Chapter 2533: True Identity
Yi stared at Dijun in disbelief. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but nothing came out before he collapsed on the ground.
Meanwhile, Gu was finally able to get back up. He felt exuberant at Yi’s death. He spat a mouthful of blood and sneered, “Pui! You deserve to die.” He turned to the dashing man and said, “Thank you for your aid, Milord. This brute would have killed me if it weren’t for your timely arrival.”
The dashing man eyed him coldly. “You have disappointed me.”
Gu smiled sheepishly. He was embarrassed that he, a celestial, had been pinned onto the ground and helplessly beaten up by a shaman.
“You didn’t tell anyone else what happened, right?” the dashing man asked.
“Rest assured, Milord. I wouldn’t talk about a matter of such great importance with others. Even my subordinate, Qin, doesn’t know about it.” Gu thumped his chest and gave his assurance.
“That’s good.” The dashing man slowly nodded before raising his finger.
Gu was horrified to see the other party’s expression and movements. “Milord, are you planning to silence me? Please be assured that I won’t share this matter with anyone!”
The dashing man had an utterly cold look on his face. “Only the dead tell no tales, but you don’t have to worry. I won’t kill you. You are still useful to me.”
His finger lightly tapped on Gu’s forehead. There was a flash of golden light, and the latter’s expression turned dull before he passed out. The dashing man then casually waved his hand, and a golden flame enveloped Yi’s corpse. Soon, his body was burned to ashes.
“No one should know now. All that’s left is the situation over there,” the dashing man murmured as he turned his sights toward the heavenly tribulation.
...
Seeing the imminent arrival of the orange lightning whip, Zu An quickly manifested the Tranquility Bell to shield himself. However, it only held for a second before shattering into pieces.
Tsk, that’s why pirated things can't be trusted. I don’t think it's ever succeeded in stopping the enemy’s attack before. Oh well, at least it can greatly weaken my enemy’s attacks.
At the very least, the whip did dim significantly after tearing through the Tranquility Bell.
Zu An channeled the White Lotus Flame into his Flame Blade before swinging it down on the whip, severing it into two. The massive lightning whip dissipated into sparks that flowed into Zu An’s body and tempered it.
The clouds in the sky bellowed furiously. Golden lights peeked through the clouds, dyeing the pitch-black sky yellow.
Sensing the increasing pressure from the tribulation clouds, Zu An didn’t dare to let his guard down. He channeled the Primordial Origin Sutra to heal his wounds. Despite his not preparing pills beforehand, the Primordial Origin Sutra’s recovery prowess was more useful than most pills.
The Mermaid Queen tried to rush over to Zu An’s side, only for Yumen Beiqing to stop her. “What are you doing?”
“I want to deliver some pills and offer him some buffs to help him tide through the heavenly tribulation,” the Mermaid Queen said anxiously.
“Don’t even think about going there. You will only put him in greater danger,” Yumen Beiqing warned. “If you step within a certain radius of it, the heavenly tribulation will grow even stronger. You will only be making things more difficult for him.”
The Mermaid Queen was horrified. “I’m glad that you’re here, Saintess. Otherwise, I would have made a grievous mistake.”
At the same time, she was curious to know why the Saintess was so familiar with heavenly tribulation. She was about to ask that when a golden light suddenly shone beside her.
A figure stepped out from the light. He extended a single finger toward her, looking as if he was going to crush her like a mere ant.
The Mermaid Queen tried to raise her hand and activate the Mermaid race's forbidden arts, only to realize that she couldn’t move. Time seemed to stop around her, causing even her thoughts to stall to a halt.
Yumen Beiqing was startled.
As she thrust her palm toward the figure, a blinding light shone around her too. The clash between the finger and the palm sent her flying a hundred meters back, whereas the golden figure merely swayed on the spot.
“Hm?” The dashing man didn’t continue his attack. Instead, he looked at Yumen Beiqing with questioning eyes. “It’s you. What are you doing here?”
Yumen Beiqing’s face darkened. She glanced worriedly at Zu An and the Mermaid Queen.
“Don’t worry. They can’t see what’s happening here,” the dashing man replied.
Yumen Beiqing still refused to speak a word. She stared intently at the dashing man.
The dashing man chuckled. “Why are you looking at me with such eyes? Is it because you haven’t seen me in a long while, my wife, Sun Goddess Xihe? What are you doing in this mortal body?”
Yumen Beiqing’s eyes turned cold. She didn’t display the slightest joy at this reunion. “Don’t disgust me by calling me that! What are you doing here?”
The dashing man smiled. “I sensed a phenomenon, and it was the legendary Seven-Colored Divine Tribulation at that, so I came here to have a look out of curiosity.”
“Do you think I’d believe that?” Yumen Beiqing sneered. “You, the Celestial Emperor, descending to the mortal world over such a triviality? I reckon you came to deal with Gu.”
The dashing man’s expression turned cold. “I don’t need to explain myself to you.”
Yumen Beiqing scoffed in contempt, “Of course. Who doesn’t know that the great Dijun has lovers everywhere? There’s no one you are accountable to.”
“Are you jealous?” The dashing man smirked. “This human body doesn’t look too bad, and that mermaid over there is quite a charmer too. Did you find them especially for me?”
“Your narcissism is as repulsive as ever.” Yumen Beiqing’s eyes were frigid. “If you can fool around, I can do the same too. I can now tell you that this woman and I are that man’s lovers.”
“That man...” The dashing man looked at Zu An with a frown. “So he’s the one who invoked the legendary Seven-Colored Divine Tribulation. I see potential in him, but his strength is lacking...”
Just then, his smile suddenly stiffened. He turned his gaze back to Yumen Beiqing and huffed. “Xihe, I know you're displeased by my womanizing ways, and that you’re saying those words to irk me. You wouldn’t fancy an uncouth man like that. What are you scheming?”
