...Now back to the mines...

'Anyways, Blazejudicator, are my cousins the only ones who decided to sneak into the mine?'

[Sneak is a strong word here, Executor, but yes. Maggie opted to stay outside for obvious reasons while Antonio decided to stick by her side to keep an eye on her. That, and he had a feeling in his stomach that entering this mine was a bad idea.]

'Honestly, fair,' Zhen Liu agreed. 'Man either got kaijin blood or just enough [Chaos] in his blood to set off this dude's alarms. Rather not hand him a golden opportunity to do something...uncouth.'

[If you mean, "turn him into one of those mutant kaijin", then I agree.]

Zhen Liu wasn't able to see it, but he could feel that Blazejudicator had just nodded.

[Now that we've reunited, are there any other plans you want to convey to us or to your cousins?]

'Sort of...I think I need you guys to clear our the smelting room, but not now.'

[Alright, when?]

'While we're out hunting, of course.'

[Ah...okay, anything else.]

'I will let you know later. For now, I got some... preparations to do.'

[Of course.]

Switching his connection to Blazejudicator from being active to passive, Zhen Liu immediately brought his attention back to the present.

'Alright, we can't exactly have a wild goose chase without some actual geese,'he thought to himself as he began to look about his quarters, reexamining the fucked-up furniture and barely cleaned cavern with a more critical eye. 'Lets see how much I can stretch my abilities...'

Coating his hand with aether, Zhen Liu first walked over to the splinter-ridden chair and rubbed down one of its legs.

The chair's leg immediately became smoothed down to a fine polish, while Zhen Liu's aether-coated hands was now holding a bundle of splinters.

'Type one.'

Examining the beast skin rug's dessicated head, Zhen Liu noticed that multiple bone fragments were left behind.

All it took was a swift kick to let loose a whole bunch of skull fragments, several loose teeth...and a dried out eyeball.

'Type two and that's gross as fuck.'

Zhen Liu looked about the room attempting to find any sizeable loose stones, only to come up with nothing. However, when he decided to pat the head he was going to be sleeping on, he managed to knock loose several feathers from the bed and blankets.

'Type 3.'

Materials in hand, Zhen Liu made sure to separate them before he started to make them into zakos.

'Alright, I know what to expect from the bone fragments, but what the hell is going to pop out of the splinters and the feathers?' Zhen Liu asked himself.

This would've been the part where Logos and Pathos would've downloaded a packet of information into his head about the possibilities, but he was still on his own.

'Eh, whatever. I'll just have to gamble for the best,' Zhen Liu sighed before he began injecting [Chaos] into the materials.

'Hopefully, whatever comes out, can serve as a decent distraction at worst and at best...okay, maybe taking out one of those Demon Knights without kaijin power is unrealistic, but still.'

As the zakos began to populate and take shape in his mind, Zhen Liu began to plan on precisely when and where he was going to use these zakos.

'I suppose the first step in this wild is to leave some tasty breadcrumbs...'

Zhen Liu's planning went into the wee hours of the night, and by the time he was done, he didn't get much sleep.

Thankfully, he wasn't going to have to take point the next day.

'Lets hope this distracts him long enough for the others to complete their work...and hopefully until it's time...whatever the fuck that means.'

...The Next Day...

[COCKADOODLEFUCKYOU, WAKE UP ASSHOLES!]a rooster-like kaijin called out into the mines, his voice echoing and causing all to hear it to cringe in pain.

This cry was meant for just Dante, the Curator(Zhen Liu), the Demon Knights, and their chosen subordinates for the hunt for the "Other Kaijin Lord", but the kaijin in charge of waking them up thought that he might as well wake up all of the slaves while he was at it.

The slaves didn't need that much sleep anyways.

As for the kaijin, they didn't appreciate it either.

[Oi, what the fuck?!]

[I will eat you, you stupid bird!]

The kaijin of the [Mines of Malevolence] didn't need to eat or sleep, but they didn't appreciate having their brains rattled by a [Chaos]-enhanced cry.

Regardless of any inflicted injuries, though, it proved effective in rallying the relevant parties.

