Kami no gyakuten:The yamato hero-Chapter 55: The Worthy One
Chapter 55 - The Worthy One
Rain began to fall.
Each drop that hit the scorched battlefield seemed to echo with sorrow. The once vibrant valley was now a grave of silence, marked by broken trees, shattered mountains, and the lifeless body of the man who once held Yamato's hopes in his hands—Escarion.
The warriors gathered around him, kneeling, trembling—not from fear, but from loss. Tears mixed with rain as they fell to the ground.
Sho stood beside Escarion's lifeless body, fists clenched. His voice cracked as he muttered, "This... this is all because of Daigo."
Kuki lowered his head, his long silver hair soaked. "I never saw Daigo like that before. The rage in his eyes... it was something else. Like he wasn't even himself."
Sho's eyes narrowed. "But he's gone now."
Jun, standing tall, gave a cautious nod. "Yes. For now..."
There was a strange pause. The battlefield seemed to breathe—a sigh of mourning.
Sho's gaze drifted to the center, where Escarion had planted the green trident into the earth—the legendary weapon that once belonged to Lucas, and that channeled a fragment of Escarion's infinite power. It stood there like a final monument of the fallen hero.
He walked slowly toward it, ignoring the wind and rain, the murmurs behind him.
Kuki whispered, "Sho... what are you doing?"
Jun didn't speak. His eyes followed Sho, trying to make sense of what was happening.
Sho stood before the trident. It was still glowing faintly, humming with silent energy. The moment his hand touched the shaft, a burst of green aura surged outward, spiraling through the clouds like a beam of light piercing the heavens.
The ground trembled beneath them. The battlefield lit up in emerald green. The rain paused for a second, frozen in the air.
Sho gritted his teeth and pulled.
The trident rose from the ground, clean and smooth, as if it had been waiting for him all along.
The aura engulfed him—twisting, flowing, absorbing into his soul.
Every clan leader and elder around the field gasped in shock.
"That aura...!"
"It's not rejecting him..."
"He's... he's the one..."
Sho turned around, holding the trident with ease in one hand. His eyes glowed faint green, not with violence, but with determination.
"I guess... I'm that worthy one," he said calmly.
No arrogance. No smile. Just quiet understanding.
Jun stepped forward, brows furrowed. "Sho... do you know what this means?"
Sho looked down at Escarion's body, then to the clouds above. "I don't know what I'm supposed to do next. But if this weapon chose me... then I'll carry what Escarion died protecting."
The wind howled.
Kuki slowly walked forward, placing a hand on Sho's shoulder. "Then you better be ready. Escarion didn't just pass on a weapon... he passed on a legacy. A responsibility."
Sho nodded. "I know."
The elders began murmuring amongst themselves.
"We need a new protector..."
"Will the clans even accept someone so young?"
"But the weapon chose him!"

Jun raised his voice, silencing the noise. "Enough. We all saw it with our own eyes. This is not about age or position. It's about worth. And if Sho is the one, then we honor Escarion's final decision."
Everyone bowed their heads.
The rain resumed, heavier now—almost as if the heavens were weeping alongside them.
Sho knelt down beside Escarion one last time.
"You lived for Yamato... and now, I'll live to protect it. I'll make sure no one forgets your name."
He stood up, turned to the battlefield, and raised the trident into the air.
In that moment, even the rain seemed to pause once more.
From the ruins, hope sparked again.
And far away, across the seas, across the realms where shadows lurk... something else stirred in the darkness—watching, waiting—for Yamato's next Chapter to begin.
