Knowing Brother-Chapter 9
In his secret imagination, Won Dae-young was wearing his Hyungil High School uniform and letting his hair hang over someone’s plump naked body. He also threw his uniform on the floor and grabbed a man’s hair and pushed him so that his back was bent.
Since it was a scene he had often imagined, it felt as vivid as if he had witnessed the dark sex in person.
Damn. I have to hear this myself. I can’t believe I’m so upset after hearing my friends having sex.
His eyes grew hot. Dark emotions surged up, and Seol-woo felt like he was going to cry at any moment.
Seol-woo silently placed his shopping bag on the front door. They were still groaning and falling into ecstasy by the time he came out and quietly pushed the front door shut.
It was a good thing. He showed Choi Seol-woo what he hated the most. The sight of them being filthy and unable to overcome their sexual desires that they despised.
That night, Choi Seol-woo didn’t go home and called his friends. He said that the internship sucked. He deliberately avoided the group chat with Ha Young-seo and Won Dae-young and invited a couple of friends to a private chat.
It was Friday night, and those friends were the kind of guys who were happy to be drinking with Choi Seol-woo.
“Hey, don’t give Choi Seol-woo any more alcohol. Won Dae-young will get in trouble! I got a real hard time for giving her alcohol before. You fucking vicious bastard.”
He even smoked a cigarette, which he shouldn’t have. It was the first time he had done something like that. Since Won Dae-young wasn’t at the drinking party, he could do this kind of thing.
As the night deepened, his friends began to seriously look for places to hunt. Choi Seol-woo looked like he hadn’t had a drink, but he was actually drunk.
He went to a bar with his friends and came out holding a cigarette. After that, the film blacked out and he doesn’t remember anything.
In the scattered memories, Choi Seol-woo was sitting across from Director Yoon Ji-hwan. It seemed like Choi Seol-woo had called first. Director Yoon must have rushed out because he didn’t have his hair styled at all.
Seol-woo was sitting at a convenience store table a little away from the busy Garosu-gil area, having this conversation with him.
“Why are you asking me to do this? Your face?”
“Haha.... A lot of people come to you after seeing your face, right?”
“Yes.”
“I can’t say no.” freewebnoveℓ.com
The reason he called Yoon Ji-hwan in particular was probably because of a rebellious impulse to tell someone other than Won Dae-young his secret. He had a gut feeling that he would be more reserved than his friends.
“I’m not the kind of person you think I am, Director. I... I have a secret.”
Choi Seol-woo has a secret. It’s a secret that only Mrs. Choi and Won Dae-young know. She has to take medicine twice a day, and the medicine alone costs several hundred thousand won a month. If you overdo it, it can cause malfunctions, so you should be careful about blood pressure, breathing, strong light stimulation, strong exercise, stress, fatigue, drinking, and smoking.
“I sometimes stop working.”
“......Huh?”
“I’m an android.”
“So...... that means you’re a robot-like science-related style?”
“Can you date a robot? You never know when it might malfunction, and there are so many things to be careful of.”
Director Yoon patiently endured Seol-woo’s drunken nonsense.
“It doesn’t matter.”
“No way.”
“Seol-woo, you’re drunk right now, so I’ll keep it brief for now. I’ll talk properly tomorrow.”
“What?”
“I’m saying that it doesn’t matter if Seol-woo is a robot that sometimes stops working. I’m so happy right now. I don’t even know if it’s a dream or reality.”
The bare face, the barefoot, and the eyes of the eyes are the beginning of the romance drama. I don't have to say that. Anyway, I was completely drunk.
I got into the car without thinking and hit my head on the car body. Won Dae-young rubbed his forehead and sat in the driver's seat.
I don't know how time flies by because of the attention the medalist received. Even though I made an official statement, I was even more nervous because of the reporters who kept nagging at me about the dating rumors. I miss my boring daily life during my rehabilitation period.
Yesterday, I went to my parents' house to sleep because I had an ion drink commercial shoot that lasted until dawn. Anyway, I had a relative gathering at my parents' house today. My house was noisy since the morning, so I couldn't concentrate at all. Even the X-Tube filming crew followed me around, making it twice as difficult to manage my image.
I was so annoyed that I still haven't responded to the congratulatory texts that poured in on the day I won the Asian Games medal.
"Ah... It's annoying..."
A voice that had sunk as low as it could go echoed in the car.
