Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!-Chapter 187: Waiting for Him to Return in Breslin
"What bad guys? Mom? Are you safe out there? You must always take care of yourself!"
Luna cautioned Annelise with furrowed brows filled with concern about her mom being out there alone.
"Don’t worry, Luna. Mom is very safe, and I’ll come back to be with you as soon as possible!" Annelise truly misses her daughter.
"Okay, Mom. I want to see Dad too; I miss him!" Luna’s eyes were filled with worry about Elias Warner.
Annelise smiled bitterly, unsure if this was a telepathic link between family members.
"Alright, Luna, you rest well! Mom has to hang up now!" Annelise decided to go find Elias Warner and have a proper talk.
After hanging up the phone.
Annelise went to the kitchen.
The kitchen didn’t have much food.
Just some dried noodles and a few eggs.
After thinking it over, she decided to make a bowl of tomato soup noodles.
So she started busily working in the kitchen.
In no time, she had a steaming bowl of noodle soup.
She placed the noodles on the dining table and then headed towards the staircase, intending to go up and have a proper conversation with Elias Warner.
Just as she reached the doorway, she encountered Elias Warner hurriedly coming down from upstairs.
Elias was dressed formally, looking like he was about to take on something important.
As he walked past Annelise, he did not even glance in her direction.
Annelise was worried and stepped forward to stop Elias.
"Where are you going? It’s time to eat; have your meal before you leave. I made some soup noodles."
"No need. If you want to return to the country, I’ll arrange for someone to take you back!"
Elias didn’t look at Annelise, left the villa directly.
"Where are you going?" Annelise asked again.
Elias didn’t respond.
The room instantly became very quiet.
Annelise was a bit worried about Elias and immediately called Uncle Ford.
"Uncle Ford, could you call Elias Warner and ask what he’s going to do? He doesn’t seem to be in a good mood, and I’m worried something might happen!"
"Aren’t you with the young master?"
"He went out on his own!" Annelise felt a bit guilty.
"Alright, don’t worry, I’ll call the young master now!"
Uncle Ford reassured Annelise, wondering what these two were doing, having conflicts even abroad?
He really couldn’t figure out what the young master was up to.
Two minutes later.
Uncle Ford’s call came back.
"How’s it going, Uncle Ford? Did Elias Warner tell you where he’s going?"
Annelise was very concerned; after all, this wasn’t home, and if any situation arose, she wouldn’t know what to do.
"Miss, I couldn’t reach the young master’s phone. He isn’t even answering my calls now. What’s happened between you two? The young master has never ignored my calls before!"
Uncle Ford started to worry too.
"Uncle Ford, this situation is too complicated. I’ll explain it slowly later. For now, I’m going out to search for him!"
Annelise was somewhat remorseful.
Have I been too harsh on him?
But...
Annelise didn’t want to think about it too much anymore, she rushed out of the villa.
Outside the villa, Elias Warner’s figure was long gone.
The sky was pitch black.
Neon lights illuminated the entire city.
Annelise couldn’t recall any friends Elias might have here.
Suddenly she thought of Caden Lynch, who was staying at Breslin Hospital.
Elias might have gone to see his comrade Caden Lynch.
Annelise quickly hailed a cab, heading to Breslin Hospital.
On the third floor of the hospital.
Found Caden Lynch residing in Breslin Hospital.
Caden Lynch was packing things.
Seeing someone at the door, he immediately frowned.
The person before him seemed somewhat familiar, like he’d seen her somewhere before.
Suddenly, he remembered the photo in Elias Warner’s wallet.
"Are you... Elias Warner’s girlfriend?" Caden Lynch stared at Annelise in disbelief.
Indeed, this woman was attractive, even more so than in the wallet photo.
"Do you know me? Yes, I’m here looking for Elias Warner. He left home, and I can’t find him anywhere. I thought he might have come to you, since he should not have many friends in Breslin!"
Annelise glanced around the hospital room, which was vacant except for two empty hospital beds.
"Are you saying Elias left home without any reason?"
Caden Lynch was surprised.
"Yes, he left without explaining why!"
"Really? Elias is never one to act impulsively. In the military, he was always very responsible and dependable. Why would he leave without reason now? Did you two have a fight?"
Caden Lynch was still happy for Elias Warner.
This guy really did return to find his true love.
It seems like they are living together now.
"No... no!" Annelise didn’t know how to explain.
"Miss Winter, right? Aren’t you curious why I know you? I never knew you were Elias Warner’s girlfriend, you know? Elias went to Surina for peacekeeping five years ago. I was his comrade, you probably know. Back then, during our military training, the task was a five-kilometer load, but Elias insisted on running an extra lap! Nobody knew why he did that! At first, we thought he just wanted to show off!"
