BAM!

<You know you don’t have to kick open every->

[Shove it!]

<Yes ma’am.>

^Huh?^

Olstenna was all set to call it a day due to the innate desire of not wanting to do anything at the moment, only to find his peace and solitude suddenly interrupted by the arrival of an unknown and unexpected guest, alongside several others he recognized.

To be more precise, the doors to the prison were kicked open by a woman that reminded Olstenna of a demonic tiger, and she was accompanied by several of the kaijin and the curator spirits.

From a glance, Olstenna could tell that this woman wasn’t a new Kaijin Lord or anything of the sort, but she did have this air of familiarity to her that was very similar to the Kaijin Lord he fought before.

’I assume she’s related to him...meaning if I piss her off enough, that could mean the Kaijin Lord will have to come and defend her honor and fight me!’

With that observation in mind, Olstenna proceeded to try and rile this woman up.

"Apologies but I didn’t order any pro-"

"Shut your purple tinderbox looking ass up," Daria interjected, still running high on pure mama bear rage. "Are you the Ignarii known as Olstenna? The guy who almost injured my darling baby boy when you suddenly attacked him in the middle of an arena match?"

"Uh...yeah."

"Good."

Evidently, Olstenna did not expect the mother of the Kaijin Lord to be this forceful, so he ended up getting completely caught up in her rhythm.

Actually, this did explain some things during their last battle...

"Now, I don’t care why or how you know about my son’s status as the Kaijin Lord of this era, nor do I give a single shit," Daria explained. "But I am led to believe that you came from the Dozing Salamander continent and more or less traveled all the way to Stone Claw by your lonesome. Is this accurate?"

"I would say so, yes," Olstenna confirmed.

"In that case, that should make this next part easy for you to understand: I want to make a deal."

"Oh?"

"As of this moment, my son, the Kaijin Lord, is currently travelling through your home continent in a haphazard manner," Daria explained. "I want you to go and serve as a guide while these guys go and rescue him."

"Wait, he’s on the Dozing Salamander continent, right now? How the hell did he end up there?," Olstenna asked. "It took me weeks just to cross the continent, get through multiple owned territories and reach the borders of Stampeding Bison. Where’s he at exactly?"

"He’s currently in the isthmus connecting our two landmasses together," Daria smoothly answered. "As for where he’ll probably no longer be, he’s in a place called Papaya Town."

"Papaya Town?," Olstenna repeated to himself after hearing the name. "Papaya Town...wait...shot in the dark, did the Kaijin Lord run into a group called the Cortez Trading Company? They got a logo that looks like a rooster or some kind of bird at least."

"Why is that important?," Daria asked while feigning confusion and ignorance.

Prior to coming down here to talk to Olstenna, she made sure to to review any and all footage in regards to her son’s behavior in the past few hours since he had disappeared to Dozing Salamander.

She had...words...in regards to her son’s reckless behavior, despite his heart being in the right place.

Either way, the fact that this Ignarii bastard was mentioning something that strangely specific must’ve been important.

"Well, if the Kaijin Lord did come into contact with them, I hope he managed to stay on their good side," Olstenna cryptically answered.

"Why?"

"Long and short of it is that those guys are under the protection of Duke Diamoro, an Aether King from the Erupting Dawn Empire," Olstenna explained. "While I have no doubt that your boy could probably fight him with relative ease, especially if his kaijin are anything to go off of, he runs the risk of pissing off the entire empire as well. Duke Diamoro, despite being a raging asshole, is surprisingly adept at diplomacy and had made friends with a lot of the other Imperial powerhouses, including the Emperor of the whole thing. At least, that’s what I heard," Olstenna answered.

"Hmmm."

On the surface, Daria looked unphased by this revelation. Internally though, she was screaming in the way that mothers do when they feel that their children are being threatened.

"But none of that matters to me, because I’m going to refuse whatever this is," Olstenna said while stepping away from his prison’s door. "Good luck with-"

[Oh no you fucking don’t!]

