Chapter 55 - 50 This piece is the key to my apartment door, you don't need to give it back to me
Finally, at Gojo Satoru's insistence, Dr. Agasa called the police. The intruders were taken to the station on charges of trespassing and attempted theft.
Stepping out of Dr. Agasa's house, Geto Suguru glanced at Gojo, who walked beside him, and wondered why he had let Kimura Watanabe and Hamasaki Daisuke go.
"Satoru, when did you escape the domain maze?"
"Oh!" Gojo stretched lazily, clasping his hands behind his head. "I'll admit, Hamasaki Daisuke has some skills. His domain maze was tricky—even with my Six Eyes, seeing through the layout didn't make it easy to crack. But..." He smirked. "He was unlucky enough to meet me."
Geto was used to Gojo's arrogance. Annoying as it was, he had the talent to back it up, so Geto just nodded, waiting for the real explanation.
"Remember the lesson from the great teacher Gojo?" Gojo grinned. "If you can't find the exit, the fastest way out is to overwrite the domain entirely."
Geto's eyes narrowed. "You countered the domain?"
Gojo's way of breaking domains was to deploy his own—Infinity Void. Given the timing, it must have happened right when Geto summoned the earthquake catfish to attack Kimura Watanabe and Hamasaki Daisuke mentally.
So, while Hamasaki was dealing with the mental assault, he was also crushed under the overwhelming power of Infinity Void.
Geto almost felt bad for the guy. Almost.
Still, that didn't explain why Gojo let them go.
"Satoru, why didn't you step in sooner?"
"Step in where?"
"The domain. Saving me, Conan, and Dr. Agasa."
Gojo shrugged. "You didn't need saving. You figured it out on your own, didn't you?"
Despite himself, Geto felt a small spark of satisfaction. Keeping up with Gojo had always been one of his biggest goals.
"Then why let them go?" he pressed. "Don't tell me they were just 'too cunning' and slipped away."
Gojo didn't answer right away. They walked in silence for a moment before he finally spoke.
"Geto, do you trust me?"
"Of course." The answer came without hesitation.
Gojo grinned and slung an arm around Geto's shoulders. "Knew it! Truth is, I sensed another source of cursed energy near Dr. Agasa's house. And this whole thing—it was way beyond the abilities of two quasi-first-grade sorcerers."
Geto frowned. "You think someone else is behind them?"
Gojo nodded. "Remember that special-grade cursed fetus found at the apartment?"
"You're saying it wasn't random?"
"Exactly."
There was something else—something Gojo wasn't saying. He recognized that cursed energy. It had appeared before, back when he was fighting for the Star Plasma Vessel. If his hunch was right, Hamasaki and Kimura were part of the same group.
Worse, when that special-grade fetus appeared, Yuji Kaori had been at the scene too. Gojo could only hope it was a coincidence. The last thing he needed was Nozomi aligning with a notorious curse user faction.
"Satoru," Geto said, "why would someone go through all this trouble just to plant a special-grade cursed fetus near Yamashita Gen's murder scene?"
Gojo exhaled, shaking his head. "No idea."
The past was already shifting. Last time, Yamashita Gen had been alive when Gojo became a teacher. No special-grade fetus had appeared at that apartment. Someone was changing the course of events.
"So I let them go," Gojo continued. "I want them to think they got away clean. That we don't suspect anything. And that we still have Yamashita Gen's USB drive."
The sun was beginning to rise, pale light stretching across the sky. Gojo narrowed his eyes behind his blindfold. He had just received a report from the Gojo family:
According to all records in the sorcerer world, no mission existed at the address provided by Yamashita Ling. No official sorcerer was ever assigned there.
In short, the mission never happened.
Gojo sighed and pushed the thoughts aside. That was a problem for later.
"Suguru, it's the weekend. You were busy all day yesterday. What's the plan for today?"
Geto sighed, rubbing his temples. "Unlike you, I go to a normal high school. I missed a whole day of class—I need to borrow notes."
Gojo scoffed. "Just transfer to Jujutsu High! You're a sorcerer. No point sticking around in a regular school."
"No interest," Geto said firmly. "And do me a favor—keep my abilities secret."
Gojo raised an eyebrow but grinned. "Fine, fine! You're a genius anyway, one day of missed notes won't kill you." He nudged Geto with his elbow. "So, where are we hanging out after?"
Geto sighed again. "You're impossible."
They reached their apartment building.
Ding—
The elevator doors slid open. Geto stepped in, Gojo following close behind, making no move to retrieve his keys.
"You're not going to your own place?" Geto asked dryly.
Gojo clutched his chest dramatically. "How cruel! I just moved in, haven't even unpacked yet, and you're already kicking me out?"
No one would believe him.
Suppressing a groan, Geto unlocked his door. "Aren't you going to shower? Your toiletries—"
"I'll grab them now!" Gojo announced. "Then I'll shower here."

He made no move to leave. Instead, he reached into his pocket and pressed something into Geto's hand—a key.
"The spare to my apartment," Gojo said cheerfully. "No need to give it back!"
Geto stared at it, exasperated.
"Oh, one more thing—grab me a clean set of clothes! Pick the ones you like best."
Then, before Geto could protest, Gojo was already sprawled out on his couch, making himself at home.
