Last Divinity: The Advent Of Dreams-Chapter 26: Fighting the Iron Skin Spider

He had converted only about 40 percent of his mana but that was the limit. After all his mana nodes were opened with illusion and dream mana.

It was impossible to fully covert all of his mana to another element. He opened his palm and a fireball appeared.

Unlike other mages he never had to chant, he knew every line and rune of the spell circle rendering the need for chanting null. He shot the fireball at the spider.

It exploded bathing the massive spider in flames. It screeched and lunged at him, his eyes turned gold and he looked directly into it eyes.

" Stop." His voice boomed like a drum. Viona used that opportunity to attack, she slashed her sword through the air.

A jet of flames flew out and hit the spider, the temperature in the cave increased. The others retreated to the tunnel as to not interfere or get caught in the attack of that maniac.

When the flames cleared it appeared unharmed. However he could already see the discomfort in it eyes.

" It’s working." He spun his spear in his hand and attacked. He kicked off the ground and ran to the spider like a shadow.

His spearhead ignited in flames and went straight for it eyes. The spider raised two of it legs to block.

Flames blasted out from the collision, Khali jumped back to dodge it legs but before he could land he was hit in the stomach by something moving very fast.

He flew back like a ragdoll and rolled on the ground. He knelt on one knee and touched his stomach.

" I feel like I’ve been hit by a speeding black hole." He wiped the blood at the conor of his mouth.

" You’re okay?" Viona asked from the other side.

" Still alive, be careful, that attack was fast."

He barely saw it before but now he realised what it was. A sphere of black entangled web so tough it was no different from a steel ball.

The spider fired the web from a back stinger like tail. It pointed the stinger at him, he rolled back and a split second later the ground exploded Infront of him.

He fired four fireballs at it, it shot down two causing them to explode away from it but the other two reached it.

As soon as they exploded Viona started chanting. By the time the flames of the fireballs cleared she was done.

A spiralling pillar of flames appeared beneath the spider and consumed it. The spider screeched loudly and ran out of the fiery storm.

Viona locked eyes with him, she grinned and grabbed her massive great sword with both hands.

He pointed his spear at the spider and they lunged at the same time attacking from both sides.

Smart as it was, it was a beast with no concept of martial arts. It was faster, stronger and more durable than they were.

But at the same time it was large and sloppy, Viona slashed her sword at it legs and he aimed for the eyes.

It fired two steel web balls at them, she sidestepped dodging it. He on the other hand spun his spear and hit it with it.

He felt his arms strain from the force and he poured mana into his arms strengthening them.

He hit the ball back to it face with even more speed. The spider was caught off guard and failed to react.

Unfortunately it was too strong to be wounded by something like that but it served as a well enough distraction.

When it opened it eyes and came face to face with two golden orbs. Khali put it into an illusion.

It stood still unable to move, he used that opportunity to attack. He stabbed his spear into eye.

Knowing the pain will bring it out of the illusion he ignited the spear and exploded the flames into it head.

The force of the explosion pushed him back. The spider fell on it stomach, it heavy body shaking the ground.

Viona retreated and stood next to him. She was still grinning wide and she looked as excited as a child seeing it favourite game.

" Is it weird that I find this fun?" She asked. He turned and looked at her. " Honestly, no, I expected that from you."

" Pity it died so easily." She sighed with regret.

" I wouldn’t be so sure."

Just as he said that the spider stood up, half of it face was burnt and it had lost three of it 8 eyes.

It wasn’t a lot but they were all from the same side giving it a blind spot they can take advantage off.

Her grin grew wider, " Good good, you didn’t disappoint me little beast." She kicked off the ground and jumped four metres into the air.

Her sword raised high above her head. Khali shook his head, ’ This idiot.’ her move exposed her stomach and chest for attacks.

As expected, the spider saw that too, two of it legs stabbed out like spears going straight for her stomach and chest.

Khali reacted too, he fired 2 fireballs at the spider trying to intercept it attacks but it ignored his attack.

He clicked his tongue and lunged at it, he was ready to use his divine energy to save her when a tiny explosion occurred beneath her feet.

The spider legs missed her and she dropped from above with a flaming sword. His fireballs exploded on it face blinding it for a moment.

" Ahhhhh." She slashed her sword down on it head with a loud roar. * Clang.* Sparks flew when her sword met it head.

However she wasn’t discouraged, she kicked it face and jumped back dodging it attacks again.

She retreated and stood next to him. " You saw it right?" She asked. He nodded,

" It’s a small opening but it’s there."

She looked at him and placed her sword on her shoulder. " My big girl here can’t fit through that tiny crack so I’ll act as the bait." She pointed at her sword.

He nodded and took a stance. She ran to the spider and he followed behind her. It fired two steel web balls which they dodged easily.

When she drew close, it attacked her with it long legs and he saw the opening. She dodged the leg, before it could pull it back he attacked.

His spear drew an arc through the air and the long leg was cut off. Green blood spilled to the ground.

The spider screeched with rage, the two of them grinned. " Why do they look like the bad guys here? And come to think of it, isn’t Viona scared of spiders?"

Freya whispered to the warriors next to her but with their superhuman hearing they heard her as well.

" Spiders?" Viona asked in a shaking voice.

" Oh no." He cursed under his breath then she fell back slowly like a log.

The spider used that opportunity to attack her with it leg. Everybody watched as the spear like leg went for her chest.