Fwip!

^GAH!^

Before Olstenna could leave and refuse the offer, Daria had done something that neither Logos, Pathos, Nepherage, Screamira, Razorstella or Springerdermain could’ve predicted.

Daria had coated her arm in [Chaos] and used it to reach through the prison door and grab Olstenna by his Aetherii crystal.

This was the equivalent of grabbing a human’s heart, brain and soul all at the same time.

Needless to say, Olstenna was in a lot of pain.

[Listen here you overgrown firestarter,] Daria began to say while continuing to grasp Olstenna’s crystal. [I was going to offer you the chance to fight my darling son again since that’s what you want if you managed to find him, but I’m going to add an addendum. If you refuse, I’m going to inject this crystal here with enough Chaos that your entire existence will be nothing but writhing in pain as you pray for a death that will never come. Are we clear?]

^C-crsytal,^ Olstenna managed to squeak out despite the pain.

[Good.]

^Gasp!^

Hearing what she needed, Daria released Olstenna’s crystal and turned to leave.

"The kaijin and curators will be preparing you for the journey ahead whenever you’re ready. Be sure to pick yourself up and dust yourself in a timely manner," Daria said as she left the underground prison.

Left on the floor of his cell, gasping for air, Olstenna came to a realization.

’That explains...why the Kaijin Lord is the way he is...damn. Just...damn.’

...

[Did...did y’all know she could do that?,] Springerdermain asked.

<=Nope.=>

[Holy...]

[So we just confirmed that our Lord’s tendency to act the way he does...is just genetic at this point?,] Razorstella asked.

[But he’s also an Otherlander...so...how does that work?,] Screamira pointed out.

<=Just don’t think about it too much.=>

[Fine...wait, did you guys remember to inform the consorts about the current situation?,] Nepeherage followed up.

<=That’s the job of the familiars.=>

...Meanwhile, elsewhere on the globe...

"I’m sorry, Sprocket. Hypnos. Could you repeat what you just said?"

[Like we said Boss, Master Zhen Liu is currently in the middle of the isthmus connecting the Stampeding Bison and Dozing Salamander continent.]

[In a place called...yawn...Papaya Town.]

"Huh..."

"That’s...no way...," Alicia trailed off while looking through her bags.

In a private courtyard of Rainbow Phoenix Academy, Alicia Goldhsire and Bellona Ecaredies were in the middle of being debriefed about the latest happening in regards to their shared love interest from their respective familiars.

Alicia’s familiar took the form of a small mechanical golem that was oddly adorable, while Bellona ’s took the form of a floating sheep cloud with a sleeping cap on their head.

When they first heard the news about Zhen Liu getting caught up in a teleportation accident, they couldn’t help but to get understandably worried. Especially when they heard about the fact that he only had one kaijin with him, his connection to the library had gotten wonky due to all the teleportation energy fucking with it and that he was more or less fired from a magic cannon in a random direction.

So to hear that he was okay and that they found his location was comforting to say the least.

Especially when they learned exactly where he was.

"Ah! Here it is."

From her items, Alicia pulled forth a map that just so happened to depict the very same isthmus that her familiar, Sprocket, just told her and Bellona about.

More specifically it was a map of a port city called Amber Shore, and the area surrounding it.

Slightly north of it was a small dot with the name of Papaya Town written right next to it...and right below that was the drawing of a swirling vortex.

"I knew that name seemed familiar!," Alicia proclaimed excitedly. "It’s right next to where the latest training expedition was scheduled to go. That means all we have to do is sign-up and we can go and meet up with Xiao Liu! Maybe give him a helping a hand if needed."

"Hmmm. While I do think that’s a good idea," Bellona hesitantly nodded. "There’s an issue with that plan."

"Which is..."

"We need to have a group of four, and our average power has to be equivalent to that of a Grandmaster. And legally speaking, were only Masters," Bellona pointed out.

"Yes, but we know someone who’s an Aether Lord."

"...oh yeah."