I didn't even check Ha Young-seo's message saying she would send me a congratulatory gift by courier. I picked up my phone to refuse during the brief pause.
But when I turned on Messenger, the first thing I saw was a message from Mrs. Choi.
Mrs. Choi: [Seol-woo is still asleep] 10:35 AM
What is this?
Just as I was about to ask the English question, the incoming call screen popped up. It was a call from a Seoul National University alumnus. He was a friend who had a problem with the move into his studio and was staying at Dae-young’s house for a few days.
- Oh, Dae-young. You didn’t come home yesterday, did you? When are you coming?
“I’m still at my parents’ house. I think I’ll go later tonight. Why?”
I allowed him to stay for a few days because he was a reserve member of the national long-distance track and field team and a friend I often met at the athletes’ village, but I think I should kick him out soon. I was ❖ Nоvеl𝚒ght ❖ (Exclusive on Nоvеl𝚒ght) just realizing that living in the same house as someone doesn’t suit my constitution.
- Oh... It’s late. But... Did you come home earlier?
“What are you talking about? I said I’m at my parents’ house.”
- No... Ahem. Was there a paper bag here originally? In the hallway? Uh... No way... Oh, no!
The friend who was talking to himself abruptly hung up the phone. Dae-young tilted his head at the strange feeling.
A paper bag? Is it Choi Seol-woo?
After finishing the call, Dae-young called Mrs. Choi. Mrs. Choi’s answer was shocking.
- Seol-woo, didn’t you stay at your house?
“Yes?”
- I went to you yesterday to return the gift? No, where did he go, then?
“...He didn’t come in yesterday?”
- Right! He didn’t call at all! Did he collapse somewhere?
“Just a moment. I’ll look into it.”
Won Dae-young straightened his body that was leaning against the car seat and picked up the phone with both hands. When he called Choi Seol-woo, the connection sound rang. That meant the battery was alive. He checked his messenger while waiting for the speaker to turn on and the connection sound to disconnect, then repeatedly dialing again.
There had been no contact from Choi Seol-woo for two days, and only the group chatroom of high school friends that they were both in was filled with messages.
Won Dae-young, who was quickly flipping through hundreds of messages, stopped at a photo. Choi Seol-woo’s face appeared among the photos of a drinking party taken in what appeared to be Garosu-gil.
Choi Seol-woo, wearing a suit, was pouring himself a drink after stacking up bottles of alcohol on the table. He belatedly checked the message asking if Choi Seol-woo had this much alcohol. Dae-young’s thick, straight eyebrows furrowed deeply. Won Dae-young clenched his fist and covered his mouth as if he had seen something unspeakable.
“Seol-woo... what the... what are you doing?”
He was speechless. The daily status check that he had sent every day just a few days ago was also skipped today. Why is this kid acting like this these days?
The mother peeped out from the front door of the house beyond the garden. She seemed to be urging Won Dae-young to come. Dae-young coldly ignored her urging and looked back at his cell phone.
Dae-young’s face hardened as the call connection sound continued for several minutes without any sign of ending.
The car suddenly became quiet. The call time began to appear on the cell phone screen. Won Dae-young sat down and stomped his feet hard on the floor to straighten his back.
“Choi....”
- Yes, sir.
But the voice on the phone was a stranger.
“......?”
Won Dae-young moved the cell phone away from his ear. When he checked again, the person on the other end of the line was ‘Choi Seol-woo.’
It was a voice that was unfamiliar, but he had heard it before. It was a plain, urban low voice. It was definitely a sense of foreboding. It must have been someone he had talked to a handful of times. When the next words came out, he could easily tell who it was.
- I think I’ll disturb Seol-woo’s sleep. I know it’s rude, but I’ll take it instead.
Won Dae-young glared at the steering wheel with a face that looked like he’d been hit. His eyes were frozen like a still image, blinking.
What’s going on? Choi Seol-woo sleeping with Director Yoon?
... Choi Seol-woo?
The phone slipped out of his hand, rolled past the lever, and fell under the pedal. Won Dae-young, who picked up the phone that had fallen next to his shoe, hit his forehead against the steering wheel again. This time, he didn’t even exclaim, “Ah.”
“Where is it?”
This was something that had never happened in Choi Seol-woo’s 26 years of life. The car started as soon as it started.
Dae-young! Player Dae-young, where are you going! The YouTube PD’s words were heard alone behind the car as it turned around.
