Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday-Chapter 429: One last secret.
Tang Yue shrugged. "Because he didn’t love you. I almost left him once, after he married you and he begged me to stay. You were just cash, connections and protection to him.
He confessed to me about the fire. If he left you, Prince Long Bo would have targeted him. Only by being your husband did have a safety net. But after the expedition in space, he did not need that safety net anymore.
He had the Emperor, the empire and International backers. All those things you say I could have been, I was about to be them. Our life would have been perfect if you did not make a big deal out of the divorce."
Mei Mei’s jaw tightened, "He was my husband. But all the good things he had, he gave to you. He treated me and my daughter coldly while you were the one that got all his warmth. If I was his safety net, he should have at least treated me and Mingzhu nicely."
Tang Yue laughed--a dry bitter sound. "If he treated you nicely, you would not have left when he was tired of you. The best way to control you was to treat you with coldness. The more he did it, the more eager you were to prove to him that you were lovable. I must admit that it was funny watching you wag your tail and run after him while all I had to do was beckon with a single finger and he would come running to me. He was mine....always mine."
Mei Mei leaned forward. "Well, he is dead now and you are in jail. I am outside, richer than I was when I married him and happier than I was after I met him. He is dead and I am alive. Who do you think is the final victor between all of us?"
Mei Mei waited. She wanted Tang Yue to react. To cry. To break. Instead, the woman stared back at her, silent like a wall.
Silence stretched between them. Outside, a siren wailed in the distance. Three more prison guards joined the two standing behind them. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"If that is all you had to say, I am leaving now." Mei Mei told her.
Tang Yue’s fingers curled around the edge of the table. "Why has my trial been canceled? I have been told that I will be standing before a judge and he will be reading my sentence to me. There was no trial so how can I be sentenced?"
Mei Mei shrugged. "Special circumstances. That confession that Mo Liang made to you about the fire made you an accomplice since you did not report it. If you are wise....." She put a finger on her mouth.
Tang Yue looked at the prison guards behind them and felt afraid. The fire involved a prince--a dead prince. Mo Liang was also dead. Were the two deaths connected?
"Watch your back in here." Mei Mei told her. "His love has put you in a sticky situation. Goodbye Yue, forever." She stood up and walked to the door, heels clicking against the floor.
A guard asked for her autograph and more joined in. While she signed them, Tang Yue was led back to her prison cell. Shortly after, Mei Mei was buzzed out of the prison and the gate closed behind her.
A car was waiting for her outside, Jingzhe was leaning against it. She hurried her steps, calling his name loudly.
He pushed off the car and sprung towards her, meeting her halfway.
"You were right." She said as soon as she threw herself into his arms. "I needed to come and see her one last time. Now, she does not matter to me anymore."
He spun her around and kissed her on the lips. "Now that we have put that to bed, there is one more thing I must confess. One last secret."
She raised her eyebrows. He stepped away and produced a blind fold from his pocket.
"It is a surprise."
Mei Mei laughed as he covered her eyes, led her to the car and off they flew. He fed her pocky sticks and told her funny stories through the journey until the car came to a stop.
"Where are we?" She asked.
He did not respond, he just took the blindfold off. Mei Mei looked around, observing their surrounding. The car had stopped outside a house on a hill in a neighborhood that was familiar to her.
"Is this the Royal Courts?" She asked.
He nodded. "This is my last secret. It is my house...our house."
Mei Mei turned and looked at the house. It was modern but built with stone and glass. It had hanging balconies that seemed to float over the valley below. The sun caught the edges of the windows, turning them golden.
"The empty glass stone house on the hill." She said, laughing. "I have heard my siblings talking about it. It was built five years ago and everyone waited for the owner to take up residence but no one ever did. And no one ever claimed ownership. I cannot believe you own this."
Jingzhe nodded. "I had it built as soon as Mo Liang went to space. I imagined the day when I would steal you away from him and bring you and Mingzhu here. I could never picture myself living in it without you. So, it has always been here, waiting."
She covered her mouth. "Oh my gosh!" She took her hand away. "Commoners are not allowed in the inner ring of the Royal Courts. How did you build here?"
"I gave some of my ideas from Sword Island to Viscount Huang and he secretly sold me the land. He oversaw the construction too. And he has been waiting for me to sell the house to him."
He took her hand, leading her up the stone steps to the front door. With a fingerprint scan, the doors swung open into a wide foyer with polished marble floors and walls of glass like material. The living room was sunken, with fireplace marble pit.
The walls had hologram pictures of the the couple, Mingzhu, Madam Feng and all their pets. The shelves had books and a piano sat near the balcony, untouched but gleaming.
"Meihua would love these chairs." She laughed as she glanced at the perfectly grey and white huge fluffy sofas.
"She picked them out." He admitted.
Mei Mei gasped. "Don’t tell me that everyone has been here already."
"Because I needed help preparing it for you. It needed to be perfect so that you can agree to move here." He took her to the kitchen which was stainless and sleek with a view of the strawberry field on the hill.
"This house is beautiful and perfect." She whispered.
When she turned around, her breath caught. Jingzhe had pulled off his suit and he was wearing a white shirt with a big heart. On his head, a head band with glowing hearts and in his hands was a key.
"Jun Meilin, I have built my whole life around you. Every step that I have taken has led me to you. I was born for you. I love you. Not just in the way people say it when they are swept up in the moment.
I love you in the way your parents love each other, loyally and devotedly.
I love you the way this house loves the hill, firmly.
I love you the way Big Yellow loves Noodles, quietly.
I love you the way Meow Meow loves her triplets, indulgently.
I love you the way Mingzhu loves her wombat, unshaken. Will you live here with me?
Can we start a new beginning here?"
He looked at her with nervous hopeful eyes.
"Ooh..A Zhe...." She crooned.
[Mission...]
"Shut up." She hushed the system.
She stepped closer to Jingzhe.
"My love for you is not sudden." He blurted out. "I have waited for years to say it. This is the home I imagined for us and there is no better place to make a confession than here. You, me and Mingzhu, we fit here perfectly. We belong together."
She had no idea that she was crying until she felt tears sliding on her neck. Then she laughed. "Silly vixen, look you made me cry."
He reached out and brushed his thumb across her cheek.
She grabbed his hand. "I love you too, silly vixen. And I don’t know what tomorrow looks like but this house, this moment.....it feels like a beginning."
He smiled. "Then let’s begin."
