John Wicked: Endlessly Evolving My Pet Monsters-Chapter 3: Alfred
Chapter 3 - Alfred
The airships soon arrived at the large empty ground outside the forest and landed in the parking space with other ships.
Students emerged from their compounds while following instructions, getting a wristband as they exited.
The wristband would be used to monitor their vital status and also a call for help from the students.
One just needed to infuse their soul energy in it, and it would send them out.
Many smaller sects and people of four ruling sects would come to observe the students, but not until the 5th day, because anyone who couldn't survive for five days wasn't worth watching in their eyes.
Moreover, Yuna's plan fell through before it could begin.
Turned out that this year, they wouldn't let students choose the starting location.
Everyone would be randomly teleported in the vast forest of Paladon.
"This is bummer...but we can still try, right?" Yuna said as she looked at John. "We can move to the Silver Hill Spring area and meet there eventually."
John rolled his eyes. "What if one of us is very far from the Silver Hill Spring area? It would take one-day minimum and two days of pure walking to reach there unless we are close to the area. Don't forget we also have to survive and fight other monsters, not just move."
"Anyway, we can still head there and eventually meet there," John added. "Maybe if we can unlock 3rd space by the time we reach there, we can do it."
Yuna's eyes lit up as she smiled, "Thanks. But I still hope you get lucky and get transported there when it's time."
"It's time," John said as he looked at the sunny sky.
The 10-day Survival Trial was about to start as it was almost 9 A.M now.
And indeed, a powerful and deep voice reverberated in the ground where thousands of students stood.
"Young aspiring Tamers. It is time!"
The voice came from a middle-aged man with a faint smile who floated in the sky with featured black wings coming out of his back, with almost eight meters of wingspan.
After a short speech of motivation, the man said, "Without further ado, you all will randomly appear in the forest! I hope you have trained yourself well and can survive to prove your worth!"
"Good luck."
In the next second, all students' wristbands flickered before they vanished.
A massive barrier also covered the forest's 100-kilometer area, creating a safe ground for students to prevent stronger monsters from entering or preventing them from entering dangerous areas.
John saw the scenery changing instantly and found himself at a small river stream, which was one of many going through this forest towards the deeper east, meeting the ocean.
Looking around, he saw trees and plants with water and wind aura, and on top of this river stream, John concluded he was somewhere between Verdant Canopy and Moonlit Lagoon.
'Silver Hill Spring is just north of Verdant Canopy. It looks like I'm not too far from it.
John blinked. 'But I have to cross this river stream to get the Silver Hill Spring.'
Arriving at the riverbank of this stream that was 11 feet wide, there was no way he could jump over it.
As for going into the water? Hell no. There were aquatic monsters inside, and they would jump on him to eat him the moment he entered inside.
But he wasn't in a hurry!
Rubbing his palms, he distanced himself from the river and walked towards the nearest tree before taking out a mysterious egg!
'Alfred, it's time to wake up.'
John prickled his thumb and dropped a bit of his blood on the egg, and suddenly, the patterns on it glowed before a window appeared in his mind.
[Please choose Alfred's stating evolution]
1. Arctic Howler / Ice - Wind.
2. Hellfang Wolf / Fire - Metal.
3. Ravenous Hound / Blood - Dark.
'Ravenous Hound it is!' John selected the third option without racking his brains too much. He liked that, so he chose that.
*Crack*
Soon, the egg cracked and a cute mouth emerged from the broken shell before.

The cute puppy who had black and white fur emerged from the egg entirely before the egg dispersed into motes and entered Alfred.
Alfred also seemed to recognize John even though he looked completely different and started rubbing his head on John's leg.
"My friend, you're back," John grinned from ear to ear as he rubbed Alfred's head while it shone and got bigger.
'Eh? It looks like the shell that entered his body made him enter the Adolescent stage.
There were five stages of growth per rank. Infant, Adolescent, Young, Adult, and Prime. Only after making their pet reach the Prime-stage could one rank up their pet to the next rank.
John inspected Alfred and got full details.
[Pet Name]: Ravenous Hound - Alfred.
[Pet Attributes]: Blood / Dark.
[Pet Rank]: Bronze.
[Pet Growth Stage]: Adolescent
— Gene Potential: 0/100
— Strength: 17
— Speed: 17
— Defense: 15
— Soul Core: 50
[Skills]:
—Blood Claws (5-Star)
—Umbral Drift (5-Star)
—Malefic Roar (5-Star)
John inspected the skills and found out their effects.
Blood Claws was an offense-type skill. It would enchant Alfred's claws, increasing their power significantly while also absorbing the target's blood upon bleeding them to heal himself.
Umbral Drift was a movement-type skill, allowing Alfred to turn into a stream of darkness to move fast while turning intangible.
Lastly, Maelfic Roar would cause the target to get stunned briefly and also a chance to make them cower after the stun, making them mentally unstable.
*Rustle...*
Hearing the rustling sound, John grinned and turned to the woods.
"Alright, buddy. It's time to begin our first hunt."
"Howl!" The adolescent Alfred released a cute howl this time and positioned himself in front of John before growling at a monster that just emerged from the bushes.
*Hiss!*
The snake stopped and hissed at the duo, its fang poisonously gleaming as it marked them as its prey.
