Chapter 617: Chapter 616: Inviting Nuwa to Eat

"Lady Nuwa was right just now; although the pit behind the hill is quite large, the number of small crayfish is too overwhelming. If we don’t deal with them promptly, the place will overflow," Chen Nuo said.

"So, Shopkeeper Chen, your solution is..." Before Nuwa could finish her sentence, she closed her mouth, realizing her question was somewhat redundant.

Chen Nuo had already given her the answer when they arrived: there were many ways to cook small crayfish, and they could even become a new dish at Chaos Residence.

"Head back and cook," Chen Nuo said, not feeling that Nuwa’s question was pointless, and he teleported back to Chaos Residence with her using his mana.

At Chaos Residence, Tian Peng and Sun Wukong had already sobered up. They had just finished tidying up the lobby when they saw Chen Nuo and Nuwa walking in together.

"Boss! You’re back, and Goddess Nuwa too," Tian Peng greeted them.

Nuwa nodded at Tian Peng, "You look different from before."

Though her words could seem like a simple statement, there was a tone of praise in Nuwa’s voice.

Tian Peng instantly understood what Nuwa meant and scratched his head bashfully, "It’s kind of like a rebirth for me."

Nuwa’s lips curved up slightly, "Being outstanding in appearance isn’t everything; you must strive to improve internally as well."

Just her smile alone made it hard for Tian Peng to look away. He quickly nodded, "Goddess Nuwa, you’re absolutely right. I certainly won’t forget, I’m working very hard."

Nuwa lifted her chin slightly, then followed Chen Nuo into the kitchen.

Watching Nuwa leave, Tian Peng couldn’t help but ask Sun Wukong, "Mr. Monkey, I feel like Goddess Nuwa is getting closer and closer to the shopkeeper. You’re around more often, do you see... Is Goddess Nuwa about to become the boss’s wife?"

Sun Wukong chuckled. Even though Nuwa hadn’t been around much lately, he still felt it was only a matter of time before she became his mistress.

He said to Tian Peng, "Probably. Just don’t know what the master thinks. As far as I am concerned, out of all the people I’ve met, only Nuwa is worthy of my master."

After thinking it over, Tian Peng felt that Sun Wukong might be making a good point.

Indeed, with Chen Nuo’s outstanding attributes, possessing both looks and ability, although he wasn’t an immortal, in his mind, no other immortal could match Chen Nuo’s prowess; only Nuwa was worthy of him.

Nuwa was completely unaware of the discussions the two were having behind her back; she was entirely preoccupied with the thought of small crayfish.

Truth be told, if it weren’t for Chen Nuo, she might have turned around and left the moment she saw the small crayfish, not lingering for such a long time, let alone helping Chen Nuo clean up the crayfish and returning to Chaos Residence.

"Shopkeeper, where did you go?" Tian Peng asked.

Chen Nuo, busy preparing the small crayfish, didn’t even look up, "What’s up?"

"Didn’t you say yesterday that you wanted to exterminate the small crayfish? I wanted to ask how we’re going to do it?"

Tian Peng still had the promise he made to the local deity in mind and, without realizing it, he had become a person with a strong sense of responsibility.

He would keep thinking about this issue until it was resolved; only then would the nagging feeling in his mind be alleviated.

"Guess what Lady Nuwa and I went out to do?" Chen Nuo didn’t spell it out for him, merely responding with a nonchalant question.

Tian Peng immediately understood what Chen Nuo meant and thanked him, exuberantly, "Shopkeeper, I didn’t expect that while Mr. Monkey and I were asleep, you’d remember to take care of this issue. I really don’t know how to thank you enough."

Truth be told, even if Tian Peng hadn’t mentioned it, Chen Nuo would have remembered; after all, the small crayfish were quite appealing to him.

Tian Peng just happened to be there, and even if someone else had come across it, he would have been happy to help. It wasn’t for anything else, it was just for the crayfish.

"No worries, as long as you remember my kindness, that’s enough," Chen Nuo said thick-facedly, accepting Tian Peng’s flattering words without mentioning his own interest in the crayfish.

"This matter is not easy to handle, even I can’t deal with it in one day. Since you still have some time, why not wait at the Chaos Residence? Once it’s all sorted, I’ll have Sun Wukong send you to the northwest directly."

There wasn’t much Tian Peng could actually help with here; he just had to notify the Local Deity after the issue was resolved.

Then, by the way, he would have him keep Tian Peng’s whereabouts a secret. After all, the mortal emperor had only appointed Tian Peng to a position in the northwest, without specifying that he inspect everything along the way.

"Shopkeeper, even if you didn’t help me with this, I’d still remember your kindness!" Tian Peng said eagerly, flattering him, then added, "Well, since I haven’t stayed at the Chaos Residence for quite some time, I’ll wait a bit longer, and leave once you’ve taken care of everything for me."

Chen Nuo nodded, then handed over a basket of live crayfish to Tian Peng, "Okay, as long as you know, clean these crayfish for me, I’m going to need them soon."

Taking the crayfish, Tian Peng casually asked, "Are you going to cook again? Didn’t you already make some just now?"

"What I did just now was practise using you guys, this time is different, I’m going to cook seriously now," Chen Nuo said.

Tian Peng didn’t mind Chen Nuo using him and Sun Wukong for practise; he had just asked casually and nodded after receiving an answer.

"Okay then, Shopkeeper, wait just a moment, I’ll have them ready in no time."

Lady Nuwa was right there, watching Tian Peng clean the crayfish with wide-open eyes, while Chen Nuo sat leisurely by, the epitome of tranquility.

It was as if the person whose eyes had shone at the sight of crayfish in the village wasn’t him at all; it seemed that he truly wanted to help Tian Peng, hence he was putting in so much effort.

"Lady Nuwa, please, make yourself at home," Chen Nuo even invited Nuwa to sit and watch Tian Peng clean up.

"Shopkeeper Chen, this..." Nuwa originally wanted to say something, but then felt it was not her place.

After all, it was an internal matter of the Chaos Residence, and since he was the boss, where was there a boss who didn’t exploit others? Besides, the helper was doing it voluntarily.

Nuwa started to speak but didn’t know how to continue, so she closed her mouth, just about to say something when suddenly she saw a cup being offered in front of her.

"Lady Nuwa, please have some tea," came Chen Nuo’s voice.

Nuwa looked up and met Chen Nuo’s sly gaze.

Chen Nuo had always been a towering figure in her mind; he was handsome, nice, with powerful mana and excellent cooking skills.

Even the entire Three Realms combined might not be able to come up with another Chen Nuo. Even though Nuwa had once confessed her feelings to Chen Nuo, he always maintained such a towering, perfect image.

He was so perfect, like a flower on a high cliff, that even Nuwa dared not desecrate it easily.

But unexpectedly, it was Chen Nuo himself who first shattered that perfect image.

He had a very good temperament, but occasionally liked to play some small jokes.

At times like those, his eyes would sparkle with such vivid, lively light; suddenly this man was imbued with color, no longer the unapproachable flower on a high cliff but rather like a vivid boy next door.

Nuwa caught his eye and then froze, completely entranced by his gaze.

Chen Nuo offered a cup of freshly poured tea to Nuwa, waiting for her to take it, but when she didn’t reach for the tea after a while, he looked at her helplessly and found her already lost in a daze.
