Jyera World Apocalypse-Chapter 59: Farewell
Chapter 59: Farewell
Valentina, her father, and Oyibo stood in front of a grave with a recently constructed, rudimentary concrete headstone... Less than two days had passed since the attack by the man named Thanatos.
Bennett’s name had been written as best as possible on this makeshift headstone... Not far from where they stood, there were six other graves with similar headstones...
The reason Valentina and Oyibo were standing fully healed was that another alien had appeared and helped them. Not only that, but the man, who identified himself as the Prince of a race called the Celestes, had extended an invitation for one of them to accompany him back to his home planet to witness the crimes committed against the humans of this solar system, and to become the representative of the Jyreans...
"You’re the one who should go, Valentina. Besides being a criminal, Thanatos could kill Kaito at any moment if I say too much..."
"I don’t want to leave the survivors at the police station..." Valentina said as she looked sadly at Bennett’s grave.
"We’ll be fine, daughter. I’ll take care of everyone while you’re gone!" Luis Morales said as he comforted his daughter.
"Thank you, Father, I’ll think about it! Can I be alone with Oyibo? I’d like to ask him a few questions..."
"Okay, I’ll be waiting for you at the end of the street..."
Valentina waited a few minutes and finally asked the question she wanted:
"Oyibo, what did Bennett want to tell you at the end?"
"What exactly he wanted, I don’t know, but it seems he didn’t tell you the whole truth, right?"
"He talked about the apocalypse in general..."
"I’m talking about his relationship with the Aethoria police and the problems you had the first time..."
"What problems did we have?"
"It’s a long story about the first apocalypse... are you willing to listen?"
"Yes!"
"I think Bennett already told you how difficult things were in the early days of the apocalypse, right? The zombies and monsters wiped out most of the population, and almost two-thirds of the remaining survivors died from the cold... Things were so difficult that we burned everything we could find just to keep ourselves momentarily warm...
...Books, clothes, furniture, and even money... We only learned about crystal consumption at the end of winter, almost a year after the apocalypse began..."
Oyibo looked at Valentina and blurted out the first piece of information that would be difficult for her to hear...
"Bennett was always a corrupt cop. He worked as an informant for the Hattori Mafia even before the apocalypse began, and after the apocalypse began, he came to us when we started recruiting people using the crystals and promising more power... Around that time, Kaito had him return to the police station and continue spying on you and your group of survivors... Since you had become quite prominent, with many powerful survivors, and some scientists who were bringing back some technology..."
Valentina felt a pang in her heart, her feelings very confused. She was angry at having discovered that Bennett had been a traitor for so many years, and she had never found out, and at the same time, she felt guilty that he had died while trying to save her...
But Oyibo’s next piece of information left Valentina completely dumbfounded.
"But not even Kaito anticipated what would happen... At some point, you and Bennett became lovers, and he began sending false information to the Hattori Mafia... When my brother discovered that he was in love with you and had switched sides, he found a way to reveal the truth to you and your group..."
"That... Bennett and I?" Valentina had to walk to a spot in the makeshift cemetery and sit down...
Oyibo didn’t wait for her to recover and continued throwing bomb after bomb...
"Things didn’t end well between you two after that. You never believed he truly loved you, and that he only seduced you to spy on your group... After a nasty fight where you kicked him out of the group, Bennett joined the Slavic Mafia, and after I discovered my parents were murdered by Kenji before he adopted me, I became very angry and also betrayed Kaito by joining the Slavic Mafia at the same time..."
"I didn’t know about your parents, I’m sorry..."
"It’s okay, the Slavic deceived me... It seemed my parents belonged to a dangerous and cruel sect called the Black Hammer*1... They weren’t good people, and in the end, they provoked my adoptive father. I think that, like Bennett, I deeply regretted betraying Kaito, and this time, I swore I would be even more loyal to him until the end..." The day I died... The same thing happened with Bennett. He cut ties with me and Kaito as soon as the new apocalypse began, and he never accepted bribes again after time returned. It was very clear he wanted to make things right this time and prove that he truly loved you..."
"But if he wanted to prove that to me, why did he join the Slavs instead of any other group of survivors?"
"Because Bennett continued to protect you and the group of survivors you led... He joined the Slavs to spy on them and sabotage any plans that might involve your group... I know because I helped him a few times too..."
"Thank you for telling me the truth, Oyibo. I need to be alone for a while..."
"Accept the brilliant man’s offer and seek revenge for Bennett. I will lead the Hattori Mafia and help your group in any way I can during your absence."
After promising to help her group, Oyibo left, leaving her alone. And Valentina burst into tears at Bennett’s grave, crying for almost an hour. She had promised herself she would never cry like that again since she lost her mother as a teenager, but due to her feelings for Bennett, she couldn’t keep that promise. Deep down, she always knew she had feelings for him, too, but she never let it show because she was so correct about everything...

"Goodbye, daughter. Don’t do anything dangerous, and be careful with these people. Never trust them too much..."
"Father..." Valentina gave her father a reprimanding look, as he had told her not to trust the luminous man who stood just a few feet away from them and could surely easily hear what they were talking about...
The man approached them, holding a box, and said:
"Your father is right. It’s always good to be on your guard with strangers... Especially with those who may have ulterior motives."
Then, after saying this, the man opened the box and handed it to Valentina’s father.
"Inside this box are four spatial energy cores. They are made of the same technology the Jyreans recently discovered, but it has been improved and refined to its peak. These four cores are enough to power all of Jyera again... Inside is also additional information on the many uses of this technology, additional information about the apocalypse, and a backup of all Jyera’s internet data. Consider this compensation to help you get through the apocalypse."
Luis Morales was shocked and felt a huge, invisible weight on the box he now held.
"I’ll also leave a device in space that blocks all signals from Jyera and Jyor. From now on, you don’t need to worry about those people listening to you. The password for this device and how to use it are along with information about the apocalypse... It also has additional functions similar to old satellites that will help you monitor the weather and space so you won’t be left in the dark about what’s happening in your own home."
"Thank you very much!"
Luís and Valentina thanked them before Luís asked a question:
"You didn’t tell us your name, sir...?"
"My name is difficult to pronounce in the Jyera language; you can call me Prince Hao."
"Thank you for your help, Prince Hao!" Luis bowed along with Valentina.
"Come on, Valentina, my people are also in danger, and I need to return quickly..."
"Goodbye, Father. Be careful and don’t do anything dangerous."
Valentina waved to her father before disappearing from her father’s eyes, along with the mysterious Prince.

Valentina felt dizzy for a moment, but when the dizziness passed, she was inside a strange spaceship that had no controls whatsoever. The only thing she could see was what she believed to be the planet Jyera, now covered in red clouds. Prince Hao positioned himself in the center of a platform before the ship began moving so fast that Valentina could no longer see anything outside.
After a while, he moved away from the platform, and Valentina finally asked the question that needed to be asked.
"Why were we attacked so cruelly and mercilessly? How did we offend this race?"
"It should be a few hours before we return to my planet. Please have a seat..."
With a wave of her hand, comfortable armchairs appeared, and even various foods appeared in front of Valentina as if materialized out of thin air.
"The story is long, and the Olympians’ obsession with Jyera began much earlier than you might imagine... And this isn’t the first time they’ve tried to destroy their civilization..."
