John Wicked: Endlessly Evolving My Pet Monsters-Chapter 27: Five Ruling Sects
Chapter 27 - Five Ruling Sects
But before beginning the training, John went to the crude cage in which the Windfury Ape was imprisoned under the watchful eyes of Alfred.
He made a small cut on the Ape with Alfred's claw and fed it an enchanted leaf, but the immunity was still up, so the injury didn't heal.
"Ooo..." the Ape cried out and sat down obediently after seeing it wasn't healed.
The Ape knew it would be freed later, so it could only stay obedient in the cage.
Meanwhile, John and Alfred began physical training.
Now that John had reached Silver-rank Soul Crystal of 200 power level, he could maintain his Soul Synergy for two minutes.
An increase of every 100 lengthened the duration of Soul Synergy by a minute, and his Soul Synergy proficiency was maxed due to the deep bond between him and Alfred, so he also gained a 100% boost from Alfred.
John and Alfred began fighting at full power, their figures moving faster than cheetahs, nimble as cats, and as strong as lions.
They fought without using skills to improve movement coordination and combat senses. Just a pure physical fight.
Yuna returned with Doku, Rayray, and Pymon just in time to watch them, and her eyes couldn't help but widen.
John had trained himself, but reborn Alfred had quite an arsenal of combat ability given to him by Chuthulos. It was one hell of a talented dawg, so despite having higher stats than Alfred during Soul Synergy, John got hit more than he managed to hit Alfred.
But that also made John improve himself.
...
It was still dark, but everyone was hungry just in time. While John emptied his bowels away in the wooden toilet cabin at the end of the camp, Yuna prepared the meat to cook.
Rayray was resting on the ground near Alfred. Pymon and Doku, the father and son, were flying around playing while the mother, Starry, was tending to her other smaller kids who hadn't grown yet.
"I've made Doku reach Prime-stage, and there's nothing more for us to do here, so let's leave tomorrow when our wristband gets storage function to store this camp," Yuna said before taking a bite.
"Mhmm," John nodded as he chewed. "Are you going to break through to Silver-rank today?"
"Yeah," Yuna nodded and glanced at Rayray. "I can rank up Rayray after eating, so I'll break through after that."
"So you don't want to evolve it yet?" John blinked. Looking at Rayray, he checked the Sun Fox's Evolution Pathways again.
'Hmmm...the 20% success rate of that evolution path might increase if her Sun Fox ranks up without evolving.'
"I want to evolve it, but not yet. One of the strongest evolution paths of Sun Fox is Auric Sunveil Fox, but the method to evolve it is only possible once a Sun Fox reaches Gold-rank."
"Auric Sunveil Fox?" John raised his eyebrows, his eyes looking at the evolution pathways.
'There is a way to evolve it into Auric Sunveil Fox right now, but I guess it's yet to be discovered, or the information is controlled.'
But John could see a better option than the Auric Sunveil Fox in the list of evolution paths of Yuna's Sun Fox.
Reaching Silver-rank also increased his Evolution Pathways skill a bit as he got more details.
[Sun Fox—Rayray's Possible Evolution Pathways]
1. Infernal Blaze Fox / Emperor-rank Potential / 100% success rate.
2. Fallen Redsun Fox / King-rank Potential / 100% success rate.
3. Auric Sunveil Fox / Sovereign-rank Potential / 100% success rate.
4. Yin-Yang Astral Fox / Legendary-rank Potential / 20% success rate.
The potential rank directly indicates the limit of a species.
For instance, Sun Fox could only remain as Sun Fox until Gold-rank. If Yuna didn't direct its evolution towards a certain pathway after her Sun Fox reached Gold-rank, the Sun Fox would automatically evolve randomly upon ranking up to King-rank.
Just like that, Fallen Redsun Fox would remain Fallen Redsun Fox until it reached King-rank.
So each Monster would automatically evolve after ranking up to reach the full potential of their current species. Without Tamers, they'd need more time because stronger Monsters had more requirements to fulfill and development to achieve.
Ravenous Hound's limit was also Gold-rank, but John evolved Alfred early by directing his evolution, turning him into a Netherlord Glassblaze Lupine with the potential to reach Sovereign-rank.
Of course, he planned to evolve Alfred once he found an evolution path's potential going higher than Legendary, which would definitely appear as Alfred reached higher ranks.
"Well, if you can find me when your Sun Fox reaches Gold-rank, I'll help you evolve it to a better evolution pathway than Auric Sunveil Fox."
Hearing John's words, Yuna paused her chewing and looked at him.
*Stare*
A sudden silence descended for a few seconds.
"What?" John blinked.
Yuna continued her chewing and gulped it down before she said with a nod. "I'm fairly sure you will be selected by one of the five sects. If we are in the same sect, well and good, but even if we aren't, no worries. We can still remain in contact."
"Five?" John raised his eyebrows. "Aren't there four?"
"There are five, but most people of the four regions don't know about them since they don't have branches like the other four. Spiritveil Sect, Blazebound Sect, Stormjade Pavilion, Skyban Sect, and the fifth one...Ouroboros Hall."
"Interesting. Well, I also want to go to Heavenrend Region as soon as possible," John grinned. "I've only heard good things about it."
Yuna smiled. "Whatever you heard is nothing compared to the reality. You will feel like you've arrived in a different world."
"Oh? I am more interested now. I wonder if the sect branch that accepts me will send me to their headquarters?"

"You can move there once you reach Gold-rank. I have only visited a city in Heavenrend Region once when I went to Spiritveil Sect's headquarters with my father. The big buildings and advanced tech there blew me away. People live a high-class lifestyle there, but there's no lack of peasants because that's what we are considered there," Lily said with a wry smile.
"But the law of power works the same, right?" John's eyes glinted.
"That's for sure. If you are powerful, then you're good. Except that you can't get powerful without support from the five ruling sects."
"Eh? Why?" John tilted his head. "Is it because they control the Monster Geno Arts?"
Yuna ate the last piece of her barbecue before she nodded and said, "Yep. Monster Geno Arts are of vital importance for Tamers to get stronger. The ones they give out to smaller sects are weaker versions, so they will always remain weaker than them."
"But the ones they have are stronger and allow for faster progression, so the five ruling sects can continue to rule over this continent."
"Why don't the Tamers who learned the five ruling sect's Monster Geno Arts spread the methods to others secretly?" John raised his eyebrows.
"I've asked the same thing to my father," Yuna dryly chuckled. "And the answer I got made me fearful of them. It was a short answer. My father said that they could tell if anyone not part of their sect trains in their Monster Geno Art, and once discovered, they kill them without mercy."
"What?" John was startled.
"Yep. It's widespread knowledge, but you just don't know since you've only read stuff and haven't been to the world of tamers yet. But you'll soon find out how brutal this world is," Yuna sighed, but her fists clenched as she added. "But we can get powerful using them, so we must enter one of the five ruling sects and stay here."
"Wait, you said they also expel their members but don't they still possess their Monster Geno Arts?" John confusedly asked. "What happens to them?"
"Of course, they forcefully remove the Monster Geno Art's progress," Yuna said with a weak smile. "You don't know how Monster Geno Arts works, right?"
John shook his head, his eyes blinking in curiosity as he said, "Tell me."
Yuna nodded. "In the next Chapter."
