Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!-Chapter 2197: The Goddess’s Assistance
The one who came was the Red Windmill, bringing a meal cart along.
"Seeing you’re in such a hurry, you probably haven’t had dinner yet, right? I ordered more than I can eat, so why not join me?" said the Red Windmill with a smile.
Xu Huo pointed to the table beside them, signaling him to come in.
The Red Windmill laid the food on the table and poured a glass of wine. "You’re injured, can you drink?"
For players, losing a limb is a small matter, let alone having a few drinks, but Xu Huo still declined.
The Red Windmill joked, "Rest assured, I absolutely haven’t tampered with it."
Xu Huo wheeled himself slowly to the dining table, sat down, and said, "It doesn’t matter if you did."
The Red Windmill chuckled twice, changed the topic casually, and returned to the main issue. They still wanted to invite Xu Huo to join them in clearing the instance because some players were losing patience. If they wasted too much time in the instance, they would face high-risk random instances afterward, which are even more terrifying than spiritual dungeons.
"Entering the instance is very risky," the Red Windmill upped the offer, "we’ve discussed, besides giving you two Rank A Props, you can ask for additional conditions, and we’ll agree to anything we can."
Xu Huo took a sip of water before speaking, "Would you agree if you were me?"
The Red Windmill laughed, "Definitely not. Never mind, I’m just here to deliver the message, whether it works out or not, it’s not on me."
"Don’t you need to clear it?" Xu Huo raised an eyebrow.
"Of course I do," the Red Windmill poured himself another glass of wine, downed it in one go, and said, "But the longer you stay here, the more afraid you are to enter the instance. Murder or being murdered is common, you get used to it, but if you die inexplicably, not knowing what happened before dying, that’s truly terrifying."
"It’s not that scary," Xu Huo thought of what he had seen in the Inquiry Hall and added, "The Goddess should have a physical form, or at least, the Instance Authorization Document should be in her venue. With so many advanced players working together, destroying an instance is not entirely impossible."
"It might work for other instances, but this is a spiritual dungeon; you might accidentally harm your own team." The Red Windmill seemed very pessimistic, and after several more gulps of wine, he started lamenting about his tragic experiences, even mentioning his unborn child and how he might never see it...
Xu Huo seemed to listen, the pace of his eating slowed more and more, until he put down his chopsticks, quietly observing the person before him.
With a "creak," the room’s door opened from the outside, and two players walked in, heading straight for Xu Huo and said to the Red Windmill, "Isn’t it about time?"
The Red Windmill sized up Xu Huo, hesitated a bit, and said, "Looks like it’s been stabilized by the characteristics, but it’s odd. The mental interference from the Holy Land Goddess Temple is stronger than in the Satellite Cities; you can feel it standing outside the main gate, yet he entered and exited unaffected. Logically, his spiritual power shouldn’t be weak, how did he lose focus so quickly."
"Just acting, maybe. There are many players, and he’s injured; he doesn’t even dare ride a train or leave this division, proving he’s not exceptionally strong. People like him, I’m worried he’ll drag us down. If we weren’t out of options... never mind, let’s go, time is key; when the characteristic wears off, it will be a hassle."
The two grabbed Xu Huo to leave, but unexpectedly, when they reached the door, they found it wouldn’t open.
"What’s going on?" the Red Windmill asked from behind.
The player at the front released Xu Huo and used force to pull the door handle, but the door was as if welded shut, unmoving.
The Red Windmill glanced suspiciously at Xu Huo and urged, "Break the door down."
The player at the front was about to comply, but in the next moment, the entire room started to disintegrate from the door toward the floor and walls, as if the material was suddenly melting or powdering, morphing into swirling dust and then reconverging.
The newly consolidated room terrified the three players into retreating; floor, walls, and ceiling were all covered with patterns resembling the Divine Hall’s Main Gate, if not more frightening, as eyes continuously flipped out from within, not mere images, but real moving eyeballs!
"How can this be!" The Red Windmill and the others shouted, "This is fake! It’s fake! We’re clearly in the hotel, how did we end up at the temple!"
How could it be?
Xu Huo had the same thought. Initially, he only intended to mimic the temple’s decor to buy some time; with his level of Psychic Power, it couldn’t instantly trap three advanced players in an Illusion Realm so thoroughly. But when the eye patterns appeared, the room’s spiritual power seemed to surge drastically, as if external force poured in and overlapped with his Psychic Power, giving him more control over the room, doubling the effect.
This surprised him momentarily, then he refocused.
"Someone’s tampering!" The Red Windmill reacted quickly, refusing to believe the instance venue suddenly had issues, immediately targeting Xu Huo, aiming to kill him on the spot, but in the next second, the wall suddenly surged in and swallowed him.
The other two players, upon witnessing his disappearance, didn’t care about taking Xu Huo with them, pulling out props to escape.
But the dungeon boss in this section was too powerful. She could sense subtle changes in Xu Huo’s Spiritual World, assisting him in achieving his goals and the eyeball interference was directly overwhelming; as soon as the two players took out their props, their senses became completely blocked. Not only did they throw their props away, but they also crashed directly into the wall, and seemed unfazed as they were engulfed by the wall of moving eyes.
Xu Huo expended minimal effort to deal with these three, no need even for body disposal, and once the room returned to normal, everything was spotless.
The instance had rendered aid to him — this notion amused him somewhat.
Having gone through so many instances, nearly all were fraught with peril or tinged with inevitable despair, except for the Puppet Maker instance; he hadn’t encountered such a "friendly" dungeon boss before. Not only did they not attack players, but they even took the initiative to help.
Moreover, it happened outside the instance venue, by a non-human.
Initially trying to kill him, now coming to his aid, Xu Huo couldn’t quite fathom what this "Goddess" intended, but since she hadn’t reappeared to communicate, there was no point in worrying.
If there’s a purpose, she would surely reveal herself.
The execution was excellent; the disappearance of the Red Windmill and the others succeeded in persuading the remaining players to be reasonable. No one else disturbed him for the rest of that night.