Caden paused before continuing, "Later, I found out that if he didn’t push himself beyond us, if he didn’t reach his physical limits, he couldn’t sleep at night. He could only sleep when he was so exhausted he couldn’t keep his eyes open, when he was pushed to his physical extreme!"
Caden seemed to be revisiting those times, his lips curled into a smile as he glanced at Annelise. "It was all because of you, he said his girlfriend dumped him!"
Annelise was shocked, not realizing how much Elias Warner had sacrificed for her all these years.
However...
"At the time, I wondered, what kind of woman would ignore someone like Elias Warner? In our minds, Elias was unmatched. He wasn’t just great at flying, he was handsome too. Despite his privileged upbringing, he didn’t have any airs of a rich kid!"
Caden smiled and continued, "You both are a great match. I say all this hoping Elias can be with you as he wished, and that you won’t argue, but cherish each other."
Caden spoke sincerely.
"I..." Annelise didn’t know how to explain.
"Leaving you, Elias might already be dead inside. He wants to prove he’s alive by constantly challenging his physical limits, so I imagine he’s gone to do something dangerous!"
Caden continued.
"Something dangerous?" Annelise became even more worried.
"Yes!"
"What dangerous activities? Bungee jumping? Skydiving? Or gliding..."
These were all the dangerous things Annelise could think of.
Chapter 204:
"Ha, no, it should be more dangerous than you imagine. As for what exactly he went to do, I don’t know!"
"What should I do?" Annelise was very worried.
"How about this, I’ll contact him, and if I hear from him, I’ll get back to you immediately. Leave your number with me!"
Caden took out his phone to record Annelise’s number, while Annelise also noted down Caden’s number.
"Okay, thank you!" Annelise hurriedly left Breslin Hospital.
Back at the villa, she remembered what Elias said before he left, if she wanted to go to Tarragon Hill, he would have someone take her back.
Does that mean, if she doesn’t go back, Elias would return?
Annelise didn’t know if her thought was too naive, but it was all she could do now.
"Ding dong!"
The doorbell rang.
With excitement, Annelise opened the villa door.
At this time, and being abroad, there shouldn’t be strangers knocking.
It must be Elias Warner coming back.
Opening the door, she saw a man in a flight suit.
She didn’t recognize him, and he wasn’t from The Airline.
But he looked familiar, she just couldn’t recall where she’d encountered him.
"Hello, Miss Winter, I’m sent by President Warner to take you back to the country!"
The man politely said to Annelise.
"Back to the country? I’m not going!"
Annelise feared that if she went back, she’d lose any news of Elias Warner.
Those five years were Elias Warner’s nightmare, but they were also hers.
During those five years, every time she thought of him, her heart ached.
It wasn’t easy to survive to this day.
But why does it have to be like this now?
Annelise didn’t understand.
All she wanted was to protect Elias Warner, to prevent him from getting hurt.
But now...
Was she really wrong?
"Miss Winter, are you sure you don’t want to go back?"
"I’m not going back, you can go back!" Annelise firmly said.
"Alright, since you don’t want to return to the country, we won’t compel you. Just know, if you want to go back later, you’ll have to buy your ticket yourself!"
"No problem, I understand!"
Annelise sat on the sofa, her eyes lonely and forlorn.
Meanwhile, after leaving the hospital, Caden called Elias Warner.
But it seemed very windy on the other end.
"Elias, I finally got through to you, what’s happening? I heard from your girlfriend that you had a conflict and left home?"
Caden inquired.
"Girlfriend? Conflict?" Elias Warner sneered. Did she think it was merely because of an argument?
"Yeah, it’s the person from the photo you kept in your wallet back then. She came to the hospital looking for me, asking me to help locate you. What happened between you two, why did it suddenly turn out like this?"
Caden couldn’t understand why Elias Warner, who loved Annelise so much, would leave home just over an argument.
"It’s a long story!"
Elias Warner narrated everything from when he returned from Surina peacekeeping, how he met Annelise, to how he tried to win her back.
This astonished Caden greatly.
"You mean your girlfriend did so many hurtful things to you? You say she doesn’t love you at all? She even aborted your child? No way, Elias, could there be some misunderstanding?"
Caden frowned and asked.
His mind was filled with Annelise’s worried face from when she came looking for him.
"Misunderstanding? There’s no misunderstanding, these were things I confirmed, she admitted to it herself!" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"But... but when she came to me, she seemed panicked, she should be worried about you, otherwise why would she be panicked?" Caden couldn’t understand.
"Probably because she’s afraid I won’t let her return to the country, that’s why she was panicked!"
