eccentric black and other dark-colored patterns.
When he tried to access it, he got a notification.
[Reach Silver-rank to Unlock it.]
The third section was also empty, but it was accessible. Basically, it was the storage space that he couldn't use. Alfred's egg was in there, but he couldn't put things outside in here.
'How useless.'
It's not useless. You are not strong enough to maintain this internal spatial storage. Reach Silver-rank and you can store things inside. The stronger you grow, the more the storage space.]
'I see.'
Leaving it aside, John went back into the Genetic Pocket.
With just a thought, he redirected 20 Geno points of Ice Flower Turtle and 20 Geno Points of Blaze Blue Fish, infusing them into Alfred, who had lain down beside him.
"This is the last one, buddy. Open your mouth."
Alfred opened his mouth, and John grabbed the third fruit he had stored within a crude wooden box in the shack and fed it to the hound.
As if knowing what was happening due to acquired genetic information, Alfred got up and howled loudly before sparkling colorful energy, mainly blue, black, purple, and dark orange, began to swirl around Alfred and soon solidified him into a sparkling sleek cocoon with mysterious designs over it.
John's eyes shone. Alfred was going to evolve from Ravenous Hound to Netherlord Glassblaze Lupine!
He didn't know anything about the evolved version, but just the name of the evolved form was invoking power!
'Now, I have to wait. According to what I've read, Bronze-rank Monsters with peaked growth don't take more than a day to finish the evolution process and rank up.'
John looked at his wristband and checked the time.
8:14 a.m. | Day 2 of Thalren Month | Year 2843.
This world had only six months total, with each month having sixty days, but each day still had 24 hours, the same as Earth.
'Hmm, I guess I'll train Pymon today and find the third resource once he is done making love to his wife.'
John put Alfred's cocoon into his soul space, as it wasn't wise to keep it outside.
He then left the shack and sat down in meditation, training for the risky move he was going to make tomorrow.
Usually, once a Tamer gets their Soul Core to 100, making it pristine white, it is infused with the energy of 100 Bronze Essence Coins and 10 Silver Essence Coins. This would break the Soul Core and trigger its evolution with the burst of spirit energy acquired from the coins.
Afterward, it was a natural process of the soul core turning into a Soul Crystal.
It was utterly easy to reach Silver-rank from Bronze-rank, but just as hard to reach Gold-rank from Silver-rank, and as one went higher in rank, the difficulty and resource requirement would get steeper.
John didn't have the money to even rank up to Silver-rank Tamer, but there was another wildly popular method to rank up.
If a Bronze-rank tamer had a Pet Monster of Silver-rank, the tamer could use that Pet's soul energy, infusing it into their Soul Core and triggering the evolution.
However, John didn't plan to do that because there was one more method. It was unorthodox, painful, and dangerous, and not worth it for most of the people. This method was only usable for Bronze-rank Tamers, so it didn't have any practicality in further ranks.
John only knew this method because that was how the first ever Tamers ranked up to Silver rank, and he had read it in the book.
This method involved ingesting two Bronze-rank resources and one Silver-rank resource.
If Bronze-rank Tamers ingest such things and do nothing, they will die 100%.
Bronze-rank Tamers didn't have powerful enough bodies to withstand such potent and attributed spirit energies.
Even if it was non-attributed spirit energy, its potency was also dangerous enough to kill them.

However, there was one way to prevent death, and that required a great deal of pain endurance, mental fortitude, and focus to remain conscious to keep the energies in control.
After ingesting those three resources, John would have to first endure the pain and keep his mind away from it to focus on the energy.
He would have to use his 100 soul energy and spend it in a proper amount to keep the wild spirit energies from the resources in control and redirect it to his soul core.
If he failed to keep it in control, it would greatly damage his body and shatter his soul core.
Soul Core has to get shattered, but from the inside after infusing the energies. If it were shattered by an external attack of the energies, he would have to start all over, and he would lose his soul space to keep the pets inside.
Not to mention that failure meant he would also get injured, quite critically at that.
So he had to keep the energies of resources in control and redirect them within his soul core by spending 100 soul energy.
If he ran out of 100 soul energy before the process was done, he would fail.
Fortunately, that was the reason why he wanted Alfred to evolve and rank up first.
Silver-rank Pet Monsters can exchange soul energies with their Tamers, so he at least wouldn't run out of soul energy.
The only thing he needed to focus on was the most important task—Control. Making sure that he controlled the energies of the resources properly with his soul energy.
And that was why he was meditating with soul energy threads within his body, increasing his control and exertion over soul energy by doing various threading activities.