In the outer courtyard of the mines, the first to gather were the subordinates of the Demon Knights, and the Demon Knights themselves.

[The Ones who Hate.]

[Those Who Subjugate.]

[Those Who Drown .]

[They Who Ignore.]

These groups followed Obsidious, Slavina, Gumba, and Delictum, respectively.

Reflecting their names, and the nature of their leaders, each of the kaijin of these groups shared very similar traits.

[The Ones who Hate] all appeared to be kaijin with an inclination towards the element of fire, or were originally aether beasts who were known for being murderous and destructive. Blood-red eyes or burning manes seemed to be a common trait.

[Those Who Subjugate] were all poisonous or venomous kaijin who seemed to look at everyone like they were nothing more than amusing toys. With colorful patterned skins and garish looks, one would have to be incredibly blind to not realize that they were toxic.

Despite their name, [Those Who Drown], actually consisted of kaijin who were keyed towards the earth element as opposed to water, mud, to be more precise. These kaijin were all like Gumba, fat, slow, and absurdly strong. Any caught in their grasp would have the life and light squeezed out of them like juice from a lemon.

As for [Those Who Ignore], they were all birds. Macaws, cranes, crows, chickens, it seemed that all of the kaijin of this group were some kind of feathered freak. There was a joke here to be made about bird brains, but they wouldn't be able to feel insulted by it.

These groups barely got along with each other, hell, the kaijin that composed them barely got along with each other. However, in the presence of their leaders, they were as tame as...barely chained dogs.

As such, while they wouldn't rip each other to shreds, they would at least insult each other.

[Hey, burnouts! You guys going to accidentally torch whatever we're hunting again?]

[Shut up, you colorful skanks! See if I don't burn out your eyes!]

[Try me!]

[Why are you looking at me like that, birdbrain? You want me to hug your neck?]

[Pardon me, fatso, I couldn't help but to notice your rolls. Makes me wonder if you'd feel it if I tear it off!]

Most leaders would put an end to such squabbles, marking it as being unprofessional, but the Demon Knights didn't discourage such behavior in the slightest.

They prefered to sharpen steel against steel.

[How long do you think it's gonna take until someone decides to throw a punch?] Slavina asked her compatriots.

[I think it's gonna be one of Gumba's,] Delictum observed. [The one who looks like a hippo is making obscene gestures.]

[Oh, he's definitely going to punch someone out,] Gumba agreed.

[Oi, quiet, you idiots,] Obsidious hissed. [Our creator approaches.]

From the depths of the mines, an insidiously heavy aura soon pressed down on the arguing kaijin, forcing them to become silent and obedient like little lambs.

Shortly after, Dante, the Lord of these rowdy bastards, exited from the mines while accompanied by Zhen Liu.

The only two humans of this hunting expedition were dressed in sturdy looking clothes meant for outdoor exploration.

However, Zhen Liu's clothes were noticeably ostentatious in comparison to Dante's.

^Are you sure you're okay with such simple clothes? It's not too late to turn around and change,^ Dante asked, being about as subtle as a runaway wagon filled with burning barrels of oil.

[I'll be fine, Master Dante,] Zhen Liu retorted. [Wisdom of your future predecessors suggest that it's better to be practical than excessive.]

^If you say so.^

Dante and Zhen Liu proceeded to join the gathered kaijin, with the latter cupping their hands and bowing in their direction.

It was at this time that Zhen Liu noticed that Dante began to circulate his [Chaos].

[Master Dante. Curator. Good morning.] freewёbnoνel.com

[Good morning.]

Are you guys ready to move?

[Indeed, Master Dante,] Obsidious nodded. [And we even have a vehicle ready for you and the curator,] Slavina said with obvious pleasure in her voice.

Oh?

Without saying anything furhter, Slavina simply manifested a whip made of her vines and smacked the ground.

Ah, I see.

[Hmmm.]

Spurred by the signal, a large palanquin being carried by several dozen slaves appeared from the right and entered Dante's field of vision.

Needless to say, these slaves looked absolutely soulless.

[Your chariot awaits.]
