The next day arrived soon. Li Luxian was right at the time to take her to the registration.

"What was this so-called surprise you talked about Li Luxian?" Chen Yi was finally getting comfortable with calling him by his name. An improvement it was, that pleased Li Luxian to no end. Whenever she said his name through her those cherry red lips, Li Luxian would feel a particular way.

He smiled, grabbed her hands. The warmth of his hands on hers felt soothing and like always, sent her heart into a hyperactive state almost immediately. After having a fair number of intimate interactions with Li Luxian, Chen Yi had learned to keep a calm outward demeanor in his proximity. But inwardly, she was always fretting in his presence.

Li Luxian never kept his hands to himself whenever they were together. In the name of convincing his father of their relationship, he acted like a complete love-struck puppy. Chen Yi could only acquiesce to his advances. After all, she had signed the contract.

She felt a cold thing sliding in her finger. Chen Yi's eyes caught a sparkling shine. She raised her hand to look at it and found a ring with countless small, lustrous, translucent light pink diamonds attached to it. Her eyes widened in awe.

She turned her hand around and inspected the ring in her amazement. "Why do I feel like I have seen this ring somewhere?"

Suddenly, she recognized that ring. "No, it can't be that one." She was in denial. It looked like that legendary diamond ring that was worth more than 100 million RMBs and recently brought into the country from aboard. A set of such rings was bought by a famous tycoon as a trophy to grace his mall that also happened to be one of the most expensive malls in the whole mainland China. Whole media had gone into a frenzy when the rings were brought in the country.

For some days, the fame of the rings had outshined all the celebrities and their scandals in the country.

Countless affluent families had wanted to get their hands on those rings. But not even the wealthiest person could strike a deal with that tycoon to buy any single one of it. Because those rings were simply very highly prized. So they could only drool over them from afar.

Her widened eyes silently asked the question as she stared at Li Luxian: Was it really the same ring?

Li Luxian complacent expressions answered her question.

"I must provide the best wedding ring for my wife." He simply shrugged.

Chen Yi: "..." He was crazy.

She sighed. "I-I don't think I can accept it. What if I lose it?"

"Then I will get you a new one."

Chen Yi: "..." Of course, he could. She remembered that the guy was the heir of Li conglomerates; a conglomerate worth multi-billions. Under him worked for countless large renown firms and companies. His family had their hold in every branch of business. So a sum of that much was like a dinner for him.

Even though that amount of money was nothing for Li Luxian, it still didn't change the fact that Chen Yi had never seen anything such expensive in her entire life let alone possess it. "It is very precious Li Luxian. If I kept it, I'm afraid..." She wanted to say that she feared she would lose it but he had already nonchalantly said that he would bring her another one. So she didn't know what to say.

"Nothing is more precious than my Chen Yi." Li Luxian didn't leave a chance to flirt with her. His tone was his typical light and mischievious one that was reserved for his Chen Yi. Because no one else would have the privilege to be addressed with such clemency by him.

Zhang Xin felt a faint ache in his heart.

At that moment he felt like a jealous wife who had been loyal to her husband her whole life but still treated unfairly.

Chen Yi fell silent. She was bashful. His words had touched her heart. If he was trying to get to her, then it was surely working. Slowly, her guarded heart was opening up to him on its own. Her heart wouldn't listen to her anymore.

"But still..." Chen Yi bit her lip.

"No buts wife.",Li Luxian pulled her to him and grabbed her chin slowly grazing his thumb over her cheek. Like always he started being intimate with her not caring for his secretary who was still there.

But Chen Yi couldn't understand why.

Why was he showering her with so many valuables?

Could it be because he liked her? Chen Yi's heart fluttered and she quickly shrugged off the idea before getting her hopes high.

That was absurd. They had only known each other for a week. And that man was in no lack of beauties. How could he possibly like her? He must have been doing it all to convince his father.

Until now she had told herself whatever he felt for her was nothing more than simple infatuation. She didn't believe he liked her. But his passionate actions were slowly making her think otherwise.

"Mr. Li. I've registered for the marriage hall. The whole area is emptied by our men so we won't find media troubling us." Zhang Xin said in a gruff tone.

Chen Yi didn't know why but since the morning, Zhang Xin had an air of resentment around him. Like he had been seriously wronged. What was that about?

"Let's go."

The process to get married was faster and simpler than Chen Yi could ever have expected. Getting done with marriage, they headed out. Chen Yi had a red certificate secured in her hands.

"Now that we are married. Can I call you, wife all the time?" Li Luxian asked getting in the car in the back seat with his wife.

"You already call me wife all the time." Why was he even asking?

"But I could see that strange face every time I called you wife."

Chen Yi: "..."

"See? Just this face?" Li Luxian laughed. "You make it every time I call you wife."

Chen Yi sighed. He was so childish. "Where are we going?" She asked, confused when the car turned to a way opposite to her residence.

"To my parent's residence." Li Luxian replied calmly.

"Your parent's residence?" Chen Yi's mind slowly processed his words.

"Yes"

"Wait! Your parents' residence?!?!?"

She stared at him wide-eyed. She had just married their son behind their back so she was sure they would not welcome her with open arms!

"Some people need to know that I got a wife," Li Luxian said; his eyes glinted darkly; his lips curled up into a cold smirk.

Tonight, at the dinner at his parents, they were going to encounter a lot of drama.
