Knowing Brother-Chapter 26
Contrary to my worries, the second floor was quiet for a few days. Every morning, when the landlady left the front door, making her shoes squeak, a boy in a school uniform followed her down the stairs. The second son on the second floor, the grandmother said, didn’t go to school, so that skinny boy must be the eldest son who ranked first in the whole school.
“John, you should be suspicious. That old lady might have lied to get us out because she wanted to move in because our rent was cheap.”
Seol-woo was into Sherlock Holmes these days and was having fun with the mystery game. He exchanged opinions with the imaginary John Watson and listened to the activities on the second floor for a few more days. Anyway, Choi Seol-woo couldn’t leave the house before 4 p.m. because Mrs. Choi had strictly warned him. He was only allowed to go out briefly at 4 p.m., when there were many parents picking up their school cars and students coming home from school in the alley.
At around 1 p.m., he heard the sound of slippers coming down the stairs. Choi Seol-woo, who was reading Sherlock Holmes in the corner room, moved quietly to the room facing the yard. He crawled on the floor and peeked out the windowsill. He saw the back of a man walking out the front door with his head down. He was so tall that he thought it was his father, not his second son, because he was lowering his head.
“Hey. Today is another waste of time.”
After that day, he tried several undercover investigations, but they were fruitless. After a few days, Choi Seol-woo almost forgot about tracking down the second son of the two-story house.
Choi Seol-woo’s interest was elsewhere at the time. At 4 p.m., the bongos that dropped off children of Seol-woo’s age in front of the alley were coming.
“The daycare bus went, so now it’s time for the Hapkido bus to come.”
Choi Seol-woo came out to the alley in the residential area at 4 p.m., the only time he was allowed to go out. He bought a snack he liked at the convenience store, ate it, and watched the children getting off the academy bus, which was the fun of the day. “John Watson, in two years I will be going to the same school as them. You should also watch what kind of lives they lead.”
The commonality between Seol-woo and the younger children was that they all had a father, mother, grandmother, or grandfather who would hold their hands when they got out of the car. Seol-woo watched the scene while chewing on his thumb.
When he saw the children jumping out of the big car and holding their father’s hand or running around asking to be hugged, he felt like he was in that scene too, and he felt at ease.
After watching for several days, the boy wearing a white uniform and a walkie-talkie around his neck would always jump to his father when he got out of the car. Sometimes he would even carry him on his back.
Today, his mother, who was full, came out to meet him. The two of them held the child’s hands in a friendly manner.
Seol-woo bit his thumb and said,
“John Watson, I wanted to see his father hug him in one go. It’s not fun today.”
“Why do you want to see your dad hug you in one room?”
Choi Seol-woo flinched and ran to the side at the thick bass sound coming from up high.
After running a few steps, he turned around and saw a tall man. The man was wearing a loose short-sleeved T-shirt, and even though he was barefoot and wearing slippers, he didn’t look shabby. He looked stylish and dangerous, so it was clear that he was a college student.
“What’s so special about that?”
She thought about the elementary school student kidnapping incident that Mrs. Choi had warned her about several times. Choi Seol-woo hid behind a large car and ran full speed home. It was such a scary experience that her groin area tingled when she opened the front door.
She was afraid of meeting that college student again, but she decided that it would be okay if she was in a crowded place. If he came looking for Choi Seol-woo again, she would definitely be the kidnapper, so she planned to ask the people around her for help.
The next day, Choi Seol-woo stood in front of a crowded convenience store. From this spot, she couldn’t see the children getting off at the entrance of the alley. I was annoyed.
Today, a boy wearing a white uniform got out of the Hapkido car. The boy frowned as soon as he jumped out of the car, as if something bad had happened today. The father lifted the boy up in one breath and held him on his shoulder. The boy cried until his throat was hoarse and spoke incomprehensible words. The father lifted the little boy up and patted his back.
Seol-woo stared blankly at the scenery and put his thumb in his mouth. After biting his finger a few times and sucking it, his body felt better and he felt better.
“Sherlock. You moved into the same house as me yesterday.”
The same voice from yesterday rang out from above his head again. Startled, Seol-woo backed away and looked up. He was wearing the same T-shirt that the man who opened the front door and left the house a few days ago was wearing.
“We live in the same house. My brother lives on the second floor.”
While he was running away, the heel of his shoe got stuck in ➤ NоvеⅠight ➤ (Read more on our source) the gap in the drain. All that was left was to fall on the dirty floor. The moment he closed his eyes tightly and put strength into his arms, his body was lifted up.
The college student who lifted Choi Seol-woo, who was tall and heavy and now Mrs. Choi could not hold, onto his shoulder took a deep breath. Like a child in a white uniform, Choi Seol-woo was also held in someone’s high arms. The feeling of it touching his body was warm. Choi Seol-woo’s wet thumb grabbed the shoulder of the college student, no, the second son of the two-story house.
Oh, it’s so heavy! The older brother of the two-story house who shouted as if it was a joke said.
“Okay, I did it in one go. Is that okay? How does it feel?”
Seol-woo, who was looking at the ground far away with his neck wrapped around his neck, answered with his neck getting hotter.
“I don’t feel like coming down.”
“Don’t come down, then.”
He held Seol-woo for a long time. A strange scent came from his body, which had a much higher body temperature than Seol-woo’s. He relaxed his body and enjoyed the unfamiliar sensation for a while.
After what seemed like quite some time, even to Choi Seol-woo, he spoke first.
“Hey.”
When Choi Seol-woo looked to the side, he said in an annoyed tone.
“What if you really don’t come down when I told you not to? My shoulder is going to fall off.”
“What? Let me down, then!”
Choi Seol-woo, embarrassed and angry at the same time, twitched his mouth and searched for something to say.
“Then why did you say that? My brother told me not to come down?” ƒrēenovelkiss.com
“You should be careful. Eyes. Chi.”
Choi Seol-woo gave up talking back as he looked at the older brother in the two-story house who was laughing while looking at his smartphone.
... ... I told you to be careful of the second son of the owner. How could we meet like this?
He took advantage of the moment when he was distracted and tried to escape again. Just then, someone passing by bumped into Seol-woo’s shoulder. The man wearing a bowler hat stumbled and said, “Eww.” He was the head of the neighborhood and everyone in the neighborhood knew him.
As he was about to apologize, the older brother from the second floor grabbed Seol-woo’s arm. The force was so strong that his arm went numb. His dark eyes rolled down.
“I bumped into you on purpose. Don’t apologize.”
Seol-woo looked back and forth between the old man and the older brother from the second floor with a bewildered expression. The older brother from the second floor said to the old man.
“Please pass.”
The old man quickly turned around after seeing his brother and crossed the crosswalk with not much time left until the signal.
He really had no manners. When Seol-woo criticized him for not knowing the Jang Yu-yu-seo and respecting elders, he hit his chest as if he was wronged and said.
“What are you talking about? Do you know how long I discussed manners with that old man before?”
“......?”
“I concluded that you don’t need to be polite.”
Every word he said was full of questions. How could an old man who was in charge of the neighborhood and had a good reputation among the people deliberately bump into a child? I couldn’t understand.
“People aren’t everything they look like.”
The older brother in the two-story house, who had left behind words that were difficult to understand, suddenly pushed Choi Seol-woo away.
“Let go, now.”
He turned around after leaving another cold word.
“Don’t pretend to know me from now on.”
He crossed the crosswalk and disappeared into the alley. It was an alley with old multi-family houses. Nearby, a grandmother and a woman from the neighborhood approached carrying shopping baskets. Seol-woo held their hands and headed home.
That morning, Mrs. Choi returned home looking tired. She smelled of cigarettes and peanuts. Choi Seol-woo approached Mrs. Choi, who was brushing her teeth, and asked.
“Brothers in the two-story house, what are your names?”
“Well? I heard that the second son you have to be careful of is named Won Dae-young.”
Choi Seol-woo fiddled with Mrs. Choi’s smartphone and opened his mouth.
“Won Dae-young.”
“The first one was Won Dae-hyun, right?”
“Won Dae-young.”
When I first learned his name, time seemed to pass slowly. Seol-woo memorized the name while looking at the corner of the bathroom covered in black mold.
The next day, Seol-woo used his membership card at the convenience store to get a discount and bought a biscuit. He glanced around while watching the kids getting off the school bus, but Won Dae-young didn’t show up. After spending enough time and chewing on the snacks, he was on his way home when yesterday’s voice tapped him on the back.
“Hey.”
“I told you not to pretend to know me?”
He got annoyed and got angry. The look in his eyes told him that Choi Seol-woo was pathetic.
“I told you not to do that in front of people. You’re so stupid.”
“Why can’t you pretend to know me in front of people?”
“You’re getting cursed at too.”
Won Dae-young took a few biscuits and put them in his mouth without a care. Choi Seol-woo spoke to him, moving his chin hard.
“......Then you just have to go to school and not hang out with runaways.”
“You know. Yeah, that could be possible, I guess.”
Won Dae-young didn’t seem to know Choi Seol-woo’s name yet.
“But why should I do that because of you?”
“.......”
The discord with this brother was actually formed from the beginning. He was a type of person who couldn’t get along well.
“Don’t you think it’s ridiculous?”
“It’s not that ridiculous. I told you to live properly.”
Won Dae-young, who was giggling, said.
“And I’m a manager. I don’t hang out with those guys.”
When they crossed the crosswalk, Won Dae-young grabbed Seol-woo’s back and stopped him. He seemed to be glaring at the alley in front of his house, holding a smartphone with a cracked corner of the screen.
